I have one of these, and whenever I turn it on, all I get is a white screen. No OSD, no actual video, nothing. Just a white screen. Other than sending it in, can anyone tell me how I can resolve this problem?
great monitor. i got it for $235.99 and its listing price is $515. so i got it for a great laborday weekend sale. amazing for computer and a gaming system.
@CrackerAssHillbilly Overstock has it now for $239 when u include shipping + you can go through the US airways shopping mall portal and get 500 miles for the purchase I'm sure other airline and bonus programs are doing the same with Overstock too
okaa i was planning on getting this monitor for pc gaming and 360 gaming so what's the best way to connect it to a 360 for the best quality? I thought simply connecting via. VGA cable would display in 1080p but I'm not sure. so any help will be greatly appreciated thx.
I've had my eye on this monitor (and the T260HD) for the past few months and my 20" Samsung LCD's backlight finally crapped out today. Looks like it's time to upgrade!
I don't know why, but in Europe this monitor is still 450$ :( But I will buy this or the P2370HD (at same price) on this week. I hesitate which one. The P2370HD has 16:9 screen ratio vs. the T240HD 16:10.
Last week I bought one. It's really perfect for a monitor and for TV too. . Mine is a newer version. It has a new remote control and it has a built in DVB-T MPEG4 tuner instead of MPEG2.
I'm totally getting this, to replace my 17" Samsung SyncMaster 740x, because my 5 year old TV broke down, so I'm gonna get this. Also, thanks for explaining everything, because when I read that there are 2 HDMI ports and a VGA/DVI port in other reveiws, I thought it didn't have component/SCART. Thanks for the nice review, now I can't wait even more for this TV. =P
Hows the TV tuner on this monitor? How does it work? Do u just plug in the Cable and there goes ur TV? Or do u have to have like some sort of program?
I'm the same way bro...I like to see the monitor before I buy it, gives me a chance to look at brightness, picture quality, etc. Bestbuy might carry them.
FragileStaticCircus: I know, dude I can't decide between this or the Dell S2409W 24'' full hd monitor. I heard Dell makes the best monitors but Im not sure which one is better, this T240 or the Dell S2409W
If you heard Dell make the best monitors, then that's probably true...I have a Dell 21.5", and I am happy with it so far...Just go with what you feel would be the best monitor for your needs.
FragileStaticCircus: the only thing I am debating on is wheater I should spend an extra $50-$100 on a monitor that is also an hdtv (T240HD). that's the thing I can't decide on. btw, the hdtv feature on this monitor is just an added bonus for me. because I am mainly going to use this as a monitor. and most likely going to use the hdtv before sleep
It's up to you man, for the extra tuner that's built in for the HDTV feature into the T240HD monitor...For an extra $50-$100 I think that it would be a good investment. I think that you will be happy with whatever you choose, I have never had this monitor so I do not know how it compares to other monitors. Hope this helps.
Fragile: yeah it helps no doubt, the only thing that it comes down to is which brand I should trust more as far as reliability, Dell or Samsung. because I see some people have videos posted here on youtube titled ''do not buy samsung monitors''. and that's a concern for me.
I think as far as reliability goes, I would go for Dell...Samsung's monitor's brightness are dull, and their color is not as vivid as Dell's monitors...hope this helps.
FragileStaticCircus: yeah I knew you would agree with me on that. I'm about 70-80% sure I'm going to stick with the Dell S2409W for all the reasons you mentioned. better brightness, more vivid colors
I appreciate you trying to help consumers out of enthusiasm and the goodness of yr heart or whatever.... but dude! could you just arrange a little more lighting? Half of this is almost unseeable. An extra lamp would make a big difference of the shots of the back.
Yea I agree. I didn't think I'd get 50k views. Also this was shot with a digital camera not an actual video camera which is partly to blame for some of the lighting because it was actually really bright in there.
only disapointment is that most T240HD boxes comes without the DVI... VGA only..
On the bright side, its a great VGA kable..
Also, speakers are not great/fantastic or whatever.. they are suprisingly good for built in's, but dont fool yourself, spending 200$ on a nice stereo speaker set will get you much further. but yes, the sound is okay until you go get yourself some nice speakers..
Thanks for the "real person" review. I'm convinced! I found this model refurbished for $259, which would be quite a bargain if there are no problems. I included a SquareTrade 1 yr warranty just in case.
One question: The monitor is advertised as having "LED SmartLighting" and using 30% less electricity. Does that mean that it uses LED backlighting instead of fluorescent tubes? If not, what is "LED SmartLighting"?
Thanks for reply. I just clicked on the BUY button and should have my very own Samsung T240HD by next week.
As for Wasabi, I guess I can't entice you to a free sushi dinner, huh? Somehow, I get the feeling that you're not a fan of raw fish (unless they're swimming in a tank)...
PS - loved the restrained look on your face when you ate the wasabi. Great to clear nasal passages!
