IMO I wuld have the HSS model, bigger memory and windows XP would be to a relaitvly fast standard. the SSD is OK for the linux that comes with it but makes XP far too slow
could you pls help me ive got the same laptop and the same programs but how come everytime i download something it doesnt work it say this profile needs to be formattedd or something ..pls help?
With windows it's he other way around. HDD boots faster than the SSD model. Did my own head to head with an Identical 8Gb SSD vs my 120gb HDD. Same TinyXP build.
right i have the 120 gb hdd xp one it way faster and more space those who pay 349 for a 8gb sdd is dumb gt the 120,160 gb hdd xp you be satisfied like i am
lol, ssd is faster but i think u forgot you cant put much more than the operating system on it. so all ur laptop serves as is a netbook. say goodbye to adding a bunch of music. ill take 160gb hdd over 8gb ssd anyday.
I dont have one, but 16gb SDHC X2 was the largest the the aspire one supports. I many be wrong. Let me know, because I have been looking into the netbook w/ linux and SSD.
don't be fooled by this video. Acer Aspire one uses the lowest quality SSD. You will get a ton of problem when you install XP with the SSD one.
Acer uses low performance SSD because it's designed for Linux(like in the video), but not for windows(unless windows 7) and to cut cost. With Xp installed, you'll find it so worthless and keep smashing your head on its keyboard.
Never ever buy SSD version of 8.9" 1gbRAM Aspire One. Search the youtube if you don't believe me, everyone is modding theirs.
yeah i have a 8gb ssd aspire one also but tha thing is tha 120gb spire one has more memory so 4 me i can use up 8gb in a amount of days but i still like it ima put a 320gb hard drive n it so mines gon b set.
nice, but wher can i store videos and musik on an 8gb hdd?

Is SATA II (3gb/s) faster than SSD???
lighangel 2 years ago
no the ssd's loading times are still faster.
Flightkid9 2 years ago
u cant compare these to. sata is the "highway" and ssd is the "car" driving on it.
u can compare ssd and hdd. (cars)
or sata and ide (highways).
in there comparision u can say that ssd is in nearly all cases faster than hdd and sata faster than ide.

@lighangel it is if your a RETARD
DavidKneiber 2 years ago 3
@lighangel sata is the connection type SSD is the hard drive type
SSD is faster than HDD
and sata 3 is faster than 2 which is faster than 1 of course
sata 3 SSD drives are the fasest out.
you can also raid 2 drives, on a desktop. and if the hard drive you have is <=8mb cache you can increase it to 16 and that improves speed a lot

This comment has received too many negative votes show
How is that valid? When you hit the lap button, it restarted the timer. It should be 27+ seconds for the HDD and 19 seconds for the SSD.

Correct, this is due to the write cycles and data throughput. The SSD may seem faster, but the HDD is probably the better option.
