I think it's possible that Penn & Teller, or more likely the production company, have run out of things to call 'Bullshit'.
@frankiediabz It's not just her. There's a crazy movement of women who call themselves 'feminists', but who actually have no idea what that word means. They're basically the sort of women who believe that all men are violent, sex-crazed pervs, and are against other women making themselves look pretty in any way, because it apparently degrades them to the level of 'sex objects'.
this is spot on i did cheer-leading one year for fun and before i went in i had already had about 4 or 5 years of acrobatics classes that was taught by pros but when i went into cheer leading it was scary the way they taught the girls they didn't teach them the proper holds to keep from breaking your partners wrist and the structure of the stunts was extremely flimsy i tried to explain this to the other girls and teachers and how to make it safer but they didn't listen too me
@TheCinemaJudge Maybe your right about their motivations but that doesnt change the fact that they put themselves in that dangerous position they knew the risks and as much as i admire that attitude of self-improvement through challenging themselves i dont feel any pity for them or any pity for the Boys who play football or extreme sportsmen who cripple themselves. Cheerleaders are self-centered, arrogant, self-righous bitches, who get off on using their status to make life a living hell for the "un-popular" kids.
That is, until one of the "un-popular" kids gets sick of being teased/ostracized/bullied by them, and breaks a cheerleader's nose.
Or slashes the tires on her car.
Or spikes her soda with a large dose of laxative.
Then they don't try to **** with you anymore, and go pick another random kid to torment.
@SinnFein4ever Seems you have issues, go seek help you pathetic asshole. I was one of the Un-Popular kids and I never got picked on, and I was casual with everyone in my school I grew up in a small town and yes the girls can be assholes but guess what.. ANYONE CAN BE AN ASSHOLE.
This was not about how some of the girls act, this was about what they have to deal with and the conditions they have to deal with.
feminists aren't against cheerleading. Just because one womyn who identifies as a feminist thinks that it's not a sport, doesn't mean we hate cheerleaders. this is stupid.
I'm surprised they didn't mention that if cheerleading was a sport, that would throw the whole Title IX balance out the window. To make up for it, colleges would either have to add additional men's sports, or women's sports would experience the destruction that Title IX has inflicted on men's sports and be cut. Or, we could just get rid of Title IX all together and let the demands of the student-athletes decide what sports to have.
Im sorry am i supposed to give a damn about these people they don't do back flips at gunpoint and their motivations are entirely shallow they know what they're doing and why.
Wake up, no one is forcing the boys to play any of those sports either. Yet all we hear about are the boys want to challenge themselves, build character and compete. Well guess what Isynno that is what most of these girls want too. Yes we have all known that some girls in cheerleading are assholes. Guess what 1 or 2 does not mean EVERYONE is. They do this to compete and challenge themselves just as much as the boys do.
The worst thing to me is-- These injuries are even MORE pointless than other sports, since it's not even the focus of the event, 99% of the time. And would anyone give a shit if they DIDN'T jump and flip around like they do?
@xIegionx At least people pay to see the fake wrestling matches, though, and the wrestlers main concern is safety. Cheerleaders are on the sidelines doing dangerous stunts really for NO REASON. Most wouldn't care if they weren't there at all, and the rest of us wouldn't mind if they just shook their pom poms and CHEERED.
@GoblinXXX I've heard other arguments that wrestlers DO try to hurt each other for entertainment with the only fake part being the outcome. But that's moot. There are other stunts like this done at parades, or other stuff. But it's entertainment purposes it entertains the crowds and cheerleaders sign up for it.
Here in Australia the concept and activity of cheer leading in our high schools are foreign. However in my opinion cheer leading is definitely a sport, just like gymnastics is. Gymnastics is an event in the Olympics, is competitive, is physically arduous and requires mental/physical discipline. Cheer leading has identical qualities as gymnastics.

