You either do a sweep or a trip. A trip takedown should have one motion with the right foot to get more momentum. When he caught it, he transferred weight to left foot then moved right foot for the trip. He was more set up for a sweep. After he catches foot he should have just swept out the leg with his left. It is much more fluid.
@hopked ....Keep trying to convince your glass jaw that, homey. Never heard of a good "liver shiver?" Muay thai will wear an opponent down until you are ready to finish him off, but by then, you are tired also. Why not know Jui- Jitsu? @AvirtualSwitzerland I train Jits, and I recommend you read wtf people post before making your self look like an ignorant jack ass. if you got him this way to the ground and you kicked him in the balls there s no need to go for that lock! Just keep kicking him..try to give him a soccerkick to the head instead.
Taking a street fight to the ground, intentionally, is just going to get you hurt. In this age fights are never 1v1 anymore it's always 1v2 and 3 and 4 etc. Scenario, your on the ground roughing up some punk then his buddy steps in with a bat, whats your plan now? Conclusion: smashed up face or dead. Unfortunately jj is no longer practical for self defense unless you know 100% there is only 1 opponent..
I am a jujitsu practitioner and I must say I wholly disagree with you. If you want to make a comment liketht then you need to look at jujitsu as a wider martial art. Just like with karate or judo there are some forms of jujitsu which are less useful in todays world, but jujitsu is a very wide martial art. the form of jujitsutht i do deals with defending yourself against single or multiple opponents and no aspect of contemporary lifeis left out when discussing defences techniques in fights
Drunk no1 try to smash your head with a cricketbat. You step into him and give him a headbut that gives him a concussion and a fracture to the scull
Drunk no2 try to hit you with his fist. You manage to half block the punch and end op in a clinchposition where you give him a knee to the balls so he is puking all over you
Meanwhile drunk no3 doing a lousy job trying to kick you ind the back. And seeing that hes the only one left you do what is shown on the movie ;-)

ummm no its not going to the ground in a fight is a very effective way to fight an opponent because not very many people have ground fighting skills. Dont act smart
@danjack17 Jujitsu is usually a defense on a 1v1 fight.. going into the lock position is only necessary when you are in a 1v1 fight and when your opponent isn't willing to back down there for you use the lock position for submission.
jujitsu isn't all about submissions, jujitsu formed in Brazil is but not traditional jujitsu. you can go to ground, you can stand and fight, you can bite, pull, punch, gauge, whatever you have to do to win, that's jujitsu... then for comp and general training it is reformed into offensive and defensive hand strikes (boxing), kicking, take downs and submissions... you get taught to avoid the fight unless its inevitable, in that case if there is more then one always focus on the leader
@carveyournamein Unless you are better than your opponent on the ground and the fight is 1 on 1. In which case you would definitely be better wrestling.
@carveyournamein "going to the ground" is what happens in 80% of street fights. that why brazillian jiu jitsu was created in the first place. even so. "groin punch"? come on... don't be that guy...