Would you recommend buying this monitor over the ASUS VW246H. Its about 100$ cheaper and the reviews are great but it only has a a dvi, hdmi and a vga port. Plus it doesnt not have a tuner.
Thanks for posting this just a question I'm so close to pulling the trigger and getting this just one question. How does this monitor handle standard def cable like ntsc since it doesnt mention ntsc in the review. Hooking up a tv to my cable out of the wall I get ntsc plus local channels in HD with clear qam will this monitor also get the ntsc stations
two questions, does this TV/monitor if u have it, work well with a cable box with coaxial connectors for SD broadcast? I have a DirectTV with box model D12-100?
btw r u aware of any later models of this same monitor? that has a TV tuner?
i just bought this same monitor a couple days ago and i love it. my xbox 360 looks so good on it. easy to setup easy remote. btw i got mine from newegg also. only thing i really dont is the speakers. sound really thin to me. i probably gonna hook up some bookself speakers to it.
A pure monitor that has 1920 x 1080 instead of 1920 x 1200? It's already rubbish from that alone. 21.5 is pretty low to run at 1080p, 24" is the perfect starting point.
I just noticed something hilarious. That chick in the blue shirt on comedy central? I was surfing the channels and was watching that earlier today on this very same monitor. WTF? haha anyways thanks for this review it was well done and played a role in my decision to get this. I have to say it looks much bigger in person. pictures and videos online do not give it justice.
Thank you for a great review. I am looking forward to buy this monitor, and I want to ask you, can I connect my analogue (old type cable) TV, and watch without using digital TV signal? Similarly like connecting cheap antenna :D
yes mine just came in and having the same question tested that. It works but be warned analogue tv on this looks like shit. of course it's not really meant for that aging technology. This review is right on anyways and I couldn't be happier with this monitor. Oh, if you still have yet to buy this check out newegg where I got mine for $350 with free shipping. you probably will not find a better deal unless you go refurbished which I do not recommend because the small saving isn't really worth it
I mean its tilted backwards not forward. Its tilted backwards, its not straight like the one in your vid!? Someone help. It was like this was I opend it out the box. Is the stand itself broken!? Man, Its annoying me now!
I don't think he would replace it. Its all brand new! Anyways, it looks like I can un screw the bottom stand and get it fixed. If not, I will try and replace the bottom stand only!
Its ok now! I phoned up the power seller from ebay. He said that its a tilting stand. (lol) so I just tilted it back straight! I must have tilted it when unboxing. Can't believe I never relized I had to tilt it.
When u watch TV on this.. does it not stretch to all corners? I wish it does cuz i dont really mind the image being distorted a bit when its stretched.. does it fill up the whole screen?
I have this HDTV and no matter what I do the top always look darker than the bottom and not by abit. I thought it was the video card but it is the same thing for the xbox360. I dont know if I want to return it because it is the same thing as a previous samsung monitor bwx 26 that I returned. Any of you guys encounter the same thing? Is easy to test, just drag winamp or any media player up and down and check if there is a change
Im buying a second monitor for my laptop, but i want them to work at the same time. is it possible to allow both screens to be functional at the same time using a single cursor going screen 2 screen?
Looks like a great monitor. I was gonna get this one but heard it doesn't run games pretty well, so when I saw an Acer g24 cheap, i got it. It was hard decision cuz this one's also a full hdtv.
OMG i was trying it figure out which one to get, I was going to get the G24 at newegg but I went to best buy and saw the T240 not the HD one cause I dont need it for TV view just games. I also found out that the 50,000:1 contrast ration was a lie on the G24. How do you like the the G24?cuase im still deciding. I think the T240 runs games better than the T240HD but im not sure.
You sound like a gamer, so here's my advice: only get G24 when it's very cheap, say, under $380. T240 could be an option, but not the only one other than g24. Check out for HP w2408h, BenQ V2400W, and V7 D24W33 as well and you may be surprised. All "dynamic" ratios are jokes, ignore them. What I like bout g24 is 92% colour saturation. If you got more money to spare, go for Dell 2408WFP or BenQ FP241W. Their quality is way above anyone else here cuz of their different panel technologies.
Is anyone using an Xbox 360 on this monitor? I got one today, and I am running it at 1080p with HDMI, but the text on the 360 looks kinda blurry, almost like it isn't being run at it's native res... any advice on how to make the 360 look better on it?
Eh, I figured this problem is mostly with COD4... did some research and the game runs at a very low resolution! TV looks fine with other games though, like Rock Band.
The biggest differences between this monitor and the T240 is obviously that this one support HDTV but the T240 has a 20000:1 contrast ratio and this one only has a 10000:1 ratio may not seem like much of a difference but at 20000:1 the blacks are very black!