ITA with beolacove - the cheerleading done during football and basketball is not a sport as they don't compete.
Physicality does not make something a sport. For something to be a sport, it has to be competitive with scoring and winners/losers. This is why cheerleading, professional wrestling, and rock climbing aren't sports while chess and competitive video games are.
@belolacove "Sport is all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants. Sport may be competitive, where a winner or winners can be identified by objective means, and may require a degree of skill, especially at higher levels." -wiki
You're just as bad as that dinosaur fascist-feminist hag.
@Schneboll That's one definition. Others I've read don't treat competition as optional. I'm not arguing whether cheerleading is good or bad, just that it doesn't meet the requirements of a sport. Any school that has students doing dangerous activities should take proper responsibility for their safety, whether it's football, cheerleading, or shop class.
@belolacove And that is the problem. The schools need funding for these cheerleaders. They can't give them proper safety if cheer leading is not considered a sport.
@Schneboll Then change how these programs are funded, not what is and isn't a sport. If kids are losing fingers in shop class in droves, the solution isn't to call carpentry a sport.
@belolacove um excuse me??? Have you EVER tried wrestling?? There IS winning and losing, and a score. They get points for take-downs, escapes, and reversals. I wouldn't think a idiot like you would understand though. Same with cheering. They have competitions, AND are scored and judged. Who are you to talk? All you probably do is sit on your ass all day long in front of a TV and go *pew pew pew* with a game controller. SO shut up and get your facts straight. IDIOT!
@LovexxxForeverxxx That's collegiate wrestling. Professional wrestling is scripted with pulled punches, assisted lifting, "selling" injuries, and self-induced bleeding. Cheerleading does have competitions that are sport, but they aren't actual cheerleading because no teams are being cheered. The actual cheerleading done during football games and the like isn't objectively competitive or scored. THAT cheerleading is no more a sport than anything done in Cirque du Soleil or WWE.
@belolacove I was talking about HIGH SCHOOL wrestling. Yes, I know that things such as the WWE are faked and scripted. whoever doesn't are completely stupid. And just because a team isn't being cheered on in competition, those cheerleaders give everything they got to winning. My best friend cheers, and trust me. It's a sport. She comes home from practice completely out of breath and sweaty. Like any other sport. They are considered a "team" just with a different name. So yeah.
@LovexxxForeverxxx Then why did you object to me saying there's no genuine winning/losing in professional wrestling? That's not the same thing as high school wrestling.
Again, I'm not criticizing the skill or dedication it takes to be a cheerleader, I just don't think the cheerleading done during football and basketball meets the literal description of a sport, which includes competition; and when it's competitive, it doesn't technically cheer anyone.
In Europe we do not have this Cheerleading cult that exists in the USA but I used to dance Rock 'n' Roll which is very similar to Cheerleading, how can anyone (especially that white haired moron) possibly argue that something is not a sport just because a purpose is different to other sports. I go swimming, it is considered a sport, still I am not competing with anybody. Honestly how dum do you have to be
I'm 42 seconds into this video and already I 100% agree with Penn. Cheerleading is a very stenuous activity that causes a lot of long term damage to ligaments and tendons.
Penn and Teller are saying cheerleading IS A SPORT. Girls are out there breaking their legs tumbling and doing flips. They're putting their well-being on the line to impress people.
@darklord220 I was literally going down to post the same comment. However, I don't really like to compare. I find that its easier for kids to push themselves when wrestling, cus if you win, you get the pride. if you lose, the weights on your shoulders, but its possible to push your self at every sport.
@rcmeyerson Wrestling is the most physically challenging sport and the most mentally challenging. All sports need individual determination, but any individual combat sport requires a certain amount of both physical and mental fortitude.
@darklord220 I would argue (Keep in mind I am a wrestler) that yes, wrestling is among the most challenging, but almost all sports have the potential to be just as rigorous.
@Shvizzard Wrestling is part of hand to hand combat you fucking retarded piece of shit. Go fight a Division 1 college wrestler and he'll show you how much of a pussy you are.
@darklord220 You sound so dumb, first off, I never said I was tougher than WRASTLERS, I never even said I wasn't a pussy , I said WRASTLING was for pussies, and that hand-to-hand combat is tough. That's my argument where the fuck is yours?
@Shvizzard Hand to hand combat involves some form of grappling i.e. WRESTLING, you fucking retard. What do you think a clinch is? A head lock? A collar tie in boxing? You think there is some division but there exists one. Now shut the fuck up.
@darklord220 Well sense you can't prove that WRASTLERS aren't pussies, this argument has been pointless, I feel like I've picked on a retard or something.
@darklord220 The argument actually changed subject a while ago when you pointed out a spelling error, most likely due to you not having a better argument to make.
@nicoleiscoolrawwwwrr I don't even see how you can compare the two sports. One is anaerobic intense activity, the other is a long, dragged out event of physical attrition.
Oh, let's bash the feminsits again. And for what, "hating the pretty girls"? They do realise that safety measures would mena putting function over looking pretty, right? This is bullshit.
I used to be a cheerleader in high school and college, I mostly did tumbling because I was also in gymnastics. It annoys me that people would say that cheerleading is for prissy dumb girls and fags and that it's not a sport. Although I have seen from pretty dumb cheerleaders, I was not one of them. It's pretty hardcore sport, my husband was a stunt guy, he had his nose broken 7 times and compressed a disc in his lower back, think twice b4 saying cheerleading is for wussies.
