@songerboy96 It shouldnt be your main tool though, it shouldnt even be your second one. Torture gets you a ton of quantity and not much quality. Even the government is questioning its effectiveness after the fact. I can understand torturing leaders, people who have the most information and incentive to keep it secret, but traditional interrogation works just as well for the rank and file (and most of the leaders).

Why is it not clear to all of our citizens that America agreed many decades ago that the United States will not torture on our soil or at Gitmo? Geneva Convention 1929,1949 and United Nations 1987. Torture is mentioned only briefly as a war crime committed during the 19th century. Killing of civilians, genocide & using poison gas is quite more prevalent among all nations in combat. Many such crimes go unprosecuted. it appears very clear that torture is classified as a crime against humanity.

Torture does have a lot of issues though, mainly that for every correct bit of information it gives you have lots of incorrect information. All the person wants is to escape the pain, and they will lie their way out of it if they have to.
Besides being humane is our choice, if we were going to drop down to their level we would just blow up important buildings and say too bad to any civilians.

That's a valid statement to a degree at this point their life makes no difference to me and being "humane" is a choice though what the word humane means to one person is different to the other. By not acting you endanger more American lives. However much false evidence is uncovered it's still like rumors where not always entirely true its still revealing. I have no problem with torture tactics in a state of war as long as the torture is to solve something or protect it rather than in a sick fun

Even the government is questioning its effectiveness after the fact. I can understand torturing leaders, people who have the most information and incentive to keep it secret, but traditional interrogation works just as well for the rank and file (and most of the leaders).

See that's very true and I'm not trying to suggest it as first option but I do not agree with the arrests to govt. officers or soldiers for using these tactics. It is war. There are no rules, only politicians that should not be getting involve as it is not their expertise. Firing a general whose father was also a general is pretty foolish because he knows how war works and in a heartbeat I'm sure, if necessary, he would begin torture tactics. You are right though it should not be the 1st option

Why is it not clear to all of our citizens that America agreed many decades ago that the United States will not torture on our soil or at Gitmo? Geneva Convention 1929,1949 and United Nations 1987. Torture is mentioned only briefly as a war crime committed during the 19th century. Killing of civilians, genocide & using poison gas is quite more prevalent among all nations in combat. Many such crimes go unprosecuted. it appears very clear that torture is classified as a crime against humanity.
