  • I prefer something like France (a hybrid system) which has been ranked #1 in overall care (when it comes to effeciency, no bankrupcies due to medical costs, and satisfaction).

  • cannot believe the posts here hyping the American system....America has the best healthcare....IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT!

Private insurers reject coverage if you have pre-existing conditions and 50 million Americans are uninsured.

The UK has its flaws, but at least you do not have to worry about being bankrupt when it comes to the US system.

At least, Obama's plan will help 32 million Americans with health insurance....of course, it will not be like the NHS.

  • For the Tory party NHS=No Health Service unless you are rich.

  • Can't wait until we get this in the U.S. with Obamacare!

  • hospital overcrowding is more of an infrastructure problem than a principal problem.

US pharmaceutical cartels have driven up costs for drugs. some of these drugs merely prolong the life of the patient and can be highly toxic (they do not actually kill cancer) and are extremely expensive

  • The problem is mentioned in the clip, Great Britain is the 4th largest economy. Spends much less of its GDP on healthcare compared to other European countries. They need to make health a priority and considering the way they generate funds that seems to be in higher taxes.

  • My father was living in the UK when they discovered that he had colon cancer. The National Health Service (NHS) denied his treatment on the basis that he was too old. Fortunately he had American Health Insurance Policy and could go to a private clinic. He is sure that if he had to rely on NHS he would be died now.

  • Most people in the U.S. have health insurance provided by their employer. If you get sick, you get an appointment usually the same day. If you have to see a specialist, you see one within the next day or two. Operations are scheduled around you when your ready for it. Which could be the next day if want to. Health insurance pays the hospital bill with the maximum out of pocket for catastrophic usually $2 thousand dollars. It depends on your policy and how much coverage you want. Dental is free.

  • The U.S. spends the most on health care and has the highest cancer survival rates in the world. New cancer drugs are introduced in the UK years after the U.S. and 85-90% of all new drugs are created by private American companies. The top five American hospitals do more health trials than all the hosptials in the world combined. The are more free health clinics in the U.S. than all the clinics in the UK. There are no waiting lists in the U.S. to see a doctor or a specialist.

  • i would be deaf if it wornt for the nhs and my mum would be dead and grandad aswell :s i thx the nhs for my life

  • DISGUSTING !!!!!

  • privatizing the NHS system? What a mistake!!! Look at the US health care industry (not system) and then see what health inequality really is. Even though some people wait, eventually they do get the care. What is you were in the US and needed a $270000 operation; not that many people can afford that out of pocket in one payment. The system needs more money and less technology.
