About the speech pace, I think slower speeds with more breaks (the best example being Tasteless) can be good also . But whatever you're comfortable with the best will be the best for listeners. I tried to stop making "lip-smacking" voices for a while b/c someone complained about it, and it only made me strain and speak unnaturally.
