  • damn... thought this video was about the vodka

  • this song really shows how much pain children can handle, amazing

  • Goes with my life perfectly. :(

  • @LordGold32 Lets all jump in the Pity Party

  • @OriginalSituation Damn, someones a hardass...

  • i look at my daughter and i can't lie to her.

  • Can someone please make a video of this WITHOUT the first ten seconds? It's so pointless and irritating. It's not on the radio version, so why would anyone want to watch or listen to random people saying "wonderful" in a music video?

  • @JBeatty17 it is actually on the radio version, its part of the song

  • @JBeatty17 Hey dip shit its on every version. Its part of the song uhhhhh DOii!!! DIPFUCKINGSHITASS

  • Simply one of the most amazing songs .. Ever!

  • The cycle will always be there. Just the clothes that change.

  • This is my favorite song. Ever.

  • Somebody please bring back 1990's music.

  • Cant beilve how old this song is already, I remeber when it was a hit and on Now thats what I call Music Volume 5

  • Note that this is during a pre-911 world. Nothing will ever be the same again. God help us all.

  • hahaha dumb!

  • @roosevelthighschool

Thats true. It seems like this whole video would be different after 9-11 for some reason, even though theres no relation. Idk The people just look different and stuff. :P

  • such an upbeat sounding song with SUCH SAD lyrics.

  • great song...i just cant stand that dudes expressions

  • I <3 this song... I know i am not the only kid going through like having parents divorcing... but this song means sooo much to me.

  • this song tells my life........cept the starwars picture

but everything else though especially when hes like "i dont wanna hear you say that i will understand someday" and the "and i dont wanna meet your friend" part, one of my all time favorites

  • This kinda reminds of when my best friend died nine years ago. I was six and he was five. And my mom told me it was all going to be okay. Its still not okay. And the fact that she just uprooted me from my home town makes me further relate. This song really helps alot when I'm feeling down.

  • Dudes gota voice. thats fer sure,

  • I cry almost every time I hear this song. And to think about how many of us had to deal with things like this when we were younger and maybe for some (like me) are still dealing with it. And I'm 18! I grew up with this song. And it still speaks to me now.

  • i used to live with my parents and they were meth heads i had a cassette from my uncle with this song and a bunch of other good 90s radio songs and they helped me through it.. the dad is dead and mom is actually in recovery going to colledge now but still the scars and the imprints feel internal but i am thankful for the struggle because im a stronger better person for it im on my way to colledge next year and im going to be a paremedic then work on becoming a firefighting engineer

  • @cheesemage31 shad da fuck up

  • @cheesemage31 I used to listen to this song all the time after my mom died and I moved out of state, got me through some rough times. I'm gonna be a firefighter too.

  • this song breaks my heart my parents almost split up but after a HUGE argument with my mother she passed away in the night....

  • If my dad ever left I would run away. I couldn't take it. I mean there's always the question 'Who will I go with?" I know that sicne i'm over 11 I can make the choice myself. But what about my sister? And then again I love both my parents but who would I go with?

  • well i understand COMPLETELY my parents almost split and they asked us who would we want to be with and we all (me my sister and brother) all chose my dad my mom was heartbroken and her parents split and her mother was a psycotic peice of wacko and she never met her dad till she was about 30 so my parents ended up staying together for 6 more years and then she passed away ive never seen my dad so heartbroken

  • @OriginalBloodPromise =( i am so sorry. =(

  • @Lighteningclaw dont worry about youll go with ur mom u cant decide at ur age its up to the government so ull go with ur mom

  • @Lighteningclaw dont worry about it*

  • i think everybody can relate to this song in some way. you dont see that in music much anymore. Listening to this totally brought me back to some earlier shit.

  • This song practialy brought me to tears....

  • when i was a kid my parents made me and my brother's life a living hell with their bullshit...this song helped me through it...thanks Everclear

  • its so ironic that when i heard this song as a kid, i thought that it was upbeat and happy, and as an adult, its seriously depressing :(

  • seriously man thats what i was thinking during this video. its crazy when you grow up and actually listen to the lyrics

  • this song makes me weep every time I hear it

  • that blonde lead singer dude looks a like a creeper no offense

  • Yeah I caused the divorce and now my kids don't even talk to me. Learn to be responsible and realize you are hurting more than just your spouse...

