This set tutorial was so nice to follow, I enjoyed it more than many others that I had tried to get some learning from. Thanks so much for sharing them for free.
I was able to create a spry menu in one page, but when I went through the steps to cut the style out on the page and create a new css my code looked different and I couldn't get it to work. The links were left on the original page. Is there a way to create a css menu that is set up where all the links and buttons are in the css and I can add buttons on one page and it adds them on all pages. If you know of or have any tutorials explaining this please let me know.
@morabitom77 I hope I am understanding you correctly. Take a look in those pages to see if you have a script or link reference to a SPRY menu. IF you want to remove them you must remove your reference on those pages. Essentially the chain was broken, and or remnants are still there. Yes, you can make changes to one link page and all of your pages will use that change. You can do this by using PHP includes. I will work on a tutorial soon.
@MicheleLee777 all I am trying to do is create a Spry menu (which i was able to do thanks to your tutorial) but I want to put that same menu on all my pages. Is this the right tutorial for that?
Hi michele, im new to your tutorials but at first glance you appear to be knowledgeable. in building my simple site i am using spry, not sure how i got to this point but i deleted a spry menu item, which is now gone from the spry menu in cs3 but wont go away in some pages where the menu exists.
@sandpointtv Take a look in those pages to see if you have a script or link reference to a SPRY menu in those pages. IF you want to remove them you must remove your reference on those pages. IF you wanted to keep the SPRY you would want to see where the chain was broken in your page(s) Feel free to contact me if you would like me to take a look to see if I can locate the issue for you. Best wishes to you and your site design adventure
Hi, having watched around 30 hours of dreamweaver tutorials in the last few days I feel yours videos helped me more in the last hour than all the rest put togerther and answered many ? I had and just made it so easy to follow, I would like to thank you for all taking the time to pass it on.
You did an awesome tutorial and very helpful and explanation of the tutorial was very good, I am taking a 2 year web design coarse and this tutorial really helped out so Thank you very much!
nicely done! I have a question though- I have several clients that I need to differentiate the css files used for each of my clients. How can I check to see which css file directories corresponds to which clients?
Secondly, can I link the corresponding drop down buttons to different contents to appear in the one "main content" area in your tutorial?
Hi DaFlasher. Thank you very much for letting me know you found the tutorial helpful. I enjoy being able to help others, and when someone takes the time to comment and say thanks it puts a smile on my face. Thanks, and I wish you the best of luck with your web design project.
oh thank you for replying, i gave my website to my peers and to my teacher to look at it, and she really likes it. I just have to fix up the spry menu and maybe add some banners and text to it.
Again i thank you so very much, and i will check out your other vids aswell.
Hi Serg I gather you would like your flash video to use the CSS style? You can do this by adding new style rules for specific elements that surround your flash video. If you have made the video you can use your editing software to set the style you prefer, and ask it to also export out a HTML file so that you can see exactly what I mean. You can upload that css file along with your main css file to server. I sure wish I could give a more in depth answer here, but room is limited.
Very comprehensive tutorial. I learned a lot o this. Hope you can also have some tutorial on making spy menus with an image background. Thank you Michelle...
so now after creating new page and attaching to it the same css file..in case we want to make particular edits for one webpage of those following the same css file... how do we do that?
If you want to use this same CSS file for another website - page but do not want the edits to effect your first site simply duplicate your CSS code and make a new CSS file and name it something else. Example first one style.css the next one style2.css and simply attach it to the head of your HTML page. If you want to make basic edits DW knows the correct CSS file whether its embedded or linked. Just make edits via preview and DW will enter a new .style1 ... such and such.
GREAT Tutorial! I really learned a lot. Thanks so much. I've been teaching myself dreamweaver for the past few months and you've really opened up a great deal for me.
Hi jazzmanstever, Thank you for taking the time to watch this project, and commenting. I do appreciate it very much. I like to hear it when people do not give up on Dreamweaver and challenge the program -- and your comment tells me you are doing just that BRAVO. I wish you the very best and be sure to share your site with me when you're all done. You can find me on google search under micheles paint shop newbie 101.
I've built several websites using Frontpage 2000 and have never used or even fully understood CSS before. I now have Dreamweaver CS3 and I find your videos very instructional. I've watched them all and give you my thanks for making them and helping us with the software. Excellent job!
Hi magic42362, Ahh very nice to hear you gave Dreamweaver the kind considerations it does deserve. I see DW getting better with CSS features with each upgrade. It is nice to hear you watched them all, and they helped. That is all I hoped for :)
Hi MicheleLee: Thanks for the nice tutorial It's far better than the ones on the Dreamweaver website. The only weakness that I see is in the design discussion area - before getting started. I don't think you realize that people want to see not only what they are going to be able to create before they start, but also need a short discussion on the limitations. For example, what it won't do in terms of end result, before the viewer spends wastes too much time trying to learn this.
Hi 1stPlaceDirector, Great idea! Thanks a bunch. I've since made a web page that includes some of the info. I again thank you for your helpful feedback and will surely include that information in future tutorials. On the other side of things I truly appreciate your kind comments and wish you the best with your DW future.
Hi Josephanhalt, Sorry for not replying sooner as I've been so very busy. I wanted to say I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful and informative and now it is my turn to say "thank you very much" for taking the time to comment as I do appreciate it.
Hi wowyourfaceisgay, I've fallen behind in my replies, but I'm here today and wanted to thank you for commenting on the DW videos. I'm glad you found it helpful and I wish you luck with using DW in the future.
liljesusesunpayaso, Thank you for writing. I'm sorry as I did not see any video response. I sure wish I did see it as I would have helped :( If you have any questions please feel free to write. I've been very busy lately, but you can always reach me at my main site micheles paints shop newbie 101
thanxs for the help. this was my first time even opening up dreamweaver. you really helped me understand the basics on how it works. i missed the name of your website though. could you send me that? thanks again you've been a great help.
alfgutz I'm glad you found it helpful, and I appreciate your kind comments... thanks :) It is nice to see that the viewers are not giving up and understanding more about the program.
thnx michele...watched all your vids 1-8 in its entirity...and gave a better insight into what i was doin and specifically what i was not...definite 'newbie' but will persevere cos will be able to create better websites than what i am currently putting out using another program
