Gaara used the sand as a lightning rod to disperse the lightning, so she couldn't concentrate it at him. So basically he made the sand like glass in a light bulb.

@nascar138 Yeah, his action shows good physics-in-application action. But did you notice one thing: Lightning bolt moves so much faster yet Gaara's sand defense can keep up with it. But when he faught Rock Lee, he couldn't keep up w/ his speed. Does that mean Lee can move faster than lightning bolt? IMPOSSIBLE. Big mistake on kishimoto's part.

@mindsoulbody True her lighting was fast, but she was always attacking Gaara from the front. Even if her lighting was that fast, attacking from one direction all the time can be easily defended. Lee however would attack from one direction then change it to another never committing to a single direction. Gaara was of balance and couldn't set up his defense. Basically he pulled a bait n switch.

@Slabben The only reason naruto "the asshole" has lived up to this far is because of his creator has made him live. Otherwise, he could get his ass kicked by anyone. Fact is, he says "believe it" more than he kicks someone's ass. And getting up after falling back is a good trait, but repetition of that thing as the MOST important thing gets annoying. And no, not everyone can rise after fall. Naruto is a douch.
