HOW TO: Burn/Copy DVDs On A Mac (Use Handbrake)

After using handbrake and dumping the DVD into Itunes on my MAC I connected my IPAD went to file and clicked on sync.

After opening my IPAD I was not able to find the DVD, what am I doing wrong??

@kits18 you just open up iDVD and import the video you want, then insert a blank DVD (-R, or +R) and just set it up however you want, or if you don't want to just press command+r to burn it. The thing that sucks about iDVD is that it may take up to 5 hours to burn a single dvd (depending on the length, dimensions, etc.)

@usernaameunavailable Just put them on the computer using handbrake, and then go to iDVD and go to file -> Import -> and then burn the dvd off of there

Once you rip it as "normal" and have the mp4 file on you desktop can you later convert that file into a file for the ipod/iphone? Or do you have to do it all over again from the DVD?

Thank you so much for this but when I download Handbrake and then click on Source, and I click on the dvd I'm trying to copy, there's yet another window which gives me the choice of audio or video, and then I also run into this rror message saying I need VLF. I'm not so technically inclined so this is proving a bit challenging - any thoughts?

I just saw your video on handbrake for MAC. I am interested in burning a movie to my desktop and then moving it to an external hardrive. Can I do this by simply clicking and dragging the movie from my esktop to the external hardrive after I connect the hardrive's USB cable? jsant24@live.com

In my opinion anyone that doesn't have VLC already should have it. This & 'Fairmount' are made run via VLC (it gets rid of certain legal issues, long & boring story)

Either way, there's issues with Handbrake (32 bit, so far the only version without any glitches) there's a beta 64 bit I think, I hear it's a little glitchy so I'll wait. The issue being that (to put it in English) handbrake is 64 bit & VLC is 32bit. till they iron out the 64 bit VLC you'll just be directed to the VLC mirror links.

VLC is a free download (download dot com is an easy way). It's free to download & a MUST HAVE! Without a doubt the best player to use with multiple files (just drag any files eg subs etc & its all done, TS, AVI, MOV etc etc, just drag em in & enjoy!)

you have to drag the VLC icon on to the application folder for the VLC to work
