  • I remember this from my high school days. Why the hell did they break up? This was; no, still is; great music.

  • Take me back to '79 I remember seeing this back then...Another great performance by John Waite And "The Babys" Awesome time in my life!!!!

  • THIS IS TALENT!! NOT TODAYS SHIT....

  • Mrs Demore???? lol a bit sloppery dont you think?/

  • hermoso tema,

  • Great Band!!

  • GUILTY!! There is something about this song that gives me goosebumps. I use to roller skate to this when I was a kid.

  • John's singing live but the rest is recorded. Boy, that was the era for background singers!

  • LIVE music, not lip synced... Awesome.

  • Get this band back together and tour with Journey and Foreigner. Your fans would go crazy for this!!!! John Waite come back!

  • What an awesome song this is! Thanks so much for posting this great video--it's nice to see these great songs performed live! Bobbyk

  • I miss the seventies . I know I'm older . It was the best time of my life!

  • Wow

  • nice song, so much better then the current "rap crap" that is polluting the air

  • i love this

  • i love this

  • Love love it THANK YOU

  • The only thing that ruined it for me in this video is the freaky disco guy in the ET foil helmet. The 70's had the best music like this song but we always seem to be reminded of the dark days of disco. Yikes!

  • Great song and great times the 70's. Wish I had a time machine so I could go back, take the guy down front dancing with his GF,and kick the living shit out of him for ruining this video. Then stuff his beanie hat up his ass. Other than that, great video. Song was played at my wedding. God Im gettin old,LOL.

  • sound systems are so much better these days. His voice is nervous or shaky.

  • Really nice tune. Love the girl.

  • The words to this song make no sense.

  • he's got a really nice voice

  • I think the backing vocals isn't life....

    Beautiful song dough!

  • hey snow dick i sent that same message 3 months ago

  • Live music.... yeah! love it

  • Live music.... yeah!

  • Awesome singer and band!!! Miss this generation of music....

  • Crap, I'm feeding 100+ people tomorrow and here I am listening to the Baby's, my bad.. whats up with the dude in the tin foil cap and leotards, I'm sure his kids and grandkids are making fun of him now. Ack.. Back to my kitchen...

  • hey snow princesss i said that months ago you mother fucker,,,you think i'm going to stop coming here

  • John Waite doesn't sound right. There are much better sounding videos of the same song.

  • John Waite looks like the dude from American Pickers-Mike Wolf- only with orange hair

  • amazing....

  • 6 people not thinking of you!

  • Wally Stocker, reallly underappreciated as a guitarist! Great rockin' band!

  • The Baby's were an awesome group, both musically, and on the vocals--excellent vocals! This band should have been much bigger than it was! Sincerely, BobbyK

  • @bobby7771117 I agree

  • He's another one who had a unique, EXCELLENT rock voice... I was fortunate enough to have seen him twice - once with The Babys, opening for Foreigner and Ted Nugent in the mid 70s, and once as a solo artist, opening for Peter Frampton and Journey, in the early 2000s. Both times, he was flawless, live.

  • WOW GREAT Video!! Loves This Classic Song !!!!

  • Wow...Haven't heard this song in ages.....It brings back memories of my high school graduation year....Wow!

  • Backing vocals is playback!!!

  • Love it, so many memories - thanks

  • Thank you, Kelly King, see what you started! Ha Ha! Have been singing this in my head all day! "Maybe I was wrong not knowing how our love should go, but I wasn't wrong not knowin' how our love would grow!" Great piano and guitar solos.

  • No "AutoTune" back then, just pure awesome music straight from the heart.

  • john waite made hits and new lady back ups are a hit in music bravo :)

  • I love this song & also Baby's it's you. Thank u I've never been seen the clip to either but always heard on the radio.

  • annie has the video on her website. who knows for sure?

  • This makes he so happy.... Im going to go buy a piano today :)

  • "Seasons come and seasons go, but our love will never die...

let me hold you darling, so you wont cry.."

