the most used brands are cafe du monde with chicory (which I prefer) and Trung Nguyen (tried it once and didn't like the taste of it) As for sweetened condensed milk, I've always liked Parrot brand.

Instant coffee?? He was paid by Nescafe. Traditional Vietnamese coffee in Southeast Asia is usually made with Trung Nguyen ground coffee; in the USA it is usually made with Trung Nguyen, or Cafe Ong Tho, or if you follow the Louisiana tradition begun during the embargo years, Cafe du Monde, chosen because it had the right grind level and was strong enough to do the job. But Cafe du Monde has chicory and is not Vietnamese; chicory is never actually used in Vietnamese coffee.

Those just happen to be the brands he used. I know most Vietnamese coffee drinkers like to you Cafe Du Monde and Longevity Brand sweetened condense milk. Of course different brands will have different taste.
