  • S up loud lol

  • That kinda scared me lol I had my headphone

  • Can you do a slash tone! PLS pls!

  • hendrix not used compressors or chorus effects.. not good.. it's your tone

  • I've watched several of your videos on here, I wish you'd do one on achieving a good John Mayer "Slow Dancing" type tone and perhaps a Derek Trucks.Robben Ford or Jimmy Herring type thing. I use my X3 Live for modern rock stuff quite a bit, but haven't been able to get anything close to those tones out of it.

  • omg i think i just had an eyegasm

  • Glenn, I hope I'm not asking a stupid question, but is the x3 used with your amp clean channel or do you supplament your amp crunch with the x3? Guess what I am asking is does your amp stay on clean the whole time no matter what the setting is on the x3.

  • @skygod684 Yes if you use this device going through a real amp it's best to leave the amp on the clean channel.

  • You're amazing with the pod x3 live. Have you just tried things out with it? All your sounds are great.

  • @kleinebudde Thank you Jan, I've had the X3 for a few years now.

  • hello I'm from Romania...you doing a god job....a very great job....I have a line 6 x3 live and if u can help me.....I looking for a overdrive like Europe,Slash in one word a fat solo overdrive...if you can help please!!!

  • does this X3 Live have a true bypass option ? or does one have to create a "bypass" patch that sounds like your baypassed guitar ?

  • Can you plug in this pedalboard into a mac??

  • @yeahferereth Yes it is MAC compatible

  • Glenn,

Seems like pod x3 live is no longer sold by Line 6. Don't tell me I own an obsolete device! What's up with the HD stuff they're selling now? Same amp modeling and stomps as x3 live? Let me know, thanks.

Btw, line6 still plans on supporting x3 live for a while longer, right? Just want to make sure Gearbox and monkey will always be compatible.

    Thanks,

    Scott

  • @skreese33 Hey Scott, no Line6 is not giving up on the X3. The new HD units have different modeling and some different amps. Not as many as the X3 though. Only 16 amps are in the HD units.

  • Glenn...where'd you find the backing track for WCM? BTW, my wife's from Lafayette...can tell you've got that cajun accent ....aayyyyieeeeee!!!!

  • @skreese33 Oh cool!!! I made that backing track myself in my studio.

  • Hi,

I am stuck in somewhere else in between of boss gt10 and line 6 x3 live.

I think most of the viewer asked the same question to u too.

The question is ,Which 1 u prefer the most? Gt10? X3 live?

I'm want to get 1 of dis multi effect. Boss always did the great job in their pedal effect, but yet x3 live have more features on the recording.

No worries... I just want to

Know ur own thought or some advise... =D

    Sorry for my bad English.

    Gary, Malaysia.

  • @garydudu Hey Gary, the answer to that question really depends on what type of music you will be playing.

  • @extremevideopro Glad to hear u again... Erm...im prefer on blues and rock n roll....not that really metal tone... So..any idea for any one of this? =D

  • @garydudu Either would be good for Blues or Rock.

  • It's a nice sound and tune and all but it isn't 'Hendrix'. It's way to over processed. No doubt a covers band playing live would sound good with this kit but for real tone, less is more.

  • hey have any good slash like tones?

  • @slashzakkkirk You can download my bundle and try out some of my tones. I'm sure I have some in ther that would be a good starting point.

  • @extremevideopro Where do I download the bundle?

  • @drdhdc00 If you go to my channel I have a link to my blog. You can get it there.

  • @slashzakkkirk type in pod x3 AFD on youtube, there's an amzing video with the settings and everything.

  • Wow! That is the most acoustic sounding tone I've ever heard come from a magnetic pickup. Line 6 owes you some money for these demos.

  • Pod x3 or pod x3 live, someone help me please! I really don't know which one I want. at first I thought the Pod x3 but then I saw the pedal features and ough... I really am confused, can someone just compare them simply and tell me what differences and comparisons they have, thanks.

  • @bandofredempion The X3-Live has the pedal board as you can see and also more I/O options. Other than that the sound is the same on both units.

