    magic

  • sitting on the patio watching the bats bring night in.

Every time i hear that i literally gush.

  • @vinnygillan30 my gush-point is 'A seagull weeps; "so long"'

  • @deepset that whole section is one of my favorites of the song, of all its beautiful chapters. i also love the "awful atoll" part - it totally rampant - so so gorgeous

  • @ptercottontail marry me? I know exactly what you mean.

  • THIS IS EPIC. EPIC.

  • i.cry.every.fuckin.time

  • amazing

  • God, if I saw this live... I'd probs cry.

  • my favorite part is 0:00 to 9:16

  • I love how this song is so long, the video is split into two parts. Unnf.

  • So much better live than the studio version... Favourite song ever, absolutely amazing

  • Live>Studio <3

  • i'd die if i ever saw this song live, too beautiful

  • I saw her in Toronto, I would have loved her to play only skin, but it was too short a set

  • I love this, I would have loved to have seen more of Joanna's hands though.

  • This is my favorite of her songs. I love the native american influence.

  • 5:23 - 5:50...Amazing.

  • just saw her last night, i think she's the most talented person i've ever listened to. i've been obsessed with this song for like two years, it never gets old. she never gets old.

  • @sarz444555 She NEVER does get old! i think that is the best indicator of true quality.

  • This is the most amazing thing you will ever hear. Fact.

  • amazing

  • I love the black-clad girl back there just looking so bored.

  • wow this performance was amazing! it's funny to think I was only 11 when this happened and had no idea about great music like this

  • lol look the drummer is barefoot. i love this song!!!

  • If anyone needs me, I've got some business out on the edge of town - candy weighing both of my pockets down.

  • sometimes I feel like pocahontas when I listen to her

  • @sponeoblivious i know exactly how you feel. she makes me feel like running through sunflower fields and painting with the colors of the wind.

  • so beautiful it hurts. wonder if god felt the same when he looked at the newborn world.

  • What planet is Joanna from? I want a ticket.

  • this is so beautiful MAN

  • neal morgan is so hot

  • What's the song after "Only Skin" and before "Be a Woman"?

  • @djvbb12 NVM! Apparently this stanza is unique to this version

  • I wish that I could have seen this concert live. I could have driven to this church in about thirty minutues! The music, singing and instrument combination is so unusual but beautiful! So Angelic!

  • she is magical

  • I came across a review in a newspaper and thought to give her a try...I'm not a fan of this kind of singing (if that means anything atall), but the songs and the instrumentals won me over straight away...listen to the full orchestral version, lush!

    I'm a convert!;)

  • There ounce existed an example of "vocal superiority" on this planet. And God created Karen Carpenter. BOOOYAAAAA. But then God found us unworthy so God took her away. RIP Karen.

  • this hurts my brain. :( when i first heard it i though that it was completely disharmonic... and then when i started listening to it again it began to create a pattern... and now i cant stop listening to it. :)

  • '"Rowing along, among the reeds, among the rushes. I heard your song, before my heart had time to hush it."

Such a beautiful line (and song)

  • This is my favorite Joanna song. I'm seeing her live at the end of the month, but I'm not holding my breath that she'll dedicate 17 minutes of the show to this song. She has three discs of new material to cover. I just have to hear Go Long.

  • i love the way she says 'okay..' before this performance - as if she's readying herself to express the magnitude of emotion contained in this song.

  • This comment made me LOl.

Could you get anymore ridiculous in your analysis of a song?

  • Stunning.

  • i still loving this video i watched it like 10 times now

  • Whether you like the band or not, it's part of her experimentation with music. It doesn't always turn out perfect, but without the experimentation she'll never create what we love.

I saw this performed live at the Black Cat in D.C. a couple years ago. Blown away.

  • i know this is kind of wrong to say, but i wish the band hadn't been playing in this half... it just seems like awkward noise. let her be as she is by herself - beautiful

  • I agree wholeheartedly. This song is complete when it is her. It is gorgeous just her.

  • Agreed, that bit between 5.30-7.20 (ish), when they finally shut up, is the best by far.

  • yeah, i noticed that once it had zoomed in, but I couldn't be bothered replying to my own comment :P I am slightly more relieved now... haha :D

  • Has she cut her hair? or just tied it back? I'm confused... :S

  • It's just tied back :D

  • she tied it back, you can see it resting over her right shoulder.

  • lucky are the ones who listened to this in person

  • agreed

  • @taticastro lucky are the ones who understand her music.

  • *-*

  • Is it not enough to simply say, her voice has a rare innocence and purity, perfectly suited to her lyrical style. I find more life, beauty, and 'soul' in her voice than any of those polished, superficial others who I will not dignify here. I like Tom Waits's voice and music for similar reasons. Lets leave that label 'vocally suberb' alone.

  • i really dont like this term 'vocally superb', thats being used.

honestly there are hundreds more recording artists out there who are deemed 'vocally superb', and aren't nearly to the same standard as her.

she sings with emotion and spirit,

to me that is what the term 'vocally superb', entails. if any voice should warrant such a term anyway.

  • are you mine? my heart? mine anymore? :(((((((((

  • credit to the drummer, no sheet music just knows where he comes in that shows true dedication, i would love to play with her some day, she is the most rhythmically interesting musician i've heard in a while

  • @cappizzle09 that's Neal Morgan :) and he helped her with all of the percussion on the album.

  • @cappizzle09 thats because drums are easy

  • @Walls1441 regardless of the instrument, resting for the majority of a tune and coming in perfectly in time with a really sensitive but important part requires a great deal of musicianship, careful how you talk about percussion.

  • @cappizzle09 Real musicians play from their mind and heart, not from a piece of paper.

  • I love absolutely everything about her.

  • true, she isn't vocally superb, but she is so eccentric and original that you have to give her credit. she has such a way with words and expresses emotion in a completely different and enlightening way. this song is just amazing.

  • reaches my very soul.

  • this is the first song i ever heard by her. i love her so much! this video is amazing.

  • man this lyric is long shes like bob dylan

  • perfect!

    one true artist!

her power of writting is immense!

    ♥♥♥

    love love love

  • i have a huuuge crush on her

  • thankyou thankyou thankyou
