....She can't play in tune, her bow is all over the place, and she squeaks quite a lot!! How has she been playing since she was 5? When I was in 7th grade I,and the rest of the schools orchestra, was much better when we had only been playing since 4th grade.

@ImaFez Well, I say that based of off the fact that every year we would compete against all the other orchestras in the state and we would always win first in one or another catagory. We also had individual testing and practices to make sure we did the best we could. The people without dedications or talent quit.

@RainbowOkami yea my middle school band did the same thing. but there were only 4 people that were actually talented and dedicated to playing music. and in the freshman yr for high school. i was the only one very talented and dedicated to my music, yet we still got first place on all the competitions. the mixture of instruments hides the mistakes of others. not everyone could be good or great. and just cause someone has talent or potential. doesnt mean theyre good.

@ImaFez With band there are plenty of instruments to hide mistakes, and all the instruments are loud. But in an Orchestra, there are 4 or 5 different instruments that are all string(not super loud)and all have to play along with their own part or it will make the whole orchestra sound out of tune.More people go to band and choir too so there are less people playing in orchestra. And if someone has talent or potential and plays every day then they're usually good.At least in middle school.

@ImaFez Haha, well most teens that still play an instrument and practice regularly do feel awkward...I know over half of our players quit from 4th grade to High School, and they think your're weird if you don't absolutely hate the music conductor for being so strict or whatever.

@ImaFez Lols XD That sucks, our Director for the Orchestra is so fun and he's really nice. He'll usually let us just pick and play random disney or pop songs at the end of the year.Not to mention how he likes to dance during rehearsel and talks like he is very gay.Even though he has a wife and daughter, he is very feminine XD Our band director is really nice and funny as well. Luckily their perspective on music is to express self and have fun, while at the same time getting better.

@RainbowOkami i wish i was at ur school. id love a band teacher who would let us express how we feel through music, lol which for me most of the time im in a good mood ;P. but, i remember one time me and my friend we were just jamming on the drums, cuz our teacher gave us 30 minnutes to practice before school ended, so after like 10 or 15 minutes he got super pissed. We get better though, but its just at playing whatever song we have to we dont get better at improvising or interpreting and stuff

Anyone can play a song well if they practice enough, but you should always be able to improvise and play different kinds of music and stuff to be a better player altogether. Otherwise you won't really be able to enjoy playing as much as you can. I know our Jazz and County band is more about that, and I hope maybe if you guys have one it gives more freedom

@RainbowOkami lolo sadly our school jazz band doesnt. cuz its still runned by the same teacher. the first rehearsal we had, i had a drum solo on one of the songs. it was like an 8 or 12 bar solo so i did my thing and went all out, and it fit well with the music, but then the teacher got all pissed and kicked me out of jazz band. lol it sucked but really he did me a favor lol. but it waspretty embarassing.

@RainbowOkami lol well a lot of ppl dont like him. the ones that dont like him were the freshmans which are now sophomore's :p. but like all the juniors and seniors liked him. most of the sophomores didnt care. but the ppl in jazz band were the juniors and seniors so while the teacher bagged on me so did they. lol. and it wasnt a good drum solo it was a great drum solo :p.
