I bought one for my Wii a few months ago. The gamecube controller is good except for one thing, the d-pad is way too small, practically useless for fighting games or games like Final Fantasy 3 with fighting game style controls (Sabin's blitz attacks.). I'll probably just get a classic controller for my Wii.
The controllers are nice but they seem to break easily. I've worn the grip off of many GC analog sticks. I've had a lot of them get stuck on one motion too.
I swear I must be the only one to have like this controller, in my opinion it is one the worst ever. Never got that button layout. But it's mad popular so Nintendo must have gotten it right.
did not like the Y button could of named it something else... every time i played someone asked how to jump i say Y their response was because i need to kno!!!!!!!!!
Xbox always confuses me for some odd reason. I think its because on gamecube y is actually the highest button and x is to the side. Kinda like a graph. I think xbox is oppisite.

Call me picky, but I can't STAND the fact that Sony controllers use shapes instead of letters. It confuses me. I don't know why, but I just can't get used to it. Whenever have to push one of them, I have to think for a split second as to where it is. Not too big a deal, but with most other controllers, remembering where they are is second nature to me.
@Fishmon14 its just their way to stand out. I like the shapes they're different, out of the box. Everything can't be ABC, XYZ (Sega) OR YXBA (Everybody else).
I understand, but I still detest it. I like how the Gamecube's buttons aren't so organized. They sort of wrap around each other in some weird conglomeration. Yet, while unorganized, they're somehow organized in a comfortable way, if that makes any sense. At least to me.
@Fishmon14 I think the Gamecube controller probably would be my favorite controller if I didn't play sports games. I had an XBOX and PS2 so it's not like I couldn't play sports games; but the fact that the controller was so awful for those kind of games I have to give it a thumb down. The GameCube had no competition in the last gen it was awesome. There were so many great games like Mario kart double dash, Mario party 4, luigis mansion, Mario sunshine, 007 agent under fire, smash bros Melee, rerelease of ocarina of time and more.
And I think u r really stupid if the shape of a console even comes to mind wen talkin about which console is best. The gc controller was so good and looked cool. ps controllers in my opinion have small handles which is annoying. The 360 controller
If the dualshock was more comfortable then it would a much better controller than gamecube one, in fact there already is a controller that is kinda better than the gamecube execept it doesn't have triggers but imo it's just as comfortable, it's called the classic controller pro and it's made by nintendo.
I remember when Gamecube came out, my friend got it and he called me telling me to get my ass to his house, his older brother and friends were playing some game and the graphics were just unbelievably realistic... now-a-days, to me, it still has that same feeling :) but i wonder what the next ten years will hold for the video game industries futures :)

The Gamecube had a tough time because of the things it couldn't do compared to the PS2 and Xbox 1 (HDD support, DVD playback, pressure sensitivity etc) and well, because the console itself resembled a freaking lunchbox..
Actually that is true and its been known among gamers for quite a long time. The Nintendo gamecube was the most powerful system of last gen, HOWEVER, Nintendo has a habit of creating complicated technology for themselves specifically and then allow third parties to create software. The gamecube was notoriously difficult to develop for, but with the right skill set and resources it could far surpass the original xbox (see metroid prime)

i think the gc controller was inspired a tiny bit from the dc controller when it comes to the thumbstick position but the rest of the gc controller was pure nintendo uniqueness (is uniqueness a word?) XD. i love both controllers

i think that gamecube is best controller. ps2 controller is just too small and analog stick is on place of d pad that's just long minus :( and of course design on gamecube controller is made very well.
Didn't mind the C-stick worked well for camera control but the controller would of been 10 times better if it were the same size as the left analog stick.

Not to mention, the ORIGINAL Xbox and Gamecube were released, what, within 2 months of each other? Microsoft wouldn't have had the R&D time to "copy" Nintendo.

I have the black, silver wireless, orange, and purple Gamecube controllers. The orange and purple ones don't work but still: These controllers are the fucking awesome-est (is that a word) controllers ever.
i actually really liked the gc. i loved how light and portable the console was, i think the controller is the best ever, and i like how small the memory cards and game disks were. i think that whatever controller you play on is the one you will like, but i think people would be surprised if they gave this controller a go

i think the gc controller was inspired a tiny bit from the dc controller when it comes to the thumbstick position but the rest of the gc controller was pure nintendo uniqueness (is uniqueness a word?) XD. i love both controllers

Yeah the GC controller is pretty good and PS1/PS2/PS3 controller is probaply the most successful controller ever made.
I have only one problem with both of them.
They are too small for my hands. I can cope with the PS2 controller but after couple of hours with the GC controller my fingers hurt.

@YouWouldNotBelieve33 not as similar as the 360 controller is to the dreamcast controller. You know the ABXY buttons on the 360? They're in the EXACT SAME ORDER on the dreamcast, just different colours,, even the d-pad and left stick placement is identical, and the shape of the controllers as well!

@GamerNinjaX You have to realize that in history someone is always gonna copy a game either purposely or not unpurpose but i have never played Gears of War so i couldnt argue out if its a copy of Resident Evil or not as for Halo never played Halo except for Halo 3 and Halo Reach i wasnt impressed with that bullshit and i wish for Nintendo to make more offline and online Multiplayer offline Multiplayer with more characters not like the Metroid Prime 2 Multiplayer

@cooldude8912 I understand that. I just hope (if they add multiplayer) they dont overshadow the single player experience. For example, they made the call of duty games short as hell just so that people can play multiplayer, I think that is very imbalanced and I hope nintendo doesnt follow that road.

Okay, I love the Gamecube controller, and loathe the Xbox 360 controller, but be realistic, it was just a coincidence lol, if anything, the Xbox 360 controller looks more like that of the Dreamcast's.
Not to mention, the ORIGINAL Xbox and Gamecube were released, what, within 2 months of each other? Microsoft wouldn't have had the R&D time to "copy" Nintendo.

@strykah92 You're probably right, but when you think about it, the original Xbox controller doesn't look as much like the GC controller as the 360 controller does. at the very least, I reckon Microsoft took a few pointers from the GC controller. But only for their 360 controller.

i actually really liked the gc. i loved how light and portable the console was, i think the controller is the best ever, and i like how small the memory cards and game disks were. i think that whatever controller you play on is the one you will like, but i think people would be surprised if they gave this controller a go