@Waterskisweetie85 Not saying it's for wussies or not hardcore, but I am saying it's not a sport. by definition. That doesn't mean anything bad though. I'm a skateboarder and that's not a sport either.
I never really comment on videos but I honestly wanted to say this. when I was in highschool I wasnt a cheerleader but even I knew that doing hurkeys and backhand spring is really fucking hard and our cheerleaders were the most atheletic women in our school, and we had a (non-official) womens football team that even admitted the cheerleaders were tougher.
@LoverofLiszt If you're going to go to the trouble of thinking and intending the word "fuck" have the balls to type it instead of wimping out and using asterisks. It makes you look pathetic and weak.
"Sport is all forms of physical activity which {...} aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants. Sport may be competitive, where a winner or winners can be identified by objective means, and may require a degree of skill, especially at higher levels."
In summery, CHEERLEADING IS A FUCKING SPORT!!!
I lost 2 thumbs up for doing this, but I hope you´re happier because of it :)
@LoverofLiszt I never said cheerleading wasn't a sport so posting a definition was all sorts of beside the point.
I addressed your inability to write 'fuck'. I see you removed that comment and have since learned how to use 'fuck' properly. Sort of a mixed bag of dishonesty and honesty there, but whatever works for you.
@LoverofLiszt I didn't realize that. I hadn't memorized your previous comment and it wasn't immediately obvious. You could have just left the old comment so I would have realized......and you wouldn't have lost the thumbs!
It's lovely to know you weren't being dishonest AND you learned to use 'fuck' right. Kudos! :-)
LMAO this is the funniest shit I have ever seen! you use an actual Wikipedia quote and prove yourself wrong without even realizing it.
Sports must identify winners by an objective means in order to be sports. This means that any activity with a point system, such as conventional sports, or any race can be considered a sport. But anything that relies on judges to determine a winner, is not a sport.
In summary, CHEERLEADING IS NOT A FUCKING SPORT. nice try tho, kno u meant well
Everyone regards these labels too highly. It's not a sport by definition. So what? Why do people try to argue that by saying that it's hard? If "something that is hard" was the definition of a sport you guys would be right but it isn't. Im a skateboarder and it's hard as fuck and not a sport. neither is chess. Brain surgery, also not a sport. Why are people insulted that cheerleading isn't a sport?
Cheerleading has objective winners and losers based on judges. It's basically team gymnastics.
If you don't consider judged events to be sports at all, consider this: the Giants-Patriots game was decided today because a referee judged a ball to be catchable even though most viewers judged the pass to be uncatchable, so the referee called pass-interference to essentially decide the game. That's a judged event.
@MegaAstrodude how can you equate a referee deciding whether a ball is catchable with a board of judges rating your performance? Rule enforcement has nothing to do with the objective system of point scoring. That would be like saying our President is a type of dictator because he controls the armed forces. gymnastics are not a sport either by the very same reasoning so that comparison is no argument. neither are most sports in the X games, and many of the Olympic "sports".
"how can you equate a referee deciding whether a ball is catchable with a board of judges rating your performance?"
The outcome of the event is still either determined or greatly influenced by the decision of a judge. In judged events, the judges have objective criteria such as the height of the jumps, the synchronicity of the movements, etc. There are objective standards.
@MegaAstrodude I don't see your point. that if referees were left unchecked, they would become judges?
and I don't believe we do have private militias at least not ones that have any real power. The President is checked more by the judicial and legislative branches then the people and their guns.
A referee and a judge are basically the same thing.
The President can easily ignore Congress and the Court physically with his authority over the military. The only time the military backed Congress was during Reconstruction. Many countries have tried separation of powers and the leader of the military always ends up taking control without other militia.
Private militia and armed corporations like Lockheed and Raetheon prevent coups.
@Forcefield23 interesting point I had to look it up cuz Im not totally familiar with boxing. but doesn't boxing award points for hits and knock downs? Also you can obviously win by TKO, which is quite an objective means ha.
Here's what I found this should clear a lot up about the cheerleading: It is Considered a sport by the NAD (National Athletic Department) and IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL SPORT BESIDES NASCAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A BALL
@Forcefield23 dude I already answered you read the comment below. and boxing judges are more like refs, and boxing does also have a ref, and use a point system based on objective hits.
@JAM3SD33ZY In boxing they also have judges, the judges count hits and other factors which they add or subtract points but these points are subjective because they are not consistent and based upon the opinion of the judge. Also the very fact that there is a referee shows it has a need for subjective judging that everyone is forced to agree upon.
@LifeLibertyLove how are they not consistent and based on opinion? they're pretty much counted up by judges. and the referee is irrelevant pretty much every sport has a referee
It's not so much that it should be designated a 'Sport'. Insurance companies should just realise that it happens- this whole episode carries a tacit assumption that the insurance companies are right not to pay out.

darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 I was literally going down to post the same comment. However, I don't really like to compare. I find that its easier for kids to push themselves when wrestling, cus if you win, you get the pride. if you lose, the weights on your shoulders, but its possible to push your self at every sport.
rcmeyerson 3 months ago
@rcmeyerson Wrestling is the most physically challenging sport and the most mentally challenging. All sports need individual determination, but any individual combat sport requires a certain amount of both physical and mental fortitude.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 I would argue (Keep in mind I am a wrestler) that yes, wrestling is among the most challenging, but almost all sports have the potential to be just as rigorous.
rcmeyerson 3 months ago
@rcmeyerson Potentiality does not equal actuality.

@darklord220 WRASTLING is for pussies. Maybe if it was HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT it would be tough, But no, so quite acting like it is.
Shvizzard 3 months ago
@Shvizzard Wrestling is part of hand to hand combat you fucking retarded piece of shit. Go fight a Division 1 college wrestler and he'll show you how much of a pussy you are.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 You sound so dumb, first off, I never said I was tougher than WRASTLERS, I never even said I wasn't a pussy , I said WRASTLING was for pussies, and that hand-to-hand combat is tough. That's my argument where the fuck is yours?
Shvizzard 3 months ago
@Shvizzard Hand to hand combat involves some form of grappling i.e. WRESTLING, you fucking retard. What do you think a clinch is? A head lock? A collar tie in boxing? You think there is some division but there exists one. Now shut the fuck up.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 And then you go on to explain how WRASTLING isn't for pussies, oh wait! You didn't
Shvizzard 3 months ago
@Shvizzard Can you explain how you aren't a pussy? Oh wait you can't, because your pussy ass would get demolished by any decent wrestler.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 Well sense you can't prove that WRASTLERS aren't pussies, this argument has been pointless, I feel like I've picked on a retard or something.
Shvizzard 3 months ago
@Shvizzard You spelled 'since' wrong. I am the one who is picking on a retard.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 Lol, idiot.
Shvizzard 3 months ago
@Shvizzard Says the person who spelled 'since' incorrectly, and then proceeded to call a person a retard in the same sentence.
darklord220 3 months ago
@darklord220 Because the definition of retard is someone who mistakenly uses the wrong 'since'.