Still chokes me up after all these years, it's impossible for me to play or even listen to this song without my eyes welling up just a bit.

One of the best love songs ever written, a true masterpiece. Thanks for posting!

  • This was such a good time. Great music. This song kicks ass!..

  • These guys are pros...Especially Tony Brock!

  • Awesome song....mark this 1 down as one of the truely great LOST songs.

  • JUST ENJOY THE GREAT SONG AND FANTASTIC SINGING

  • I've been through about 10 of the midnight specials tonight, and this one takes the cake so far. I really love watching the Midnight Special. Brings me back to my childhood. Its like one of the last things that can bring back feelings from those times so long ago...

  • Got my first pice of a** to this song.. TKS. BABY'S

  • he's good. that's the only worthy comment!!

  • You bet it is live- hear John ducking the high-end notes and even going flat a coupla places. That's not pre-recorded!

  • He is singing live but I think the music is pre-recorded, nothing wrong with that, it was quite common in the 70s. Their music was hard to recreate live unless a full orchestra was involved. It is beautiful music no matter how it was performed.

  • Yes well this full orchestrated song is hard to do live on a show like this so I can understand the band faking it. I mean this stage is not big enough for a string section.

  • @DA90027 - this is clearly not lip synch'd. it's geuine live performance. They could have had the strings on a backing tape - which was state of the art back then.

  • @DA90027 - this is clearly not lip synch'd. it's genuine live performance. They could have had the strings on a backing tape - which was state of the art back then.

  • the sound on the recording studio is diferent , i have not seen any lip synch performance in the midnight special show

  • @isagitario62

check out Journey and ABBA they are both clearly lip synching. I remember watching the show when it aired and being mad that many were just like on Bandstand.

  • John is hot...hot video makes me want to go back in time

  • This song and particularly the singer Waite are somehow creepy.

  • @ejgiv Interesting thought. Just curious- in what ways?

  • Theres a WHOLE lot of sound in this vid that is not being represented by actual instruments on stage. I think they played tape on most the music - included backs, but he sang it live. Cool strat sound out of that Les Paul....lol

  • @vibroluxor Yeah, no doubt about it it's the studio recording with the lead vocal deleted, and everyone faking it except him. The girl is such a good lipsyncher, though, I wonder if it isn't the same chick as on the record. Who is she? What a great singer she is.

  • @bstct Annie Bertucci is a Great Chorus girl, she worked with many groups

  • @bstct YES, that's Annie Bertucci, same girl as on the record.

  • @musicalman77 Are you sure? Because I watched Annie Bertucci on some other videos and this looks like a different woman....there's a resemblence, but she looks different. Then I've heard that the real singer on the album is Marti McCall.....and she is credited on this song if you google it. Thanks for your feedback.

  • @dacordova I'm sure THIS is Annie in this video, and she links to these from her own site. It also SOUNDS very much like her voice, and I believe I have seen her credited on the song somewhere. You might check her website (contact e-mail is there) and ask HER if it's critical. I'd be interested to know for sure, but I always thought it was Annie singing on the song. There is a YouTube vid with another girl singing, but she def appears to be lip-syncing on that "live" TV appearance.

  • @dacordova It's been bugging me (too much time on my hands?) so I did some checking. According to the Wikipedia article for the song, "John Waite was the lead singer of the group and was backed on the song by Annie Bertucci." And we all know Wikipedia is never wrong!

    (:^p)

I have seen Marti McCall credited on that album but not specifically for that song, and I've even e-mailed Annie to see what SHE says. Yep, too much time on my hands.

  • @musicalman77 Cool, let me know if she replies to your e-mail....thanks.

  • @bstct It's the same girl from the studio. She's probably singing along with the track with her mic turned off. That's why it's synched up so well.

  • dude looks like a lady

  • That blond backup singer is HOT ... and her voice is amazing! What a great tune!

  • @conan1982 Man she is really so damn good. He aint so bad but she makes it all work.

