  • Wow, I'm soooo glad I found this video! I'm exactly the same as you - not really into clubbing and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, so I'm really quite nervous about the Freshers week events. I start on the 2nd October, and I feel a lot better after watching your video.

I'm still a bit nervous about going up and talking to people or joining a group of people who already look like they're friends, but I've always been a bit like that. I'm just hoping it will come naturally!

    Thank you!!

  • I am starting uni on the 24th and I am in the exact same boat you were in with no expierence of clubbing and i do not like getting really drunk (just a few for me :D) so thanks for sharing your freshers week expierence because I feel much better about it now :D

  • Thanks again, great advice.

So far ive moved in, and talked to everyone on my floor, and a few more in the pub, and what's good is that there are about 2 people on my course on my floor.

Pretty much i have learnt that the kitchen is prime conversation territory.

And i plan on going to the freshers ball, but not clubbing.

And i might pop home as from the sounds of it most people around are leaving for a week for the courses to start, which for me is on the 22nd. But havent made my mind up

  • @rorrt Sounds like it's going brilliantly, I'm so pleased :D The kitchen was where everyone hung out at my Halls too, really social environment :D If you have the opportunity to stay on campus and get to know people better then I definitely recommend that, you could pop home just for a few days? Anyways I'm really glad you found my advice good and I'm pleased you're meeting loads of people (:

  • you might get progressively bigger as you film, am i right lads??

  • fat.

  • Loving your advice videos, thankyou sooooo much for doing them :D

Did you find out who you were sharing rooms with before you went to uni?xxxxxx

  • @harrietgib You're welcome, I'm glad you like them :D I had a single room at uni but my Halls had a Facebook group for everyone to chat in before we moved in, and as everyone put their room number down I knew a few of the people I was living near beforehand! It was brilliant that way because it wasn't like meeting strangers (:

  • gosh you just got more and more stunning in every video :p xx

  • @tylerolo Oh TYLER you really are too kind! And blind :P xx

  • I am really nervous about freshers week but this video has made me feel a lot more relaxed about it :D I haven't went clubbing before and the only time I got drunk was in June with people I know. I am really a shy person and I was worried about being alone in a nightclub and stuff like that and hearing advice from you has helped me to know what to do in those kind of situations :D

  • @bluemonster666 There's really nothing to worry about, clubbing is a daunting prospect but you will definitely have a laugh! Don't worry about being alone, just remember that everyone loves to make new friends, you'll definitely be absolutely fine (:

  • Don't forget to give the rich students a ton of abuse whilst you still can! :D

  • what do you wear to clubs or uni nights stuff? I literally own nothing but casual stuff :o

  • @Twilight19922008 To be honest you can get away with casual, for example skinny jeans and a really nice top! But I tend to wear a dress or a bandeau skirt with a batwing top. I always wear flats because I just can't handle heels, the few times I've worn heels clubbing I've only kept them on for 5 minutes!

  • This definitely reminded me of my first year of uni (well, college as I would say).... luckily, I'm finally at that age where I really don't care what others think, I just wish I'd be more like this when I was in college! That's my biggest advice for younger folks, just relax and be yourself

  • @TheSarinator Yeah I think that is the key, I always feel more confident when I know I'm sticking to my guns and being myself. Thankyou (:

  • so nice to know that I won't be the first person who even after a year of being able to drink legally hadn't been clubbing :)

in your money video will be discussing buying food? Because I have no idea how much to spend each week on it.

  • @TheSalmonShoes Yeah I will be going through food briefly, but what I would say is that how much you spend on it should be subjective to how much money you have got, then divide it between weeks and see how much you can allocate for food (:

  • again, I LOVE YOU FOR THIS. i was like OH GOD MUM I'M GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST LOSER I DON'T WANT TO DRINK WAAAH. just, this. a million times. i linked these to some of my friends and they just think you're great! <3

  • @Amycakes1 Thankyou for linking it to your friends! And honestly, do not worry about the alcohol thing, I know that in the past people can really give you crap for not drinking but you get a lot more respect for it at uni because people have matured, a lot of people will be impressed if you aren't a big drinker! If you or your friends have anything else you'd like to know just let me know, more than happy to make videos on any uni-related topics (: x

  • Agreed about the alcohol thing! I was the same Jocy, worried about Freshers' Week because I've never been into that 'scene'. I went to a couple of things and still had a good time, didn't drink because I'm not a big drinker. I think if people are worried about people taking the mick out of them not drinking my advice would be not to act concerned about it - I just kept saying I'm not a big drinker and people got over it. Great vlog Jocy :) x

  • @amzyydoodles Exactly, people don't make a big deal out of it if you don't make a big deal out of it! Thanks Amy, looking forward to seeing you this week for a catch up :D x