Still, low lag is by far the most important factor in a gaming monitor
I think it goes lag>response time>black detail>aspect ratio>BlB>color acuracy

holy shit you but a 21 foot monitor. why the fuck would you do that

Cnet said the T.V. is bad for gaming but WTF do they know
1nnocentDeviL 2 years ago 5
I just noticed something hilarious. That chick in the blue shirt on comedy central? I was surfing the channels and was watching that earlier today on this very same monitor. WTF? haha anyways thanks for this review it was well done and played a role in my decision to get this. I have to say it looks much bigger in person. pictures and videos online do not give it justice.

Hello,
Thank you for a great review. I am looking forward to buy this monitor, and I want to ask you, can I connect my analogue (old type cable) TV, and watch without using digital TV signal? Similarly like connecting cheap antenna :D
Mindauxx 2 years ago
yes mine just came in and having the same question tested that.

FEARFUL1989 3 years ago
The stand is probably bent. I'd call up where you bought it from.
levi094 3 years ago
I bought it from a "Power Seller" ebay!
I don't think he would replace it. Its all brand new! Anyways, it looks like I can un screw the bottom stand and get it fixed. If not, I will try and replace the bottom stand only!
FEARFUL1989 3 years ago
My monitor "T240" is bent forward!? Someone help. Like its tilted forward and not straight!
FEARFUL1989 3 years ago
did you attach the base backwards?
BorisQuan 2 years ago
Its ok now! I phoned up the power seller from ebay. He said that its a tilting stand. (lol) so I just tilted it back straight! I must have tilted it when unboxing. Can't believe I never relized I had to tilt it.
FEARFUL1989 2 years ago
Hey uploader if you want us to view it in HQ upload it in HQ! Don't just put &fmt=18 behind it that doesn't help much...

When u watch TV on this.. does it not stretch to all corners? I wish it does cuz i dont really mind the image being distorted a bit when its stretched.. does it fill up the whole screen?
tuberoako777 3 years ago
this screen makes sure all the pixles are 1:1 so it doesn't stretch.
You probably can adjust that too.
slopedarmor 3 years ago
160 160 viewing angles, that sucks!
starbrighter 3 years ago
No that's not bad at all.

esraesuocs 3 years ago
Hi, could you tell me how many inches of space are between the desk and the bottom of the monitor, and can you tilt the monitor screen?
Thanks.
BigWinner1234 3 years ago
Higest space between the deks and the bottom is 8,5 cm (centimeter) and lowest is ~7,5 cm. And yes it is possible to tilt monitor screen.

