Nissan already built a superior "eco-friendly" car.
Nissan just announced yesterday that the Nissan Leaf will get an "equivalent" of 367 mpg, and it will probably be around $25,000.
The Volt is an outrageous $45,000, and that price completely turns off the consumers who are interested in economical cars.
