@1LastAmericanPatriot The GOP have not been small government for years. Reagan expanded government. So did H.W Bush. So did his son. W. Bush. The GOP are responsible for 3/4 of the national debt. W. Bush DOUBLED the national debt, from $5 trillion to $12 trillion in eight years, more than ANY other President, and much of that due to the military-industrial-complex. You know, what Ike, a Republican (and one of my favorite Presidents) warned us against. I DO admire some Republicans.

They are probably the worst presidents of all time (with the exception of Obama). I know what socialism is and it makes me sick. All of FDRs socialist New Deal programs are bankrupting our country and have caused dependency on the government. Public schools are a joke. The closest would be Ron Paul, and he is more so a conservative libertarian that still takes (constitutional) earmarks for his district. Otherwise, most Republicans are big spenders, which is why something like 70% of the U.S. debt came under GOP presidential administrations.
Where did a lot of this money go? To military spending, and tax cuts for the upper earners (like the $1.2 trillion tax cut).

Once socialism is in place it is nearly impossible to remove. Im sure FDR meant well, I dont think he was evil or anything, he just didnt know he would create a hemorrhage of tax dollars and put us into a downward spiral of debt that cannot be paid for. Obama is making the same mistake.

This dependency didn't happen because of socialism. It happened because capitalism has failed in some avenues. Even Adam Smith, the supposed father of capitalism, believed in some social programs. Even Republicans like Nixon, who was born poor, did was well.

Socialism is too costly, in money and independence. It has proven disastrous in every example in the world. I'd rather have a strong military and personal Independence than have a weak military and dependacy on government.
