Not necessarily. Akuma has tons of strengths, but there are some wide gaps in his defense if you know how to exploit them. I've seen some exceptional Ryu's and this guy is nowhere near that quality. At this point though I wouldn't say any character is whack, cept for maybe Sagat. xD

I'm glad Akuma doesn't take hits like a schoolgirl (like in 3rd Strike) anymore to compensate for his strength. I don't care how good you are with Akuma in 3S, you have to admit that his stamina is really low. But this is more like it.
I know he has the second to lowest stamina in the game (850 vs Seth's 800) but still Akuma he takes damage better than in 3S. Did you play that game? You could watch some Youtube vids. You can take him out in like 3/4 hits. At least you can play a bit more defensive in SF4 with him.
no, it's about the same in both games. akuma has 985 in 3rd strike, to take him out in 4 hits you would need something like hugo's throw, but 4 of those would take out yun/yang/necro/chun li etc. 4 spd from zangief would take out akuma in sf4 anyway. characters in 3rd strike does slightly more damage but the difference is around 1%.
i just wished they had cyber and shin akuma on it.

Normal Shoryuken into Metsu Hadoken, Focus Attack - dash forward into Metsu Hadoken. (opponent in air) Metsu Hadouken.
It's easy to use if you know how to include it into a combo.
