  • I have a few questions:

is the browser free to use or do you have to pay per minute like on regular Verison phones?

Is there any other thing on there that has secret fees, besides the phone itself

just wondering since i don't have a touch system, except the DSi, which is free for the browser and there aren't any fees except buying games on the shop.

Oh yeah, how many apps are there?

  • @kylebuflod 30$ data fee per month, which allows to browse the web.. There aren't any secret fees really, but you can ask the people at the verizon store what of fees you might encounter.. and there are 10,000 plus apps on the market..

  • ok ty :)

  • yes unlimited data plan 30month

over 20,000 apps most of them are free

  • about multi touch (pinch to zoom):

    Why does anyone care?!?!?

anyway, this phone is capable of using multi touch, but from what i understand there are legal issues with apple patening it. That's why the europe version (the motorola milestone) is allowed to use it, as well as third party apps from the android store, but motorola itself can't use it. But once again who cares?!?!

  • Umm if apple is trying to copyright it, then my laptop is gonna have a recall, its got multi touch, pinch shrinking, rotating, all that stuff

  • that phone is sweet!!:D

  • the guy whos doing this vid looks like a asian count Dracula

  • lmao he has pete wentz as a contact lmao id laugh if it was the actual pete wentz from fob

  • He states that there is no tap zoom in the web brower.

I had watched a C Net review, and i watched her use the tap zoom.

? what is going on here.

  • does this have a radio

  • Comment removed

  • WRONG......on the browser, u can double tap now to zoom in.....!

  • it says in subtext that you can double tap

  • The hero is going to get android 2.0

  • Wow lets just promote using ur phone while driving.......

  • or you can do your homework and listen a bit more when he mentions the "Docking station"

  • ClosestToTheSun thats the $ per line

  • Verizon is copying off of t-mobile and at&t

  • Its not Verizon Copying Its Motorola Selling to the best Buyer T-Mobile And ATT&T Suck ass

  • The wi-fi is in almost all of the Droid reviews and there is an app or widget that alloows you to turn it on or off easier. You can also use wifi while on a call

  • can anybody tell me if this thing has threaded sms messagins????

  • @neroroxxx yes it has threaded sms messaging

  • great thanks alot!!!

  • If I'm paying 30$ a month for internet from VZW, does that cover my entire plan, or just one phone?

  • @ClosestToTheSun one phone. I have a BlackBerry Storm and I have the 30 $ plan. It only covers the phone that you choose to have it.

  • Can you move you widgets where you want to move them on the screen?

  • Yes, you can move the widgets to any location on the home screens. The widgets have a "snap to grid" function so they will be aligned in a grid, but you can place them anywhere within the screen.

  • Hero phone all the way!!!!!!!

  • you know i really like this but yo pay 30 dollarsa a month and is that for internet? and if so is that unlimited internet or is it a mega byte type system

  • its unlimited

  • they shouldve got more creative with wallpaper.

  • You can change the display theme.

  • theres is multi touch. he just didnt click it twice on the screen when he was on the browser

  • Double tap, yes, but not multitouch as in the pinch and zoom.

  • There IS multitouch, both on the droid and in android 2.0, but it is not supported in the apps that come with the phone. However, third party apps can. Also, open source apps (like the browser) could be replaced or have multitouch added.

  • all thanks to apples patented technology

  • @jj4life24 your stupid.

  • can u connect to a wifi area so you dont need to pay for internet??? pleze reply! thnk you!

  • yes i believe so. you have to buy a wireless plan though for verizon

  • as in you have to buy the data plan for VZW

  • The Droid does have Wi-Fi

  • who told you this shit ?

  • YESSS! it plays youtube. you should play youtube videos on this phone like try to go to the PC version of youtube and play videos that way.

  • the day when machines like this become obsolete is the day when humanity will drain itself of ingenuity.

Droid or iPhone it wont matter to any of us, when we become the machines we build, we will only compete as to who is more superior.

    Me or You.

  • It's SOOOO UGLY!!!!

  • Hell no it fuck1ng SEXY....!!!

  • this phone is pretty straight but im still satisfied with my htc touch pro 2

  • Amen

  • I LOVE that ringtone...

  • why should I care about maps? I know where I'm going...

  • lol please no body deal with this shit! get the htc hero by android on sprint, much cheaper just as good and comes with sprint navigation and sprint tv!!

  • If the iPhone had come out 10 years ago, it would be that piece of shit phone. Verizon, just get the damn iPhone!

