Sitting behind elementary schools, circa 1972, drinking warm beer we stashed in the woods, and fuckin jammin out to The Who. We had Live at Leeds / IOW out in the woods. Yeah......
moon, in any other band, sounds like SHIT... more john bt also pete made him sound AMAZING! Keith moon is 100 percent best drummer, same goes for the ox john entwistle! both masters of their instruments... townshend? kick ass riffs and even amazing lyrics that inspire so much bands!! roger? love u hahaha :D love the who though... their all amazing!
@sulmagnificent - The song is called "Water," but it was born out of live jams. It was released as the B side to two different singles, "5:15" and "Love Reign O'er Me." It also appears on some of the remastered and deluxe CD re-releases.
@TuberOnTheLoose thanks a bunch, I found the studio version on "Odds and Sods" and on the deluxe version of who's next in case someone else is looking for it
@TuberOnTheLoose do you mean this song was born out of a jam session following on from when they performed the song water at some other previous occasion or something ... cos the song water sounds completely different to this jam and they performed that song anyway earlier in the set list of this very show so this cant be any part of the actual song as they would have performed it then ??
@arealOpia1991 - Everything in the first minute is from "Sparks" off of Tommy. Then Roger sings some lyrics from "Water." After that it does sound like total improvisation. Sorry for the confusion.
noooooo..... sounddddd toooo epic!!!!... NNOOOOOO!!!!!! *computer stereo explodes*............................... well seeing this video in exchange for my comp exploding was definitely worth it :D
@adders45 anyone like who who has seen him play live ... fuck i cant evn say how lucky you are and how jealous i am ..aaaaaaaaa... and i totally agree with you no one has - he is totally UNIQUE
@mikeytheghostbuster I guess that blows roger waters out of the equation. Hmm, well if its any concellation Moonie is it for me as drummer just utterly and completely and funny how he predominately watches Pete and just riffs of him, as oppose to the classic"bass/drum section, he brings it on another level and to have who you think(and let me interject Jack Bruce) the greatest bassist is is sort of left on his own to play geniusly which I agree. So I'm guessing the Who are your favorite band?
@NinjaKidLesPaulDude if you think passion and feeling trumps technique you could say joey is one of the best drummers in the world but he is no where near one of the best. so passion means nothing if you cant play
@NinjaKidLesPaulDude passion and feeling can only get you so far, to truley express yourself you need an understanding of theory and technique so you have a basis on which to go on when the passion comes out. If you play guitar you understand me perfectly, and if you don't - you're one of those ignorant posters with uneducated opinions.
wtf everyone forgets John Entwisle!! the greatest bassist ever. without him this sound crap (well actually, keith and pete alone still sound awesome..., but still you guys get the point)
@0funmaster0 : I'm with you. The Ox has no equal. I see that Roger is touring a "Tommy" show. I can't see how they could find anyone who will fill his shoes, not to mention Moonie's.
@0funmaster0 yes,in every genre the bass is the support of the music, and when you got on the bass to the greatest player of all times, you will have a great music, jhon "thunderfingers" entwistle are the best bass player of all times even on his dead R.I.P.
ive been looking up drummers all day looking for who i could call the best as far as rock goes and damn everyone keeps saying keith moon vs neil peart and hahaha to that keith moon sounds like every other drummer ive ever heard and has no technique what so ever . PEART ALL THE WAY
That's proof there is NO God dude. Cuz if there was Justin Beiber and Nickelback would never have been born and Keith and John, Jimi, Morrison, SRV, Lennon, Bonham, Freddie, Allman , etc etc would all still be alive. No God.
I really wish Pete would've pulled an Abbie Hoffman on the dude sitting on the stage who keeps acting like a damn fool and getting into the camera shot.
