It seems like they could have gotten away if he wouldn't have went back into the bank. I agree about the final stand. They were definitely prepared for something big... i mean besides a bank heist. Otherwise it would have happened a lot sooner. When they came outside and the cops were waiting they probably flew into defense mode and fired upon anyone that moved. i never seen the movie, but in the real thing, the cops sent out a order to be able to have m16s in their trunk or so incase of stuff like that 2 weeks or so before this robbery, so during the robbery there were around 350 cops with pistols... not a single rifle, SWAT arrived like 5 mins before the guy shot himself, but SWATs first objective was to get the injured to safety, so they borrowed a Armored Car from the bank.

Well that was most stupid way they could take to try run away where there was police choppers and news choppers following them maybe they could drive far away from the bank but they couldnt escape it was a metter of time when SWAT team will arrive ;x. He was a robber but he deserved to get medical help.

Amazing things happened that day.

For one, the police happened to know about the robbery only because a patrol car drove by just as they were going in... and it wasn't even supposed to be there!

One of the guys AK's jammed towards the end for no reason, it had a simple fix too, but instead he abandoned the gun and 2 min. later shot himself.

And most of all? It's a miracle no one was killed EXCEPT the thieves!
