no drilling in Wyoming county. my county is to pretty to ruin. to many people are on wells here, you would ruin everyone's water. are you willing to purchase everyone's house here at above fair market value. this makes your water unusable and your home will be worthless. we should make it so they cannot frack anywhere.

Solar Power!? Need a lot of real estate to even produce a fraction of what coal or natural gas generator's can put out. Sun doesn't always shine making it an extremely volatile source of power as well. Read Against Intellectual Monopoly and read up on the effect of IP on renewable energy technology if there is any info on it. These counties that are poorer than the dirt they reside on, which some economists think makes them as rich as the dirt they reside on if they lease it, will still have to pay for clean drinking water, which may cost more than the money from leasing out. Instead of saying people need to buy less stuff first, instead raise prices and they will buy less and make do with it.

IF the water is so damn safe, have the executives of hydrofracking companies drink a certain glass of water for a year containing about or a little less than .1%, whatever is fair, of the formula they are keeping secret, and see what happens. I know it sounds medieval, but you get the idea.

It's not medieval at all. It's pure accountabillity and pure common sense. What are they so afraid of if the water is not contaminated by them?

Either they'll be healthy and abdicated, or they'll have 596 "guilty" verdicts for each chemical they poisoned people with.

@BeAnEarthNut I live in Lycoming County, PA. Over 80 wells are currently operational and 1000 more are planned. There has been no water contamination reported and the companies face losing drilling rights if they are found culpable.

@bowerinPSU when the first well was drilled, well water in surrounding homes should be tested, if their is no water contamination bye now, Then their is a chance the Rock may stable to frack and not contaminate wells and or streams when you get closer to sea level. the shame of it all is once its contaminated and Old water test results Lost, you could end up lied to about the Natural levels of what ever was in the water test before the fracking was dun at all. Never lose first water test results

New York state uses about 8% of the entire nation's natural gas, according to EPA. If you want to be somewhat non-hypocritical about stopping these companies from fracking, first stop buying their products.But wait, you still aren't a "real" hippie yet.You need to also cease your modern way of life completely since everything you use directly or indirectly came from fossil fuels.Best bet is to go live in a self sustaining commune and farm. This is suspicious - The oil leak/s that BP supposedly can't cap could just be a distraction tactice to divert attention from this lastest release of information, on natural gas drilling, to the public.

Or, this latest emphasis on the technic for natural gas drilling is being used to draw attention away from the unstopable oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

I don't trust heads of Corprations nor is it easy for me to trust all congress & senate persons - Reps & Dems.

These people have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.NYS drinking water comes from the SURFACE, not underground. Fracing will have no effect on their supply. Fracing has been going on for well over 80 years with no effect on either the surface water and rarely on the aquifers.

@rsm6912 ha ha ha !!! such a 'head in the sand man'......water in ny state comes mostly from mountain run of - called RIVERS- which are on the ground....btw it is not uncommon for underground water to be in ny tap water.......an aquafilter is much more than river water
