This english skiing thing is brilliant and i am a massive supporter of it, although ive never been. I have but one problem. Whenever you have snow good enough we (in west yorkshire) usually have snow as well. yes i have a Land rover Discovery 3 which is a brilliant snow car, but whats the use when all the other idiots in their BMW's are sat spinning their wheels and not getting anywhere. Everytime ive tried to come up to North Yorkshire to ski, i cant get anywhere as the roads are gridlocked :-/
though im i like yad moss and love the idea and history of it. I dont understand the need for having more than one pisten bully. Or at least i read that somewhere it had 3
Strangley I spent today with a German supply teacher living locally and a half Greek, Half Russian skier who I lent my yellow glasses which I bought in the discount supermarket Lidl. The slope is run by volunteers who want Good Times from The Sporting Life, hence the music. The people you see aren't rich, they're just lucky it has snowed so much and they're using any equipment they can lay their hands on to make the most of their good fortune. I like the tune and so does Youtube, as it's live.
I repeat - that's a beautifully made video promo, apart from the music!
And say what you like, that's a video of rich people at play. Or did they get their skis/boards, boots, technical clothing, lift passes and gas-guzzling 4x4s from Lidl as well?
@camouflet : Do you know anything about the place, the people, and the area? Almost certainly not. Gear might well be begged, borrowed, or hired (I think there's somewhere nearby that hires the stuff out). Most people living around there (as opposed to retiring incomers) aren't rich. The rich ones are all off skiing in the posiest Alphine resorts.
@Reorte Yep. I know the place, the people, the area. I'm LMAO at the idea that your members might have "begged" their gear. "Big issue, Big issue please, and have you any spare ski gear?" LOL
And you display your crude ageist prejudices by your derogatory reference to "retiring incomers"
And I'd bet a goodly sum on most of your members also doing some of their skiing/riding in "Alpine resorts"
@camouflet : Really? And you're picking on a turn of phrase? And being ignorant of the facts too, if you think that retiring incomers aren't where most of the rich people are in Cumbria? And what's derogatory and ageist about saying it? I wasn't saying anything negative about such people. Finally "your members"? I've nothing to do with Yad Moss, I've never even been there. Try reading what's actually written, not what your head made up in place.
@Reorte "I've nothing to do with Yad Moss, I've never even been there."
LOL! If you had actually seen the huge numbers of expensive gas-guzzling 4x4 vehicles parked on the road at Yad Moss, and observed the state-of-the-art ski and board equipment on show on the slopes you might be able to contribute an informed opinion.
@camouflet Stop making such ridiculous comments you complete cretin, you actually sound racist towards white people with such garbage coming from your mouth. Who cares what music someone uses, its entirely their own choice. I bet my bottom dollar that if you see a video of black people doing activities, you wouldn't comment on their choice of music, so stop being pathetic and start to show some equality, this is 2010 so grow up.
Great video & great song Damonpeacock, absolute gem mate, thanks
that can then be "farmed" over the slopes keeping them reliably pisted when conditions arn't as good as they are in this vid. Thats it, much much cheaper than a snowdome and much much better.
Awesome video. I was up there boarding on Sunday 10th Jan. Had an amazing day. First time at Yad Moss and can't wait to get back. The conditions were better than some of the foreign resorts.
Not quite a resort, but definately a fun looking ski area / centre.
I'm sure everyone would agree, we all prefer skiing outdoors than indoors, snowdomes are fine for a bit of practice but they lack the outdoors experience.
These big companies than spend millions on snowdomes should realise instead invest in a hill like this, put in some better lifts, like a char and a couple efficient pomas and one of those any whether snow makers that produce loads of good quality snow in one location

that's a beautifully made video promo
but why choose music with its roots in poor black urban America to accompany a video about the activities of rich white rural English people?
