gj,, bro i dont get it which part do i have to cut so i get that sound because i dont want to get an nasty loud noise on my 03 330ci bmw i want something like this can you messege me please thanks
thanks for fucking up our planet with no muffler you ... im just kidding sounds like a beast wow i have straight pipe on my 240 sx sr20det so im just as bad captian planet hates people like us
that sounds sick bro, i just straight piped my 95 nissan hardbody, for some reason it sounds just like this, not sure why considering theres absolutely nothing after the headers cept pipe...and its a four banger lol...
@farzadali1 How very odd as the ECU limits it all so it doesn't blow up - you must have sold it with a fault or the new owner didn't have it serviced correctly. It does sound terrible and you reduced the performance severely doing that. NOISE means restriction NOT power, people often think the louder a car is the faster it goes. That's not the case. People prefer quiet and fast cars, why do you think luxury cars are almost silent? Boy Racers are just open to being conned easily every day!
@skyraptor Remove the cat, and all other silencers(boxes) and replace with pipe. OMG Complete straight through exhaust system on this would sound beastly
Stupid noobs. Why all this talk about backpressure? What do you mean? Shove a fucking acorn in your tailpipe and watch it stall. Supposed to be more power right? So 100% backpressure must mean SUPER POWER. I ran my fuel injected v6 with open headers JUST FUCKING FINE. Sounded great. Don't worry, I didn't burn the valves...
yes they can rev higher normally anywhere above 8,100rpm but they do not make as much torque do to that higher rev capability. just like ferrari's can rev high but have no torque
Without back pressure on the exhaust line (open exhaust) there will be nothing preventing unburned fuel (fresh mixture suposed to get burned on the next stroke) to go straight into the exhaust during valve overlap.
Actually, it seems you are the one without the understanding of an engine. A less restrictive exhaust will cause an engine to run lean, more oxygen in, due to more exhaust gasses going out per stroke. Which means a way more efficient engine. Combined with a good tune, the engine will have to strain less to get up to speed, which means way better city MPG's. Also, try telling that to anyone running a turbo setup, you may get laughed at.
An open exhaust will waste fuel during valve overlap. Specialy on NA engines with agressive cams. Get an idea before you speak. Why dont you buy a car, put an open exhaust in it, and actually go see if you get better mileage? I, and several million people tried it, and they all get the same result. If you want performance, the exhaust must be fine tuned in order to create vacum inside the cilinder during valve overlap. That will waste fuel and give you more hp. Restrictive pipes save fuel.
So how come almost no drag cars are running full exhausts, basically only street/strip cars do, and they still run cutouts for the weekend. Speaking of getting an idea, you need to. The object of getting power is not to create a vacuum in the cylinder, it's to suck in as much fuel and oxygen as possible, and get it out equally as fast. Creating a vacuum in the cylinder would just destroy performance, it makes you seem clueless. Do you understand the point on honing is to not make a vacuum.
You are not getting the point at all. We are talking about mpg, not hp. To save gas, you need a restrictive exhaust, period. To gain power, on a NA engine, you need a properly tuned exhaust that will create a vacum in the cilinder using the exhaust fumes inercia. This can be seen the best in 2 stroke engines. Now, fuck off and grow up. Inform yourself before you come with your basic 2 grade theories.
Lol grow up? Who's the one who needs to curse on Youtube? You seriously need to do some research, creating a vacuum in the cylinder will majorly take away power, what you're saying is going completely against professional engine builders theories. The point of an engine is to NOT create a vacuum, in either halves of the cylinder. Seems like you're not getting the point either, to get good gas mileage, you need efficiently burning gasoline, a better flowing exhaust will do just that.
You are both right up to a certain point. nandoanalog is just talking about some more complex things than you kcole939. If the cam shaft has an aggressive timing, and the exhaust is properly tuned, the gasses inertia will indeed create a vacuum in the cylinder chamber during valve overlap, and pull unburned fuel to the exhaust collectors.
same for my cousins crown Vic...then again those have one of the worst exhaust systems ever..lol log manifolds, y pipe, and four cats, and a crappy stock muffler. on a 5 liter V8.
a lot of fords have 4 cats, my mustang had 4 cats, my truck had 4 cats almost anything from the factory with a V8 has a lot of cats on it. anyways on my f150 it now has a K&N drop in filter and long tube headers, 2 high flow cats going into a single in dual out magnaflow muffler. my fuel economy had gone from 14 around town to 19 and it has gained 21rwhp over stock!
Yeah, My interceptor has four cats,(soon to be zero) wink wink** What i have in mind is a PI swap, hiteck stage2 cams, FRPP headers, off road X pipe and Dynomax race Bullets....Oh and a tune
dude LOL i have had performance cars all my life, cars with no back pressure get killed on performance in low to mid RPM's. you will ALWAYS need some back pressure no matter what. NOW on turbos or high performance N/A cars that have heads that flow really well create thier own back pressure on a freeflow. as far as vac during overlap, then having a freeflow is a requirement if thats what you want
with a tune, lower backpressure is better. you do not "need" backpressure. backpressure just takes away power that could be used to turn the crank and uses it to push gases out. its a myth that you need it.
Actually what you really need is velocity. Backpressure is bad. Velocity is good. But part of having velocity also give you back pressure. IT's the finger over the end of a hose effect.
Each time an exhaust valve opens it sends out a high pressure wave. If you add a pipe thats large enough to allow free flow but small enough to keep a defined wave, you can create suction on the backside of the wave. At certain RPM's that suction develops at the exhaust valve right when it's closing and the intake valve is opening. This 'sucks' the last exhaust gas out, and helps draw in fresh air, which is good. That's why an engine can make more power with the right pipe attatched.
actually its less restrictive than stock so it doesnt kill gas mileage unless you drive around WOT all day. Under normal conditions I can say mileage has not been effected.
its all stock except now instead of straight pipe from the cats back I have put in some resonators to make it a bit quieter for nomral driving. Its the more recent clip thats posted. Not sure how this would be on an SLR but its pretty easy to try and if you dont like it have them put the mufflers back on.
yeah. the only problem with the SLR is the exhaust is right next to the wheel well and is a pain in the ass to get to.And good call for the resonators.. so u aren't the ass hole who disturbs everyone near you. Also when i do little highway races against stupid teens that cant drive i cant be having that loud shit blasting.haha

They must have a fair amopunt of torque.
I think the A8 gets to 0-60 mph in like 4.8 secs.
So it must have something low down.

@nandoanalog how would it waste gas?
all an exhaust does is remove more gases from the cylinders (and by that, i mean vs a stock exhaust) that doesn't force the ECU to inject more fuel.