  • @extremevideopro ok, do they both have the same recording quality?

  • @bandofredempion Yes they do.

  • @extremevideopro Thanks. I'm going to purchase the POD X3 Live.

  • dude can u make a video for paul gilbert's early sounds

such as in songs like technical difficulties!!

  • Okay, you seem to know what you're talking about. Could I hook the POD X3 Live up to my Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 and make some noise that way? And if I did that, could I still get a decent tone if I made my Peavey sound neutral? Thanks man.

  • @Gurut2009 Oh yes, although this was recorded direct, you should still be able to get a great sound with that Peavey 2x12.

  • @extremevideopro Okay, thank you very much, sir! I was going to shell out $500 for an Ibanez TBX150h with the matching cab, but I think I'll spend that on the POD X3 Live instead. More versatile. Thanks again!

  • what is the song at the end

  • @NaruNarto Jimmy Hendrix "Wind Cries Mary"

  • really like ur vids and wondering if u have any tips for what to use to get a kinda clean acoustic sound on it?

  • @slashzakkkirk Try the Line6 Sparkle amp model. It has very clean sounds that could resemble an acoustic with the right EQing.

  • Amazing tone! I was wondering if you would recommend the x3 live to someone who doesnt play live very often. Also if the Normal x3 can get the same tones? AND also, where did you get that shirt (its awesome)?

  • @blackalbino360 Yes the X3 can get the same tones as the X3-Live. Can't remember where I got that shirt.

  • hey man, sweet strat, was wondering if the little pods line6 carrys can emulate some of the tones the x3 live gets? if you dont know, its cool. thanx for sharing.

  • @42lynchmob I'd say yes they can come very close

  • Well Glenn!

Thanks a lot for answering so fast!

It helped mi a lot =D

I'm seeing all of your videos!

    Hahahaha!

    Cheers!

  • GLENN!

    YOU ROCK MAN!

I have a question for you,

I´m about to get a POD x3 Live...Is it really good?

If you are playing with a Hi-Gain patch, is there humming when you don´t play?

What about the GT-10, what is your favorite?

Glen, keep doing that great job!

Sorry about my english, I´m from Argentina....

    Thank you so much!

    Demian

  • @demianjohnson Hey Demian, there may be hum but it depends on the guitar and the pick-ups. I think the X3 does Hi-Gain better than the GT-10

  • Could you connect this to a cabinet?

  • Also, is it able to loop?

  • @olufssenn Well there isn't a looper on the X3 but using a very long delay you can loop 1 riff and then play over that 1 riff. There is a video on this somewhere on the Line6 site.

  • Can I change channels of my amp (Peavey 6505+) with POD X3 Live??

  • @bloodyhell131 The only way would be via MIDI. If your amp has MIDI then it might be possible but I can't say for sure.

  • fuck u with u 031 shit but good video

  • can u tell me does it has harmonizer effect??harmonist

  • @karachi90 The POD X3 does not have a harmonizer effect as far as I know.

  • ae massa suas dicas show, mais q instrumental é esse que voce usa de inicio? me passa ai maneiro. valeu

  • Wow, man! Perfect! haha

  • i just started using the X3 Live for gigs, and it's been GREAT! as long as you have a good PA system, and a soundman that can dial in a good sound, the X3 Live is amazing for gigging. i am really digging it!

  • Can you tell me if I can use this pedal with a Spider III 75?

  • Sure you can

  • @extremevideopro

Wow, what a pretty fast answer!

    Thank you so much.

I really don't want to buy a FBV for my Spider III, I think de PODX3L will be better for me.

    Thanks for the anwser.

  • Hi, I've been looking into buying this, but I'm not quite sure if it's the right thing for me. I've been playing for about 8 months and really enjoy it. I want something that has lots of different effects and also works for both bass/guitar at the same time (which this does right?)But I'm not quite sure if this is the right effects thing I should be looking at? Do I just plug both my guitars into the Pod, and then run cords to my amps and play? Or does it have to go through a computer? Thanks

  • Yes you can use a guitar and bass with this and run them to 2 different amps. You do not need a computer to use this.

