  • Wow !! you are great teacher !!

I'm sure this movie is one of the correctest pronunciation program in the world. : ) Good for you ~ !

  • How do you pronounce such words as order, mortar, murder... for some reason, I can't pronounce these words.

  • Thanks a bunch!

    What about OUR sound?

  • Thank you , you have made learning English much easier .I am glad that I you on youtube.

  • Excellent presentation. I should just point out though that these pronunciations of 'R' apply to American English pronunciation - the British 'R' is completely different in that it is much 'weaker' in sound.

  • I am still shocked :) how You are great teacherand more important warm and great person, woman. It is incredable how You say about your family... You should have more and more children, then the world maybe will be better. I would give You Peace Nobel Price or something better :. All happiness for You and your family. I wish You, in return, so much warm from others people.

    Nice job!

i need to pronounce final ED such as Kissed,Played and Visited. I know there's different pronounciation of each other. Do u have any exercices about it?

    I hope ur answer

    Take-care

    Steve from Chile

  • Did you watch the video on the simple past tense yet? (Lesson #3 Basic Grammar - last part). I cover the "-ed" ending there. Good luck!

  • Hi from Bulgaria,I relly liked your lessons, which are great help,

I would be glad ,if you can help with a difficult word water, which is of a vital importance.

    THanks a lot for all

  • Which sound do you find difficult to pronounce? The /t/?

  • To be honest if I concentrate and pronounce only the t or Th sound then I have no problem but when it comes to speaking words or text then I think The th is more difficult, sometimes even both.

  • Often when we learn to make a new or difficult sound we must first be very conscious of our movements. Then it becomes more automatic.

  • I hope to make a video on /t/ in the future.

  • That would be great of you, I'm waiting for it to be released. Best wishes

  • Thank you so much!! I'm a high school English teacher in Japan and I used and will use a lot of the information from your video for my lesson plan and the explanation I will give my students when I teach the lesson. I also use a book called "English Pronunciation for Japanese Speakers" which has been very helpful in addressing the particular problems for Japanese students of English.

  • Glad that my videos can be of use to you.

Are you referring to the book by Dale and Poms? I like their approach to pronunciation as well.

  • Thank you

  • and one last thing

how do you pronunce to word "corpes"

Its in a peom i have to read tommorow, please help!!

  • So sorry I couldn't respond before your class. Hope you figured out the pronunciation. By the way, was the word CORPSE or CORPS? Big difference in meaning!

Did you know that most online dictionaries have pronunciation samples?

  • I can't express how happy i am that you did these lessons

    They really help

    THANK YOU!!!!!!

    SO SO MUcH!!

  • thank you so much, i really enjoy them

  • thank you for your lesson

all of your lesson are really nice

  • when u say "ssssssssssss" where di u pt your tongue?

  • You need to create some friction. The front part of your tongue is very close to the hard bump behind your upper teeth. Pull your lips out a little. As you do that, you'll feel the upper side teeth against the sides of your tongue. Hiss like a snake!

  • thank you so much!

  • I like your classes. Thanks so much!

  • execellent videos I wish you were my english teacher, by the way it would be better if you upload a video every other day, and a question for you, the difference in pronounciation between tire, tied, tie, and tired actually I dont know exactly how to pronounce the word tired

  • 1. If a topic is large, I break it up into mini lessons. But even those mini lessons can take more than 10 minutes. That's why you'll get a lesson like this one: Lesson 5a in two parts. I upload all the parts at one time for those eager to see the entire lesson in one sitting.

The great thing about video is that you can always pause, rewind, and replay. Take in as much has you can handle for one day. The videos will still be here tomorrow.

  • 2.

TIE = Hold out the vowel sound. Mouth is open and then closes just a little as vowel sound ends.

TIED = The vowel sound is also a long one, but you end it by raising the tip of your tongue to the bump behind your upper front teeth and pushing off. Remember /d/ is a voiced sound. Keep the vibration going from the "ie" into the "d".

TIRED = Say "tie" and smoothly link it to "er". Hold out the "er" sound a little and then end it with a /d/. This word has 2 syllables. (TIED has only 1.)

  • greattttt, thanks a lot

  • Thanks ++++++

Your are a firts class teacher.

  • Hi Jen, you are terrific.unbelievable. I don't have a word to praise you. appreciate a lot.

  • great class

  • Fantastic. Thank you so much.
