I remembered this episode from when I was like 5. Then I watched speed....and I got the "If the ratings go below 50, I'll blow up the studio". I was like, "OH!!!".

I liked Muppets tonight but it wasnt nearly as good as the old Muppet show.

The comedy was a bit more watered down.

The writers said what happened was they never got a chance to find their footing.

By the time they thought they figured it out the show was cancelled.

We just watched "The Proposal" for the second time tonight and I happened to mention to my mom "Did you know that she [Sandra Bullock] was on 'Muppets Tonight'? Mom was like "Seriously?" I'll have to show this episode to my mom. She'll love it.

I remember they decided not to air this one because it was the anniversary of the Oklahoma city bombing and they ran an old Bosom Buddies ep instead. This aired the next week i think, I thought they were going to ban it but they didn't.

Notice that when Clifford starts singing the theme song, he walks past none other than Sesame Street Game Show Host Guy Smiley. Which is odd because when Disney licensed the rights from JHC, the agreement was the Sesame Street characters would not be included.

The problem with this version was that it didn't look live. The original muppet show looked live and real while this version, while still good, looked acted out.

OMG What the hell happened to this show, I loved it, T.V. has never been the same like in the past, I remember watching this every saturdays and loving the Shows' song at the beginning, I so want this to come back to T.V. every thing nowadays is boring.

This was first aired in 1997 and it was the first show I recorded. I particularly remember this episode because of the phone sequence at the beginning. At the time I thought the show was genius, but has started to wear off on me and I don't find the jokes as funny as they were then.

Actually, I didn't hear that one. I have heard about that before (too many times to ignore it for that matter) so I tried to listen. I don't know. Maybe there's something wrong with the audio on my computer. That's kind of disappointing.

He might have at some point, which would explain why we haven't seen them in any other projects after this show was cancelled.

In the first episode he promised Miss Piggy he'd give them a job on the show. But he only needed Miss Piggy to be his guest star for one episode, so maybe he could have fired them after that show. Anyway, he couldn't fire them because their parts were some of the funniest in te show. My favourites, apart from this, are when they're in the John Goodman episode, and when they're on the "Eagle's Nest".