  • Waite wimps out on the high notes, even then.

  • ahhhhhhhh the memories.... :)

  • One Of The best Live bands Ive ever Seen.

    1982 Old Warehouse New Orleans

  • Is the blonde Annie Bertucci?

  • Blonde isn't singing live.

  • Great song, great performance! And John Waite is awesome!

  • holy cr*p! what is going on with the guy in the silver hat at 2:25 and his um, date...?

  • @deirnoel They thought they were auditioning for Solid Gold

  • and it's actually live. that's just awesome.

  • One Of The best Live bands Ive ever Seen.

    1982 Old Warehouse New Orleans

  • Great song!...Love It!....but that blonde back up singer?...is that a maraschino cherry on her shirt??? :D

  • I believe that this song was recorded with Michael Corby, Yet this performance is with the upcoming Union Jacks line up including Ricky Phillips and Jonathan Cane...

  • @flippyflyer nope...Michael was gone by then.

  • Sorry, mean't AN awesome singer.

  • Blonde gal is any awesome singer, wow.

  • John ALWAYS puts on a great show....even if he is touring small joints acoustically like he was a few years back...outstanding and professional.

  • Love Midnight Special. The show prided itself on live performances; however there are some backin tracks (horns, strings). It is an awesome song.

  • superb performance by a very underrated band. were the backup singers the same ones used in the studio? they sound a little different. thanks for any help.

  • 0:36

How did that Village People fag dancing with that chick get in this video?

  • A band that never got the regconition that they deserved!!

  • Este tema es tan Romantico, bonitas letras,Nice woords.

  • MIchael Corby..You founded a GREAT band!! You put this band together...You WERE the Babys..Too bad other can't face the truth!!! I really wish everyone could put things aside and let the band ( GROUP) re-unite!! You guys were really phenominal!!

  • @BotoxBlues Bien dicho.

  • Saw Them At The Old Warehouse In New Orleans Many Years Ago I Was At The Stage Just To The Left Of John Waite Truly a Killer Concert

  • these are what u call 'real' songs...they blow any modern performance into the weeds ;) ...modern songwriters can hardly put 2 chords together let alone all of these :)..and as for the modern 'singers'.. hmmm

  • Boy... John always know how to say it... Love you John...Thank you. x

  • Superb. Great vocals. Catchy tune. Even the background singers are fabulous. Very nice performance. Not many people have the talent to put together something like this today. Thanks for posting that up for us.

  • I love this band. John Waite's vocals are awesome.

  • What a great song! What a great rockin ending to it!

  • The only thing live on this is John Waites vocals! Still way awsome!

  • John Waite... awesome voice. Went on to front Bad English......

  • WOW......HOT,THANK YOU FOR THE POST...

  • The Babys were a great power pop band, in the vein of The Raspberries, Badfinger, Cheap Trick, and April Wine. I bought the Head First single when I was in the 5th grade because I liked it and this song was on the B-side. The store clerk said they would be saparating the two because this song was doing well on it's own.

  • @ghostdancer2302 April Wine powerpop?!? Wha?

  • Sorry to say, but the background singers are pantomiming to pre-recorded vocals in this vid.

  • GO MRS. DEMORE! Lol, sorry, but I just found this vid. My music teacher is the backup dancer in the zebra top. She's so amazing!

  • @thesnowprincess5

Wasn't she in "Rock n Roll High School" with The Ramones as well? She looks like one of the HS girls!

  • @thesnowprincess5 ~~~when annie is singing her solo look at demore ,you can tell she is truly happy for her and that is great ~tell her she was hot for me please, what does she look like now? great song!!!

  • @thesnowprincess5 ~when annie is singing her solo you can tell that demore is truly happy for her and that is class~tell her i said she was hot !!! what does she look like now????? great old song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thesnowprincess5 She's a cute lady. How does she look these days? I wish that I had a teacher that looked like her.

  • @thesnowprincess5

That is SOOOO Cool! you are very lucky!