Its perfect for ps3 i have one
LoversOne1 3 years ago
is this tv better then Samsung 22" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV (LN22A330)? i want to use it for watching tv and play PS3, not as a computer monitor
PerZiaNPriNce7 3 years ago
I have. Look in my videos.
levi094 3 years ago
I have this HDTV and no matter what I do the top always look darker than the bottom and not by abit. I thought it was the video card but it is the same thing for the xbox360. I dont know if I want to return it because it is the same thing as a previous samsung monitor bwx 26 that I returned. Any of you guys encounter the same thing? Is easy to test, just drag winamp or any media player up and down and check if there is a change

Im buying a second monitor for my laptop, but i want them to work at the same time. is it possible to allow both screens to be functional at the same time using a single cursor going screen 2 screen?
TheWesleyAdams 3 years ago
yea
levi094 3 years ago
Yes thats possible, though i dont know how to fix that, but you can set up a main screen and a second screen.
JsAero 3 years ago
In your video card driver settings or just display settings set the mode to clone. It will simply duplicate the screen onto the second one.

Looks like a great monitor. I was gonna get this one but heard it doesn't run games pretty well, so when I saw an Acer g24 cheap, i got it. It was hard decision cuz this one's also a full hdtv.
jokerrichard0317 3 years ago
OMG i was trying it figure out which one to get, I was going to get the G24 at newegg but I went to best buy and saw the T240 not the HD one cause I dont need it for TV view just games. I also found out that the 50,000:1 contrast ration was a lie on the G24. How do you like the the G24?cuase im still deciding. I think the T240 runs games better than the T240HD but im not sure.
rviver1 3 years ago
You sound like a gamer, so here's my advice: only get G24 when it's very cheap, say, under $380. T240 could be an option, but not the only one other than g24. Check out for HP w2408h, BenQ V2400W, and V7 D24W33 as well and you may be surprised. All "dynamic" ratios are jokes, ignore them. What I like bout g24 is 92% colour saturation. If you got more money to spare, go for Dell 2408WFP or BenQ FP241W. Their quality is way above anyone else here cuz of their different panel technologies.
jokerrichard0317 3 years ago
forgot the currency ratio. Can$390 is the price I paid for g24. So that's like what, 320 US$?
jokerrichard0317 3 years ago
Is anyone using an Xbox 360 on this monitor? I got one today, and I am running it at 1080p with HDMI, but the text on the 360 looks kinda blurry, almost like it isn't being run at it's native res... any advice on how to make the 360 look better on it?
SuperSnake2012 3 years ago
Did you set it up to 1:1 pixel to pixel resolution with xbox360? This means switching from monitor's native 1200p to 1080p to match 360's resolution.
jokerrichard0317 3 years ago
Eh, I figured this problem is mostly with COD4... did some research and the game runs at a very low resolution! TV looks fine with other games though, like Rock Band.
SuperSnake2012 3 years ago
dus als je dit echt zwaar klote vind , zou je misschien kunnen overleggen om hem om te ruilen voor ee t240hd , waar heb je hem gekocht trouwens?
creationofsociety 3 years ago
we don't like the sound too much. sounds tinny. otherwise nice TV/monitor.
redstrat49 3 years ago
is this full hd OR HD READy?
erdal0 3 years ago
i have the 26" version of this :P
trepxtrechi 3 years ago
The T240HD also has 1:1 Mapping don't even look at the T240.
tuzalov 3 years ago 3
The biggest differences between this monitor and the T240 is obviously that this one support HDTV but the T240 has a 20000:1 contrast ratio and this one only has a 10000:1 ratio may not seem like much of a difference but at 20000:1 the blacks are very black!