  • haha, "Subtitle text here"

    at 7:42

  • pk here is my opinion in the iphone. it sucks as a phone. it has a short barttery life horrible speaker and coutnless other flaws.but it is an amazing mobile computer. im not sure how droid compares to the iphone but dont diss either phone. each phone has things that the other doesnt so i think they are both great ohones

  • It's not ugly.. It's so pwetty.

  • @joshlea623 Except this is on a way better service provider.

  • @trijoy726 Embarrassed to have a phone that can do more than anything out there thus far? Take your aesthetically pleasing iPhone. Google, in less than a year, has already overcome Apple's Jesus phone hype with Android. Deal with it. :)

  • @jdulog to be honest, theyre both very competitive with each other. the iphone has its strong points, but the droid has its strong points as well. its too close to call.

  • go fuck yourself, pompous ass!

  • Yeah, real innovative...

It doesn't look like anything that's already been done...

Oh wait... an iPhone knock off...

    How about some creativity people....

  • Much better than an iPhone...

  • the only way that it looks simialir is that it has a touch screen...

  • lockerz(dot)com is a site where you can gather ptz points by answering ,playing or simply logging in to your free account ,with these points you can redeem some valuable prizes(like ipods,ps3,xbox360,macbook,etc...PM me in youtube if you are interested and i will instantly send you an invetation..you cant join unless you are invited from a member

  • pre ordered from best buy, cant wait for friday

  • @matt94lol you and me both. <3

  • hi. i have a enV2 plan for bout a year now. will verizon still alow the $200 2yr contract or will they charge me more because im not eligable for a upgrade? thank you

  • MrFantasticPanda

you can decide to extend your agreement for another 2 years to get the 200 dollar price

but if you simply just buy the phone and continue your plan you pay 300 just for the unit and transfering service to the phone.

  • How much is the enternet and is it worth it?

  • The Internet is $30 per month. The worth is dependent upon your needs and use. To get a smartphone on Verizon, I do believe that the carrier requires you to add the data plan. The Internet helps to make the "Google" experience with email, internet surfing, purchases via Android Market, and the maps app among other things. You can achieve that with WiFi as well, but won't have as ubiquitous of an experience.

  • cool but still want the blackberry storm 2

  • great video. After being exposed to the iPhone and seeing this demo there's no way this phone comes close the iPhone. It has a few nice things over the iPhone such as the way it integrates searches with turn-by-turn navigation but that's about it. Perhaps the options to comunicate with contacts once you click on their card might be superior too...

  • and a physical keyboard, that one's huge for a lot of people. the typing on iphones is fairly obnoxious.

  • from the looks of the software, i would love this phone. I also like the hardware such as the 5mp camera ect. but I'm not liking the design so much...its kind of ugly in my opinion. =( and looks are quite important in a phone for me. *sigh*

  • true. Thats why i got the hero =D

  • i went to like a verizon wireless website

and it was all about droids. and there was a countdown

go to google and type in verizon droid

    it shud come up

  • how is the touch screen feel. in comparison to the iphone?

  • Any idea when this will be out for Verizon. I dont see anything online.

  • It should be available on November 6.

  • cool thx

  • CAN I BUY IT IIN CANADA!

  • I am not sure about Canada. I haven't heard of any news for Canada. I know there is a GSM version for O2 Germany, I believe, that is going by the name of the Motorola Milestone. VZW has a US exclusive on this phone it seems.

  • Thanks because i REALLY REALLY want this =)

anddd can i buy a SideKick Lx 2009 in Canada?

  • Whoa, you live close by! O:

  • yo that phone is sickkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Is there an additional charge for the Verizon Visual VM?

  • Yes, it's an additional $3/mo subscription.

  • is there a data plan for this phone?? and if so how much....

  • Yes, there is a data plan, and I believe it is $30/month.

  • there's an app for iphone called "google" that allows you to speak and find a location, let alone anything on google. verizon service is good but verizon phones suck, at&t service sucks but at&t phones kick ass. what i'm trying to say is that the iphone is THEE phone. droid, storm, etc.. they all suck.

  • can u change the background on the home screen??

  • Yes, you can change the wallpaper. There is an app called Gallery, which will display all your pictures. From there, you can choose "Set As" and adjust your wallpapers.