  • @extremevideoproThank you for clearing that up for me.

  • Yes I would keep that type of connection

  • The Pod X3 Live 'is' an external audio interface.

Going into another interface is redundant and from the analog outs adds another round conversion.

The signal chain you have, is

Analog from guitar into Pod's A/D. Out Pod's D/A to Pod's Analog outs. Then, once again Analog back into another interface's A/D converter.

Which is adding another layer of quantization and circuit noise to the signal.

Typically not the best method unless u like what the added noise is doing to the signal.

  • How the hell can you get this extreme high quality of record? Do you think it is all about the quality of the tone, or the way you connect the pod to the PC is the most important element?

I have doubt about buying an external audio device, like yours.

  • You really need an external audio interface to do any serious type of recording. My trick to getting good recorded tone is to make sure I have the hottest signal going in, almost on the verge of clipping but not quite. Also I am using the standard L&R outputs not USB.

  • 4:24 is when the demo starts , so your not waiting

  • Someone said it before, Thanks for the great tutorials.

Question: Would you have a favorite clip for the Boss GT series.

I am deciding which to use Line 6 or Boss.

  • Not sure what you mean by "favorite clip".

    WHO DAT!!

  • can i play this line6 pod x3 live on my randall rx75r amplifier?

  • sure you can.

  • What Audio Interface Box Do You Use??

And Is It Better Than Using The USB Out?

    Thanks For Your Great Tutorials..

  • at home, do you play through an amp?? or through headphones?

  • Yes I always use an amp now. The Traynor YCS50. See my channel for my demo of the amp.

  • All of your videos are well done and highly informative. By the way, which case at Rondo did you get?

  • It's the CNB PDC-410E BK Pedal Case

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome! Just wondering what type case you have the X3 in.

  • I got that case at Rondo Music.

  • hey i noticed the bridge on your strat and did you buy it like that or did you have it put on?

  • No that's a factory installed Floyd Rose Trem.

  • Thanks ma man ;) I just dialed it into my pod X3 live and learned the sing too!

Thanks Again.. Keep Shar'n the awsome tones, I appreciate it!

  • i remember watching your review of this and you werent using the preamp thing you were using the little dials... is their a difference and this looks kinda complicated to me to (hope not cause i want this until i can afford a new amp)

  • i think it sounds like srv clean

  • Friggin awesome! Love it!

  • Hi! Im 15 and i'd like to get x3, for fun just now and than for future needs, it looks pretty complicated just now, all the presets, settings etc... Do You think its suitable for me, and i will get the controle of it? :) thanks for help

  • I have several X3 videos that will teach you how to use it. Also check out my friend alexromechado here on youtube. He has plenty X3 vids also that will teach you.

  • nice wind cries-tone there. DO YOU SHARE THE PRESET??

  • Yes you can go to my blog and download my bundle and you will find this sound in there.

  • @extremevideopro

    Cooooool! THX

  • Cool, but it's so complicated to operate and in my opinion it's is an artificial sound. I couldn't imagine Hendrix making those settings with three or four cigars in his brain....he made it only with his amps and the fuzz..

  • There was alot more involved with Hendrix' sound than that. His guitar, fingers, hands and unorthodox guitar playing style and Eddie Kramer's recording techniques had just as much to do with his sound than the amp & fuzz. We can only hope to come close or somewhere in the ballpark with our modern day tools.

  • Agree man, Hendrix was a genius...

  • hey please can u answer me????

  • Actually,in brief, this guy just set up two amplifiers with a little bit of effect on each one - just what Jimmi would have done. He just doesn't have to buy thousands of dollars worth of amps and effects and lug them all over the place to do it. The x3l is a great tool.

  • and finally is the zoom quality better by having the tubes??

(which is the better in the sound quality?)

  • sorry man I don't have the zoom so I can't really say.

  • @extremevideopro ok thanks anyway..

