Good job! If you still have the original 1st gen engine then you can get a useful increase in power by replacing the 2nd gen exhaust cam with the 1st gen inlet cam. You might have to mess around with carb jetting however.
@mikerjuk I have a set of those sitting here in the garage just waiting for me to do exactly that. I also got an invite to tune it on a dyno, hehe! :)
@mikerjuk I reverted the 2nd gen engine back to 1st gen carbs and ignition system. I also disabled the system that allows air to be introduced to the exhaust for emissions control, as the 1st gen didn't have that either.
For how long the engine smoked when you blip the trottle? I have an sv650 that stayed 1 hr and 30 minutes on it's left side tipped over and it was smoking when I was blipping the throttle... Even tho I will wait the spring to burn the rest of the oil, now is winter and the motorcycle is in the garage.
@GoodKat22 I had a bit more of a problem, that is a second generation engine converted to a first generation. The emissions control system blockoff that I put in leaked oil into the exhaist vavles, shortly after this video I drilled and tapped it and screwed bolt plugs in there instead. Otherwise most of the smoke stopped right away, then the rest burned off in a about 10-15 minutes of riding.
@vvtheduckvv Thanks for the fast answer. Mine is spitting a liiiitle bit of smoke (the engine has 19.000 kilometers) so it's almost brand new. I found oil in the airbox, so prolly that's why mine was smoking.
@bonzo9303204406 I have only once, and it was a moped that we deliberately put tranny fluid in his air filter box on purpose as a prank on a friend. LOL! That thing smoked for days! I wish I got footage of the smoke going down to the end of my street and up and over the church at the end of the street.
@vvtheduckvv i have too ... but from a truck .. it wasn't broken ... it was russian truck :D named KAMAZ .... and that truck when it works in a place without moving, cant burn the oil that lubricate the engine .. and its storing in the exhaust pot and pipes .... and when you go ... its smokes for hours xD but it smells sweet :D
Tell you what you do in a situation liek this take about a quart or half a quart of 100LL avgas and run it it will blow everything carb cylinder was and such clean in liek 5 minuts

Are you running on carbs from the original 01 engine, or have you got the entire fuel injection system fitted?
