@aiarchon I used a generic brand of epoxy. I am pretty sure any brand will do. The key is to make sure your surfaces are clean.

Does anyone know if wearing el wired clothing/helmet at night is illegal in any states? Also, is the rider distracted by the light while wearing this helmet? Does it affect night vision?

@351cleavland I have been told that some colors are illegal to use. Red, blue are likely two that the police might give you a hard time for.

Where did you find an all black helmet with no logo?

@aznpimpin89 The helmet was made by HJC. It had logo stickers on it that I carefully peeled off a long time ago. Since designs on helmets are harder to see in the dark, I would image that using a helmet with a design would help to "hide" the EL wire in daylight.

you should make it to were it can flash on one side so when you take turns it also flashes like say when you take a right the right side of the helmet will flash and what not.... you would get a lot of money if you could figure some way to make it work

i found the wire on ebay but how my question is this: where do you put the control box when you ride and how do you control it? say when its off and you are casually riding and you want to suddenly activate it how is your setup that allows to be used in this way? also can it be cut along the wire like if i do the same to my helmet or sides of my motorcycle and i want a certain length only what do i do then?

it could easily be turned into a guy-man encore helmet by taking the "loop" at the top and replacing it with a horizontal bar i little ways back. then make the EL wire red

Very nice man. I just picked up a matt black helmet on ebay and am trying to do one with both el tape and 5MM wire white. You have very clean lines and I'm gonna strive to get it looking perfect (but different of course).

That helmet is pimp! What size wire did you get at the length of 5 ft? I gotta rock it out on my motorcycle helmet. I'll probably end up using velcro to mount the switch to the back of the helmet .

Blue wouldn't be street legal where I'm from...the cops would have a fucking fit if it were Blue, Red or White cops would take issue because that covers the 3 categories that are known to be "Siren Colors"...

I used epoxy to attach the EL Wire.

The power supply is the AA battery pack that came with the kit.

Google "EL Wire kit" and look for a kit with about 5 feet of wire and you will see the size of the PS. You might be able to see it on the table if you look closely.