    :(

  • The Zoom unit is a heap of shit and sounds awful

  • jajaja men i a almost sure u hasnt tried it... do u know mattrach use it for most of his songs?

dont do that type of coments men ;)

  • Not only have I used it but I own 1. No I didn't buy it, it was given to me as a present from my wife (I felt like hitting her with it). It is the 2nd most awful sounding unit I have ever tried, the most awful is the Zoom 2020, but this unit runs it very close. The X3 is in a different league from any Zoom unit on the market. It's a better man than me who can get a decent playable sound from this heap of crap.

  • @stookiebhoy

ok i ll will try those 2 (x3 + zoom g9) and also tonelab le and the boss gt 10

aaaa and its the only bad comment ive heart of the zoom g9 ;)

  • dont believe u ;)

  • (its an open mind cuestion. Not only pod x3 or boss gt 10)

  • Does it have phrase loop? Could you please make a video about this...

  • No it does not have a phrase loop.

  • i am almost buying a zoom...

what effect do u think i must choose for recording and for very dirt and very clean good sound??

(i ll be very pleased if u answer me. I will left this decition to u cos ive seen that u are exelent in this.

    Thanks

  • hey! havnt u think on buying a zoom g9.2tt and doing tutorials of that effect. I ve heart very good thing of it.

  • COOL!

  • Hello very nice clips but could you do a very short video about tuner in this device? how it looks on display? does he got fast reation for string. It would be very nice. Can it read low tuning? It would be very nice clip

  • great video!

can you do the dual tone in am amp??

  • Now I am looking at this and the Boss GT-10. I own a Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster. I am in a performing band. Which of the two do you think would be best for my rig set up and also for live performance?

  • Great videos man!!! .

I have a question about the pod x3live , can i record muy guitar with the USB cable and the software? directly to the computer? TX

  • Yes, you can record USB but you will need additional software. The POD does not come with digital recording software.

  • hello what's the name of the song what you play at the end of video? thank you ( iam french i don't speak english very well.)

  • Wind Cries Mary by Jimmy Hendrix

  • Hi Glenn,

I have a problem, I don't know if I want the GT-10 or The X3 Live. Which one do you think is the best?

  • Please check my blog for an in-depth comparison of both units. It might help you make up your mind.

  • Hi Glenn!

Did you make the backing track yourself?

  • Yes i did.

  • Ok Extreme you are officially a bad ass and Line 6 should include your videos with their products. You simplify their madness!

  • what will the pod x3 sound like through a valve amp

  • like hell man!, fantastic!, ive herad a live pod xt via a fender twin amp, and what can i say, the best revers, delays and modulators ive heard in my whole life, but distortions were not on the level (well, the guitar was a fender stratocaster deluxe hs with single humbuckers, so no much distortion will come of it). Maybe through a valved marshall or boogie, but in that case you don need the line 6, a few pedals will make the job very well.

  • Hi Glenn. What is easier to use?

I mean to programme and to use live?

Boss GT-10 or POD X3 Live?

    Thanks

  • They're both about the same. GT-10 has way more flexibility.

  • Desagree . . . .POD is way more easy to tweek and im including any unit of them.

you can make good tone out of a Boss GT's with lot of time more than you need for tweeking L6's. . .

  • Sounds great! Just for future reference - The Wind Cries Mary is in the key of "F", not "E".

  • Actually it is in E. Hendrix usually tuned a half step flat (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb), so that F Major chord is actually an E Major.

  • great cover and sound at the end of the wind cries mary

  • I'm sold

  • wow -- you really know your stuff -- and the Hendrix sound and feel is EXCELLENT -- well done!!!

  • very nice

  • i wish you would make a video for everything im thinking about buying.Great Job

  • would it be possible to re do this lesson because it is very difficult to see what is being changed love your videos by the way

  • hi Glenn!!, I'm really impressed with your work, Congratulations!!, I need your help, I want to create the same tone of the intro of nothing else matters by metallica but I don't know how, can you help me?, thanks for all, have a nice day, bye

  • what kind of guitar will you be using??

