they paint their bodies in black as a costume...its kind of like hallowen...except hallowen is only 1 day and u go trick or treating...but a carnival in cv last for a week...and its like a parade...

It's three days of holidays only for carnival, and yes, the answer is very close, it's a costume that some people have, but it's not paint actually, they use oil(literally) and that I can't answer you why :P Since I'm a kid there is allways a group that walks like that, and they walk around and if you are "lucky" they go to you and hug you leaving you all "oily"(don't know how to write it :P)... Hope it helped :)

it looks like jouve (jab jab) like in the west indies. i know this is CV but it looks lik ethey have the same thing in west indian carnivals black oil paint and stuff tp play jab jab! and then they have masquerade outfits for carnival morning. that's what it looks like to me
