To bad the colonel didn't know that Ken's martial arts always has some kind of lingering effect afterwards. You may not feel it now, but you'll feel the hellish pain sooner or later.
Its not just Rolento. Colonel also resembles Heidern from King of Fighters. Both the uniform and fighting style. Not to mention Heidern has cutting gloves.
@ColonelVile Well, it depends on how you define a decent fight. Mr. Heart (one of the fanbase's favorite minor villains) managed to knock Kenshiro down and leave him lying helpless on the floor for a minute or two. He was the first villain to actually do any damage to Kenshiro. However, the Colonel was the first opponent whose fight against Kenshiro lasted for more than a couple of minutes.
@YourProblem1 Japanese isn't really a dub, as dub only applies to applying foreign languages in a movie or anime. If anything, Japanese version is the original and all other dubs are just interpretations and there is no way for them to portray exactly how the show is suppose to feel like.
@cartoonjerk Two things, 1: I'm YourProblem1 just incase you'd be thinking "Stay out of this". 2: This isn't supposed to feel like anything more close to it's cultural roots. Fust of the north star isn't just set in post apocalypse Japan kind of. Sure it's set in the country but it's the future so it's probably got other culture's set in it too like americans (Take "Guile" here for instance). If I wanted to watch an anime in japanese it'd be if it was set in Japan as we know it. Continued.
@UchuuKeijiRaidanjin Whether this is set in the Japanese culture or not it doesn't change the fact that this is written and drawn by Japanese therefore no matter how much the creators want it's influenced by the Japanese society. My point is any artworks will always be influenced by its roots and thus having Japanese voice actors is the best way to do anime.
@UchuuKeijiRaidanjin While Fist of the North Star has traces of Mad Max in it, this show developes it's own unique features as it goes on and much of this anime is how to be a manly man, what it means to survive, to stand up for yourself. This series has a feel of Asian or even Japanese masculinity (although outdated by this time) in it and these are definitely Japanese. The original soundtrack and voice acting portrays all the above qualities nicely and I just can't feel it in English dub.
@cartoonjerk I disagree, I have seen the whole series in Japanese, and all the episodes they made in English. The English version is much better in both voice acting, how the voices fit each character, and in the things they say.
@Cruor34 How can the dialogue be more 'fitting' when it's based on the Japanese version in the first place? The English dub is 'okay' but it's nothing special.
@Cruor34 Well, to each thier own. IMO the english voices are much better. Kens voice is fine in Japanese but some people, such as the huge beared guy who uses whips (cant remember his name or if the english episodes even got too far) sound idiotic in japanese. Listen to his laugh for example. Japanese guys down voice gigantic muscular Viking looking people very well.