  • i don't mean to be personal but how? They r always 2 sides to a story and both party's in the divorce have something to do with it. I'm not divorced, never been married but soon friends have and they have similer wants to the divorce. Try to relate to your kids, explain and say u need support. If the father of my kids ever wanted anything to do with his kids (bastard) he'll need to do that before they'll let him into their lives later on.

  • nothing is ever simple

  • i love the song but u guys need to stop complaining my parents are divorced and they hate each other and it would be horrible if they were together

  • i think you are right in a way, cuz most kids think that if both their parents were togheter everything would have been better, and the truth of the matter is that sometimes, relationships just get to a point where there is no respect for each other and there is really no point of being together, and sometimes the healthiest thing that parents can do is get divorced, although I personally think that things can be worked out and divorce should be the last choice for a couple...

  • This song breaks my heart for EVERY kid nowadays, kids always pay the price of their parents, it's just that simple....

  • ya dude

  • @DogLover2769 Nowadays and how about in the 1970's I had to deal with this shit when I was little.

  • @DogLover2769 reminds me of the quote "parents mess you up they do, they give you their issues and throw some extra in just for you" sorry can't remember who said it or even if i worded it properly. If anyone wants to let me know hook up a reply.

  • This song describes my life.

  • I don't know why, but even after twenty one years of living this song hits dead on. Even if the video is kind of cheezy a little. It still resonates. Especially for kids who had to deal with divorced parents or losing family.

  • You have no idea.

  • this is alot like my life now! :( but its gonna get better.

  • i swear to god its ppl like u cunumbr1 that ruined our world. how does that feel? this is a great song and u come hear making fun of ppl's childhoods? who the fuck do you think you are?

  • i know how these guys feel, my parents got divorced when i was 8. it blows

  • this song is rather depressing cuz i went through the same thing the girl in the vid went through :(

  • thanks for posting, i love this song! =)

  • 2nd.

  • if you dont care, dont watch it.

  • I wonder if there is even a single song by Everclear that doesn't have a bittersweet feel to it.

  • Probably not because I think these dudes are all around laidback chill type of dudes.... that's the feeling I get.

  • Father of mine maybe?

  • This defines my childhood. Pretty much.

  • i feel ya.... i am 38 and this song seems to be my anthem........lies lies and more lie on both sides. wonderful now

  • this makes me think of all the bad shit that happen to me and still is going on X_X

  • 5/5 for the redhead...

  • this song makes me sad

  • a tribute to life in the old days before everything changed...what I've been living through for the past 4 years

  • yeah man for sure

  • This sure is a protest song againts Divorce! Nice. Chris

  • great lyrics! love this song. got me through some bad times.

  • I believe this song can touch many people on a personal level. Even now when my mother gets into fights with my stepdad, I listen to the song and think back to the days before we moved out of my home town and away from my family. I do wish that I could go back to my old hometown and never to have moved away. I dont blame my stepdad for the first move because she moved to the town where her old boyfriend was and not even two weeks after the move he left her saying he couldnt hanle 3 kids.

  • Hang on and keep your head up, you're not alone, a lot of us go thru some real bad times but you have to have faith that there are better dayz ahead.

  • I use to listen to this song when I heard my mom and stepdad get into it.. I cried the 1st time I heard it...

  • me too, brings back some of the bad memory that I had :(.

  • i cry when i hear this song.....u know adoted kids have a lot of problems!!*sad face*start to cry*

  • song brings me to those better times when i wish i could be broghten back to better time aint that abitch

  • shit i remember this song!!!!!

wow i 4 got about it 4 awhile

  • what an amazing song and band.

    =]

  • we don't care about his love life, its about the song. And its nice ^___^

  • HEY YOUR LYING

  • i love this song!!!