  • still not enough for me to give up my iphone

  • i really need some throbbin gherkin right now

  • it's basically like the black berry storm, the G1 from t-mobile, and the iPhone... It is still kool but what is sooooo unique???(not much) i am intruged by other stuff from verizon but otherwise the droid..... MEH.....

  • Compare it with the touch pro 2 for verizon.

  • The QWERTY keyboard feels flat and the dialpad control is restricted to the home screen. Music and video capabilities still trail behind the competition. Dual-mode functionality for world-roaming capabilities would have been a nice addition.

  • 2 POINT 0

  • Since I have Sprint, I am getting the Samsung Moment, but Android, is so advanced! iPhone cant compare!

  • "Starbucks"

    *Ba bing*

    Results.

    Android = Future

  • its good all phones are incorporating syncing with like facebook and other social networking services, thats why i like my blackberry.

  • PLEASE make a video of MUSIC PLAYER, VIDEO PLAYER, 3D GAMES!!!

    thanks!!!

  • I want it!! But im barely going through my first year with my 2 Year Contract

  • hey bye

  • i know it has nothing to do with the droid but i can help lindavanessa576

  • wtf...lol what does that have to do with droid?

  • After he gets laid he can take nude pix with the droid in the dark.

  • chuongvision, can you make a video of the music player, video player, 3D games. Thanks.

  • I will have that phone on friday!

  • piep wer hat mich lieb , bin einsam heute

  • no, you dont have to be on a smart plan. verizon does not carry smart plans. can have it on any plan u choose, but pay the 29.99 data feature on it

  • okay thanks.

  • Do you have to switch to a smartphone plan to use this phone?

  • I believe so.

  • yes

mostly all pdas require data plans

  • Hm okay. Which means you have to pay the additional $30 monthly fee?

  • but the slide out keyboard could be used for easier web browsing.....

  • Yes, you can use the slide out keyboard for web browsing and for any input field that requires you enter any symbols or alpha-numeric characters.

  • can you text on the droid?

  • i don't kno if you watched the video but it has a slide-out keyboard so that should pretty much answer your question

  • no offense but ur a retard.

  • Yes, you can text.

  • AWESOME phone!!

but is the verizon visual voicemail free? i thought you had to pay for that

  • You are correct, unlike Sprint's Visual Voicemail (which is included in the Sprint Moment and Sprint HTC Hero), Verizon Wireless charges a monthly subscription fee of $3.

  • I recommend using Google Voice for Visual Voicemail on the Droid thru the voicemail forwarding workaround.

  • great ill keep that in mind when i get mine next fri. thanks!

    5 *

  • if you can't save applications on sd card, then how big of the memory does this phone have?

  • 512 ROM

  • "actual spoken voice instructions are loud, though sound robotic"

Well, that's why it's called the Droid!

  • I still have only found one picture from the Droid, and it looks downright HORRIBLE. The PC World review also says that the camera is garbage.

Can you confirm / deny this? I was really hoping it would at least be as good as the iPhone 3GS, especially since it sounds better on paper.... then again we all know how much that means for cameras :(

  • my pics and comparison photos are on picasa:

    picasaweb (dot) google (dot) com/chuongvision

  • how's the battery life? im interested to know the mAh on it and the duration. im considering gettin either this or wait for the omnia 2 cuz that has like a 4 or 5 day life per charge, pretty beast 1500mAh and amoled display =]

  • The device has a 1400 mAh battery and is rated for 6.4 hours of talk or 11.25 days of standby. With moderate to heavy use of the device (push and pull email accounts, GPS, web browsing, Twitter, YouTube, etc), I made it through the day. The battery life seems better than the Sprint HTC Hero.

  • how is the vibration on the phone? I usually keep it on vibrate

  • Vibration is really strong

  • Great review! I can't wait for this phone.

  • Show us how well the camera / flash works!!!

  • Will do. Video of that to come.

  • Awesome, you don't even need video though -- you can just put them on something like Flickr or a free hosting site and toss the links in the sidebar =P

  • Good thought. Thanks. Still trying to figure out the most efficient way to do it.

  • can you save applications on SD card?

  • You can't save apps to the micro SD card. This has been confirmed also by a friend, Mr. High Definition on (Twitter: iammrhd)

  • hey chuong..how is the camera and software compared to the iphone 3gs

  • I'll see if I can do some comparisons tomorrow and this weekend

  • android is gonna kill the iphone!!

  • Great Video! By the way, with your facial features and looks you should apply for a role as a vampire in a movie/show!

  • good presentation of the apps and how the Phone works.
