Just got this camera today, and I must say: the stabilizer is absolutely amazing. I can follow a bird in flight with a 20x zoom and it will be smooth as silk, and the picture quality is superb. I love this camera, and I'm so glad i researched my way to this model.

As far as that test went the mic only seemed to zoom to about 5X, which was inferior to the optical 12X zoom.What did you render, edit and export in?

From your footage, there are some things I would like you to clarify. At time 7 : 38 your cam experiences some kind of EMI jolt when testing the microphone wide surround, What on earth caused that?!!! How often does that happen? Your tele macro test doesn't help because you don't zoom out for us to see how far you are shooting from. I would have liked to know what is the farthest you can go and still get a crystal clear macro?

I appreciate your effort to review this camcorder. I have set my eyes on its HDD version but there are 3 things people owning it have had to complain about.

The fan noise being picked up by the mic in quiet places, the battery time running out fast and the rip off price of buying another one and the poor low light footage it takes.

I have compared its footage to the Sony HDR-CX700V and this panasonic blows it away in well lit places.

I have a panasonic camera in the hdc-sd series, and I am wondering, does digital cinema mode show an increase in the vibrance of colours, yet a decrease in video quality?

I have a huge problem,I own the HDC SD9 and when I stick my SD card in my mac, it does not show any video files in the SD card, Can someone tell me why this happens?

@TF1411 You will find your files in one of the folders, as MTS-files. I didn't know this when I bought it, but these files are very bad for mac-users, since no popular editing programs support these files. This came as a huge shock to me, that mac users are left out in the cold. Luckily I also got windows on my iMac, and I found a converter that can make convert the MTS files into most other know formats, called "iSkysoft video software". The quality gets much worse though :(

Do colour night shot give same effect as the Candlelight Mode? Btw, if the Colour Night Shot Mode is ON...can i still adjust the IRIS N FOCUS?? to make is brighter n focus?especially during a dark night

@Bryan91U I dont know Candlelight mode. You cannot adjust WB, Shutter (probably fixed 1/25s), Iris and some other things, but you can focus.

How is the low light performance on the SD900?

@swanty32e I have an sd700 and the low light isn't great. I am talking serious low light though, in lamp light for example its fine. Ill put a low light vid of the sd700 up soon and you can see for yourself. Only saying this because panasonic claim the 900 model has around 33% better low light performance which i assume is a very good boost.

Does the manual focus ring work properly? I guess that's the only feature I would miss on the cheaper SD800.

To say the truth - it is a pain to focus on the display. You never know if it really is in focus or not. You would have to connect big external display :-) It is definitely not a pro camera.

But better than nothing... I don't use it very much.

@thekillcam26 Yes, absolutely. It has great picture, ergonomy is not as a pro camera, but it is just a consumer one. I am very satisfied with it, but I dont have experience with other brand top models.

Wide lens is the main advantage against Canon, for example.