  • Good song but a horrible video

  • awh. this song is kind of refreshing to listen to

i dont know why cut it does cheer me up

  • BUT THEN AGAIN WHAT DO I KNOW !!

  • HOW does this song cheer up people. HOW

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i know!

this is one of the saddest songs ever. i don't understand either.

  • this is one of their best songs, and the songs that everclear sing really do get to u...... this song really describes me to

  • I used to cry listening to this. Used to. Now I could just care less. I got over my parents divorce forever ago. I could care less about that, most of all. It's the fact that the rest of my life just sucks that really makes this song get to me. It can't make me cry anymore though, it really just makes me angry, cause I really am so sick of people telling me that everything is going to be okay, when I know damn well that it isn't. That's how Everclear gets to you...

  • cheer up, alot of other ppl have it way worse be thankful for what you have

  • this is exactly how i feel RIGHT NOW!!! i love this band

  • I use to love this band, still do but this music was the blueprints to my childhood. Theyre really Cool. Art (singer) even let me play with them onstage one time at a show. It was one of the coolest thing sthat have ever happened to be. I'll love this band forever :)

  • god. i swear this song was written about my childhood.

  • i can saftley assume you were raped as a kid.

  • uh, no, i wasn't.

  • love this song so much... deep meaning... although the music video should focus more on the children, not the lead singers creepy looks.

  • Absoloutly AMAZING song! the beeestesserr song there is haha

  • the music video kind of ruined it a litlle bit but i absolutely LUV the song it reminds me of how i am a little

  • amazing song.

  • one of my most favorite songs

    definitely a tear-jerker for me

  • The song is about life being hard for kids, because parents fight, they feel alone, feel like they must hide who they are and pretend to be like everyone else, pretending they are happy all the time. Promised that everything will be ok 1 day by people they look up to, which is a lie as people will always be miserable;

    just don't understand

how you can smile with all those tears in your eyes

and tell me everything is wonderful now

Even the people saying it will get better are miserable.

  • one of my favorite song!!!!!

  • epitome of my childhood. great song, shitty music video.

  • the dude singing the song is too happy.

  • but great hair =D

  • This song makes me cry.

  • this song is nothing to santa monica

  • mad song

  • I think the video's fine besides the amount of closeups on the lead singer. Sorry, but he's kinda creepy! D:

  • i'd be more afraid of the red haired dude

  • I actually think the red haired dude is pretty awesome. His hair is such a cool color :]

  • well yeah. they are all awesome haha.

i just wouldn't be afraid of any of them

  • you guys are so harsh, theyre fine

  • they are good. you can't dispute that.

  • this is my favorite song of all time...

  • Heard this song on Scrubs and loved it but I have to agree with the majority...strange video.

  • who is the fucking hot chick

  • god i cant believe its been that long that i used to listen to this musik the bands now a days dont make this kinda muzik no more no wonder y i changed my muzik style

  • The video gets better, after you've watched it a few times lol... you get use to it, and frankly, i kinda like it ^^.. besides, "weird" music videos are the best :D

    they're a weird band :]

  • love the song vid is wierd

  • The is good, the video is alright...

  • i love this song the video is ok though

  • I love this song, but can't stand this video.

  • such a mixed emotion song for me..someone sang it to me so long ago, and i've been trying to find it since. yay.

  • hey look its my life

  • i really like this song, but he looks like creeper

  • rly? i think he's interesting looking.. weird, but in some weird attractive kind of way lol

  • its an awsome song but the guy is a lil bit creepy

  • r the two ladies like that kids lesbian parents or something???? just wondering. im confused

  • who are the two women who follow the children...just apart of the video??

  • those are the angels

    look at the lyrics

  • This is such an awesome song but the lyrics are kinda sad. I lvoe this song. I want a Star Wars poster on my bedroom door now. LOL! *DORK!*

  • he isnt to pleasnt to look at

but this song is sucha good one!!

  • odd video, it makes total sense BUT SO SAAAD!

  • Yeah I agree. Divorce is so detrimental to a child's life. I just wish my parents hadn't divorced because I really think my life would've been better than what it is now. Such an awesome song though.