  • @thesnowprincess5 I wish I would have had a music teacher that looked like her...mine definitely did not.

  • @thesnowprincess5 That is really cool! I love the way she looks at Annie Bertucci while she is singing! Mrs. Demore seems to be admiring the performance while being a part of it.

  • @itsmylife1776 i said that a month ago you fucken moron

  • Thanks for posting this.. Brings back great memories

  • Such greatness of a love song!!

  • Great stuff,.............BTW the singer's(in pink) is not Rosemary Butler it's Annie Bertucci

  • Fuck Cheap Trick and fuck April Wine, The Babys were the best power pop band in the late 70's.

  • Rosemary Butler IS the singer in pink and she sounds almost as good today at 55 as in this song. Youtube her name as she has done backup vocals for some of the greatest songs from the 70's and 80's. Check her discography.

  • Brilliant!

  • This is beyond awesome.......

  • I saw Jon Waite in1999 and he is by far one of the best live vocalists I have ever been privileged to hear. He put on a wonderful show.

  • is that freddie prince dancing in a space suit

  • Fantastic band! So much energy. A great, timeless song!

  • Yes they are!

  • I saw the Babys in 1979 or 1980. I don't think they had any female vocalists at all touring with them at that time, and they were missed. This was a great record. The extra production sold the song. When it was stripped down for live performance, it lost something.

  • are they all still around( as in livin)

  • OH MY;; i was only 17 and loved this music then;; and still DO

those were the days;;;;;;; those days and music will ;NEVER be the SAME

  • Saw these in Chatham not long after I had my first child in 76. Been a fan ever since.Beatlebabyforever its great to hear John's still performing. Thanks redmancfan for uploading

  • God I love him.

  • Just saw John Waite a few weeks ago at a free concert in Michigan, man he was Fantastic!!! great voice, great energy and looking better than ever!!! From now on I will see him whenever possible...free or not. He is most definitely underrated

  • great band, John Waite also wrote music Journey used and made it a hit.

  • @couture912

    Such as?

  • Thanks for the post! To bad these guys didn't last, they were pretty darned good! I miss the music of this era.

  • KICK ASS

  • The female singer in the pink top kicks butt on this performance.

  • @euqip Annie Bertucci

  • @MrManEnough Thanks. Can someone tell me why this woman is not more famous? John is great and I love this song but I think Annie lifts this song up to another level.

Good Stuff, Thanks to whoever posted this

  • Jon is singing to tape. Basically Karoake to a great song. compare to the recorded version. Still is great production.

  • Great performance and great, crisp, clean footage!! Thanks for the post! I enjoyed this tremendously!

  • This is great but not completely live.Just johns vocals are.Live music doesn't fade out in the end.

  • Just got home from a 3 day run with Sammy Hagar.

Last night in St Paul,, John Waite showed why he is one Rock's Best!!

  • @Daisyno2 So true- you can see a close-up of her cute right areola at 2:13-2:19!

  • Truly great performance! (Hey, I remember being thin like that back in the 70's, what the hell happened?)

  • Saw them open for Alice Cooper....they were great.

  • Back when a televised live appearance actually had a chance to be live.

  • @eauhomme Just John's vocal is live.Live music doesn't fade out in the ending.

  • Can you say UNDER RATED ?

  • @AutoBahnForever This band should of slaughtered all other bands back then. The Babys one of the GREATEST ....Waites vocals are so únique. Love ya BABYS

  • its gotta have one of the best endings to a song EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..

    love you babys...........

  • The backup singer on the far left is Melanie Chartoff, later of ABCs "Fridays" and Ms. Musso on "Parker Lewis Can't Lose." Also a voice on "Rugrats."

  • @maynardsmoreland Not quite. It's actually Riff Randall's red-headed friend in RnR High School.

  • Great feel good music that unfortunately is not around any more!! But thank God for You Tube so we can revisit and keep these classics alive, because there aint too much around today that inspires this sort of feeling.