  • I have a Yamaha EG 112, and this is the guitar that I use more

  • You should try the Line6 Clean amp model for that and use the middle pick-up position.

  • hey :D

is that preset included in your pod x3 patch folder? :) whats his number.. f.e.: 7C.

you have more than one jimi presets :D

  • Yes I have several Hendrix presets in my bundle. I think it's called Hendrix Clean.

  • pa mi es mejor la boss gt-10 es mas metallera

jajaja saludos buena la pod xt-3 si

  • I see that you connect through an audio interface but I'm wondering since the POD X3 live has a USB connector can't you just connect straight to your computer with the onboard USB? My thinking is that by running that 1/4 inch line from your POD to the audio interface you are guaranteed to introduce a small amount of noise into the signal. IF you can connect straight from the onboard USB that extra noise (however slight) would be eliminated.

  • that is true but unfortunately the X3-Live suffers from a USB dropout issue so It's easier for me to record this way. Actually your ears can't tell the difference once the guitar parts are in the mix of a song.

  • Comment removed

  • only on the X3-Live, The X3 bean does not have the USB dropout issue.

  • I was just looking and could only find complaints regarding the live version. If you're not aware I read that they say it's a hardware issue and you can take it to a service center to have it fixed free of charge. At least it's fixable if you care to bother with it...which I suspect you don't.

  • yeah, I was offered the hardware fix about a year ago when they first started doing them. At that time i was using my X3-Live all the time and could not be without my rig for 3-4 weeks. Hopefully all new POD's now come with the hardware fix but I wouldn't be sure since the market is already flooded with units that have the issue.

  • heay how do you make it to your guitar i take a cable from my amp guitar in to the guitar in on the x3 than i take a cable from my guitar to the left over the paddle ...how do you connect it?

  • If you are asking how I record my guitar sound, I use a computer audio interface.

  • What if i use a roland cube 30? Will it sound the same as youre using it?

  • can't really say cos' I don't have one of those.

  • Awesome, great job bro.

How long did it take you to make that patch

  • 3 minutes 4 sec.

  • how's the big muff stomp on this? any one know?

    and also the peavey 6505?

  • man i need help i got this pedal and i cant make sound :( please help me

  • You should go over to the Line6 X3 forums and post your question there. They will be able to help you.

  • try reading the little book that comes with it :P

  • omg at 0:31

  • yesterday this dude offered me an exact type of guitar ,but it was blue.... for 4 hundred dolars.... :'(i missed out the bargain!!!damnnnnnnnnnNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • what kind of audio interface do you use? or recommend, I am picking up this Line6 soon, and need an audio interface from my m-audio BX5a montiors.....also would need one for my electronic drums

  • Sounds Hendrix-y to me. "The wind cries Mary," one of my favorite songs btw. While you were setting up the patches and testing near the end, it also had a "Little Wing" sound to it. Very clean, nice tone.

  • i usually dont like strats, but yours is amazing!

  • I have the same strat but in red! I love it and I'll keep all long of my life! sorry for my bad english :s

  • Saying it doesn't sound like Hendrix at all is pretty absurd, but Diomenesx is dead on that's it's missing a little bit of fuzz. Sounds pretty good, though.

  • It looks too flimsy for live playing. I also agree that it doesn't sound like Hendrix, and you don't have the licks quite right, which doesn't help.

  • have never scean equipment built to take road abuse all alone you put it in a road case with the backup one and carry them both with guitar or bass under your arm do that with your full stack

  • Needz fuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • btw dont listen to what people say, i rekon it sounds like jimi hendrix..

  • does not sound like hendrix at all, but it's still cool.

  • Im confused. Whats the difference between the PODX3 Live and the PODX3? Do you need them both?

  • The X3 is just the electronics inside of a little red box. The X3-Live is the X3 electronics inside of a pedal board. You don't need both.

  • what did you use to feed it through the computer?

  • 2 1/4in. cables

  • ahk so just a normal lead right?, umm so what about having them go in through different channels? i have just a simple mixer not very fancy and a normal sound card on my computer.. what about this?