  • Such a sad beautiful song

  • people dont undestand how selfish divorce is u have to think about how the kid will feel about it not just how the parents feel about it and how they dont wanna stay together but ur not the only ones in the family theres oother people and they should stop thinking about themselves

  • but you have to think about the other side to a divorce. if you have a parent that is on drugs and hurting the child and doing really bad things don't you think you have to get a divorce to save that child from a life with that bad person. so divorce isn't all bad. sometimes its nessisary(i know i can spell). but you are right sometimes it is very selfish for parents to do that when they can get help for thier problems. and keep thier kid happy. but sometimes divorce just isn't avoidable.

  • your comment makes total sense. so i appreciate your input, i tip my hat to you lol

  • thank you.

  • Addicts, alcoholics, narcissists, liars, etc. From another song, "It takes TWO to make a thing go right." Sadly, there are too many people out there who had children before they ever bothered to grow up themselves, and they pass on their problems to their children. There should be a test required before having children. As a friend pointed out to me, if you pass and your partner fails, you just dodged a bullet for yourself and the children you saved by not bringing them into the world.THINK!

  • wow. reading your comment was like reading my own mind. I agree completely. i feel that people should have to right to parenthood but i equally if not more strongly believe that the child has the right not to be born into that kind of life. Thankfully i was born into a good family, but i know and know of people who's parents are complete screw-ups who, as you say, have not grown up themselves. Why should a child have to be forced into such a terrible life. you make an excellent point.

  • this song is crazy sad but really good

  • this song holds a very new meaning for me even though my parents have been fighting for a while, i think they're finally divorcing. my momo left the house and my dad is in his room doing god knows what. but it could be worse.

  • This is such a good song... but so sad.

  • AHH!!

    i love dis vidd/song!!

  • This song makes me cry. =[

  • Well said! I completely agree.

  • ihave big shiny tunes 5 its on it and i had it since i was 5 so i would lison to this song everyday and i never new the meening now i just lisoned to it again and it made me cry, i guess i was right to lison to it since all what happend when i was little

  • I love this song.

I never really knew the true meaning until I rediscovered it a while back.

I read the lyrics, watched the video for the first time, and cried.

This is my life, my childhood, my present.

Except no one tells me everything is wonderful.

  • i hate but truly love this song... i hate it because it brings back memories it bring back yells screams swear words locking myself in my room for days and not eating for 2-3 days cause i couldn't stand the sight of my mom or dad but love it cause its amazing and it makes everything feel better inside don't forget you will get through it your pain is only temporary.

  • i expected more views..

  • me 2

  • This song is beautiful, and I hope that those who can relate get some sense of peace from it.

  • this makes me cry every time. i think back to 2nd grade or something n i would hear my mom scream and get hit by my dad and tons of violence. id blast this song to try to not hear them. i hated when they would say everything would be ok cuz it wasnt okay. id just sit there all scared n crying. but im better now that im 16 now i realized some people have it worse and i'll be fine. i always say that cuz i know it will be. and i hope i gave inspiration to anyone else who can relate to this song.

  • thank you :'

  • heard this song on XM and have been looking for it ever since.

  • this song reminds me of my childhood so much lol its so weird

  • this song hits me in two way. First when my parents divorced and then when my wife and I split. We are back together now (our kids are 9 and 11) and all is well. Still even after 30 years of my parents divorce this song still hits home, it's amazing.

  • I am truly sorry for those that can relate to the explicit meaning of this song (including two of my best friends). I have been blessed to have two parents who have been very supportive of each other my whole life and I understand just how lucky I am. Regardless though, this song is emotional for me because it makes me think back to some of the sadder and more tragic events of my life. I know I can't relate explicitly, but this song holds quite a place in my heart.

  • Thank you. Finally someone that looks on the bright side. Yeah, I have a great life, too, but this song is cool no matter if you can relate to it or not.

  • beautiful song

    beautiful meaning

  • I love this song so much

  • brings back old memories from like 2000. Big shiny tunes 5? such a good cd. Back when muchmusic was so good lol