Waterskisweetie85 4 months ago 3

Wikipedia:
"Sport is all forms of physical activity which {...} aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants. Sport may be competitive, where a winner or winners can be identified by objective means, and may require a degree of skill, especially at higher levels."
In summery, CHEERLEADING IS A FUCKING SPORT!!!
I lost 2 thumbs up for doing this, but I hope you´re happier because of it :)
LoverofLiszt 4 months ago 5
@LoverofLiszt I never said cheerleading wasn't a sport so posting a definition was all sorts of beside the point.
I addressed your inability to write 'fuck'. I see you removed that comment and have since learned how to use 'fuck' properly. Sort of a mixed bag of dishonesty and honesty there, but whatever works for you.
ciaochowbella 4 months ago
@ciaochowbella I merely reposted my comment with removed asterisks, so only the last line were directed as a response to you. Just to clarify :)
LoverofLiszt 4 months ago
@LoverofLiszt I didn't realize that. I hadn't memorized your previous comment and it wasn't immediately obvious. You could have just left the old comment so I would have realized......and you wouldn't have lost the thumbs!
It's lovely to know you weren't being dishonest AND you learned to use 'fuck' right. Kudos! :-)
ciaochowbella 4 months ago
@LoverofLiszt

JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY,
Cheerleading has objective winners and losers based on judges.
@9:00,
Another mistake that caused Prohibition.
MegaAstrodude 3 months ago
@MegaAstrodude how can you equate a referee deciding whether a ball is catchable with a board of judges rating your performance? Rule enforcement has nothing to do with the objective system of point scoring. That would be like saying our President is a type of dictator because he controls the armed forces. gymnastics are not a sport either by the very same reasoning so that comparison is no argument. neither are most sports in the X games, and many of the Olympic "sports".
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago

@JAM3SD33ZY,
"how can you equate a referee deciding whether a ball is catchable with a board of judges rating your performance?"
The outcome of the event is still either determined or greatly influenced by the decision of a judge. In judged events, the judges have objective criteria such as the height of the jumps, the synchronicity of the movements, etc. There are objective standards.
MegaAstrodude 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY,
"That would be like saying our President is a type of dictator because he controls the armed forces. "
If we didn't have the Second Amendment and private militias, he would become a dictator in two elections.
MegaAstrodude 3 months ago
@MegaAstrodude I don't see your point. that if referees were left unchecked, they would become judges?
and I don't believe we do have private militias at least not ones that have any real power. The President is checked more by the judicial and legislative branches then the people and their guns.
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY,
A referee and a judge are basically the same thing.

@JAM3SD33ZY "But anything that relies on judges to determine a winner, is not a sport."
so boxing isn't a sport?
Forcefield23 3 months ago
@Forcefield23 interesting point I had to look it up cuz Im not totally familiar with boxing. but doesn't boxing award points for hits and knock downs? Also you can obviously win by TKO, which is quite an objective means ha.
Here's what I found this should clear a lot up about the cheerleading: It is Considered a sport by the NAD (National Athletic Department) and IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL SPORT BESIDES NASCAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A BALL
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY that second part is still about boxing, not cheerleading. i meant that it implies cheerleading is not a sport
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@Forcefield23 dude I already answered you read the comment below. and boxing judges are more like refs, and boxing does also have a ref, and use a point system based on objective hits.
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY : Yeah! And Gymnastics, Diving, Figure Skating and Synchronized Swiming should all be taken out of the Olympic Games!

LifeLibertyLove 3 months ago
@LifeLibertyLove all the boxing i've seen had a ref dude
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY In boxing they also have judges, the judges count hits and other factors which they add or subtract points but these points are subjective because they are not consistent and based upon the opinion of the judge. Also the very fact that there is a referee shows it has a need for subjective judging that everyone is forced to agree upon.
LifeLibertyLove 3 months ago
@LifeLibertyLove how are they not consistent and based on opinion? they're pretty much counted up by judges. and the referee is irrelevant pretty much every sport has a referee
JAM3SD33ZY 3 months ago
@JAM3SD33ZY If referee's are irrelevant why is their riots over the referee's decisions.
