Same riff from Madonna's "Dress you up in my love", killer tune. I like to break dance and rap over house music, man if I could find Chicago house/ hard house mixes of these Breakfast club tracks that would be dope
He has the CBGB's shirt, one of the club places where artist like madonna started & other great singers found their own style!! Great tune from a great an amazing group!!!
great song and great memories! 25 yers are passed by! i used to listen to this song when i was 15 and i was engaged with my girl friend who has became my wife
Great song and video. I like watching videos that goes along with the meaning of the song. I found my self chuckling a couple of times as I watched this video. You do not hear or see videos like this anymore. Back then every group had their own style of music; so it was hard to pick a favorite. Now in day everything sounds the same because everyone is copying from each other. I do not see my self in 10 or 20 years looking back for todays music like I do with the 70's, 80's and 90's.
Nice band, nice music. Madonna was a member before her break-through > I can hear the influence and sound of this band in her music from the eighties. Does anyone agree with me?
The video version of the song is not the same as the album version. This version has more 'punch', I wish they included this mix on the 1987 studio album....
do you remember ? rolón , recuerdos al maximo de un amigo que era d.j. en el nesbitt en puebla, mexico (jorge Galan) SALUDOS en donde estes , juntos con turn back the clock de johnny hates jazz me traen mucha melancolía la vida never will be the same
Oh man! The Breakfast Club is way overdue for a reunion concert! If anyone knows anything please let me know. This band deserves a lot more recognition.
Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958) is an American recording artist, actress and entrepreneur. Born in Bay City, Michigan and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City for a career in modern dance. After performing as member of the pop musical groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she released her self-titled debut album in 1983, and then produced three consecutive number-one studio albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s and four more since year 2000.
i really love this song...it reminds me all my best days! i thought i was the one 2 know them! i think they only made that album...but it's still one of my fave ones!lu79
love these guys! love this song too! The only song i loved back in the 80s from these guys was "Right on track" i was too obbsessed with michael jackson back then lol
Although this song was not a big hit here in Australia, it certainly was one that has kept in my mind all these years. It was played regularly on my local radio station in Newcastle. It was a remix of the original song that appeared on their album, which I bought lol. It reminds me of my last days in year 10 in 1987 and the summer of 1988 at the beach. I had never seen the video until now thanx for posting,,,Cheers. I wonder what happened to them???
most under rated 80's pop song of the decade.....shed pettibone's mix of this song was also very good.....this guy cud sing!!....i miss them days, todays music is garbage!!
I remember something about she being or wanting to be the drummer for them... I guess that's why Madona's first two albums had a similat beat on some of the songs ("Into the Gove, etc). Those were the days lol!
the 80's everything has never been the same.... I discovered this song a few years ago, some 20 odd years since it was released. Like most I heard "right on track" back when it was released, what? 1984, 1985, 1968?
what can i say about this song? just another great track from the MIGHTY 80S!! such clean producing on this track. melancholy lyrics with a dance beat. the 80s had tons of these types of songs. a la Pet Shop Boys.
In Australia this single was a modest hit barely making the chart following the success of their debut single"Right On Track" which was a hugh top 10 hit here in 1987. I bought their album and still have it to this day. I had never seen this video until now. I think they deserved greater success, maybe they should have asked Madonna to come back and join the group?? ...but i think at that stage she was just lovin' the solo artist life. :)
I have been DYING to see the video for this song - this is my favorite song off their debut album - I prefer the album cut but this is still great. They were brilliant - flashback: they were nominated for best new artist along with one of my all-time fave artists, Swing out Sister. :o)
Correction : The Breakfast Club were an established band before Madonna came along, Steven Bray was her boyfriend & she gate crashed the band & took over like she usually did, wanting 2 b th lead singer when they already had 1. They were NOT Madonnas band !
Madonna suggested Steven Bray 2 b th new drummer 4 The Breakfast Club after she had left th band. She was in a much earlier version on drums & th lead singer even let her sing SOME vocals. It was NOT her band, she was part of it.
Oh also, it occurred to me the irony... the video shows them watching an old film remenicing about their youth and now 20 years later I am watching it and doing the same.
I used to really like this song and group in the late 80s... I had the album on cassette which I'd ordered from the Columbia House record and tape club. Anyone remember that? So glad somebody had a copy of this video. An 80s group that time forgot.
Same riff from Madonna's "Dress you up in my love", killer tune. I like to break dance and rap over house music, man if I could find Chicago house/ hard house mixes of these Breakfast club tracks that would be dope

So weird that the lead singer went on to marry Renee Russo and write a screenplay for the Bourne Identity movies...

@swelstead Renee Russo is married to a different Dan Gilroy, NOT the former Breakfast Club's lead singer.
