  • Today if the guy wanted to borrow it, the owner of the album (which would be a CD) would just copy for him onto a CD or break it up into MP3 form and send it off to him via a file sharing site lol

  • CLASSIC... Almost a BIGGER Classic than the songs on the Compilation...

  • Nick D sent me!

  • Oh no my brotha!! this is my shit!! lol

  • Whose Line brought me here.

  • That is John Canada Terrell that delivers that famous line. He starred in Spike Lee's first joint and also was Flash in "The Five Heartbeats". He's been in a bunch of stuff through the years but this is probably one of his best known lines. Classic commercial.

  • FIVE STARS.

  • STILL GOT MY 3LP SET OF HEY LOVE

  • Whats even funnier is that they still showed this commercial until AT LEAST 2004 lmao

  • LOL!!!!!

  • Love how they're all awkwardly dancing lol

  • @NeroTheAtheist That's called a Slow Dance. LOL!! They don't do that at parties anymore!! DAMN SHAME too!! How old are You anyway? SMH!!

  • no... my... brother you gotta ta buy ya own..

  • I just tried calling the number. Damn, it's a telemarketing number now. I was trying to get my own.

On the real, I when I was a kid, I thought the "Delfonics" were actually called the "Incomparable Delfonics". I heard that so many times I figured that must be their name.

  • Man i loved that commerical expect when that gotdamn screen when u see the visa and mastercard logos and that damn announer who be telling the people to order now h

  • no, no my brotha, you got to get ya own

  • classic

  • I have this record set, timeless classics!!!!

  • 1:07 Linda Jones...immortal? Like a vampire? Awesome!

  • This commercial and the Freedom Rock commercial take me back to my 80s childhood. Now I must recreate the track list and get it on my ipod!

  • classic

  • i remember how they were showing this in 2001-2002.

  • OMG ! longingforthepast, You hit the nail right on the head man. They ran this commercial past the hole. Now all we need is that gospel commercial that quoted "Who in the hell left the gate open!" right?

  • OMFG--I remember that gospel record commercial!! It used to air on WNYW (Ch. 5 NY) in the afternoons when I would watch the reruns. That line you quoted came from a sermon titled "Watch Them Dogs". I remember it started with an Al Green song and even had a Sam Cooke tune on there as well. Then a song called "Touch Me Lord Jesus" as the voice over said "gospel greats from the past". This was definitely from 1987-88.

  • Love this...now wheres "Who in the Hell left the Gate Open?!"

  • @NepperCat LOL

  • @NepperCat whose line reference?

  • @ihaveoneofthose Thats from one of those gospel album collections they used to advertise ALL THE TIME, almost as much as "Hey Love" back in the day.

  • Wow, just amazing to see this again after all these years. I've used that line hundreds of times through the years...."no my brother, you got to buy yo' own". Back in the day, I'd be watching the Honeymooners, late night and this commercial would come on. Whoever posted this, thanks SO much.

  • Wow. This is awesome!!

  • thanks so much for posting; first time i saw this was like 3am; i jumped up and ran to the phone and just HAD to order it IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

  • I have both volumns 1 & 2 which are now out of print from Time Warner which released these classics years ago,...and I paid about $5 bucks each at Circuit City about 7 years ago. Glad I snatched them up! I'm going to throw on Vol. 1 right now.

  • Thanks for posting! I've been looking for this thing forever. Lol let me borrow it.

  • haha remember this from house party too. Peep my man john canada terrel of "she's gotta have it" fame with the infamous "noooo my brotha.." line

  • the other cat is down with robert townsend 5 heart beats....fro-town

  • Thanks abstract! I knew I recognized him from somewhere!

  • SNAP -- This was on BET all the time back in the day. It's great to see this classic piece of advertising history again!

  • We had a love/hate relationship with this commercial...every time it would come on, we'd groan, but we knew every word of it by heart. And quote it randomly in conversation. The best was when somebody would ask to borrow something, and you'd reply, "No, my brotha, you got to buy your own."

Thanks for sharing this. Haven't seen it in eons.

  • I hated this commerical. this commerical repeated as much as it did in House Party

  • Who Posted this aaahh ttoo funny

  • I remember this commercial when I was a kid. I still love it.

  • My mom had that record. I remember hearing that album all the time as a kid. Wish she still had it.

  • Nooooo my brother! You've got to buy your own! (I love that!)
