Gotta love the Canadian accent on the Russian Smirnoff. Went to Santa Rosa matches with this promotion and saw Dean Ho vs. Don Muraco in a 2 of 3 falls match. Not much memory as I was a youngster, but I do remember Ho bringing out a towel that said "Muraco's Crying Towel"..good times.
is there any footage with Walt Harris announcing? I used to go to the telecasts with my dad at the old KTVU ch.2 studios, back in the 60's. Once we were in the last two front seats on the right (from the cameras view). Bizarre we thought when there was an an empty seat to the left of my dad. There were never empty seats. In the 2nd bout of the night, Bobo Brazil gets thrown over the top rope and lands perfectly in the empty seat. We loved it.
@fomomoto3 I have a friend who works at KTVU who told me that all those broadcasts were live and none of the footage was ever put on video tape or saved in any way other than still photos. What a shame.
I emailed the t.v station and got a response. They taped the show and reused the same reel taping over previous shows.Tape was expensive then. This is rare.I would love to see some Kenji Shibuya matches
@sparky4036, as the case for most independent stations that were using videotape. Only Bob Wilkins was able to save a few of his "Creature Features" tapes.
Yeah, sure. "the stories I've heard..." is always code for "I hate a guy I know nothing about but I know he's gay." You'd think that during the 60s-70s when Pat was a huge star, the locker room wouldn't like having a gay guy. Go check out the best old school site Kay Fabe Memories and find out why your remark is B.S.
I was watching 'Big Time Wrestling' from 1974-75 hosted by Hank Renner(seen in the above clip). We were'nt able to pick up ktvu 2 on our antenna at that time. Also 'Big Time Wrest-
It was taped at KTXL in Sacramento, and actually aired simultaneously with "National All Star Wrestling" (in fact, Walt Harris was commentator on both shows, until he was replaced by Hank Renner in 1971).
The music for "Big Time Wrestling" was the Marine Corps anthem "Simpler Fidelis" which played over footage of a match over the opening and closing credits.
I don't have any video of Kaiser & The Von Brauners. They didn't have VCR's back then. I do have a lot of audio though. Maybe I'll post some of them, when I'm done with the video.

Miss Wrestling's name is Sandy Herdt. Loved her wink to the camera, even as a kid!

This brings back great memories of watching "Big Time Wrestling" every week! On Ch. 40 in Sacramento and Ch. 36 in San Jose.

I like how Pat Patterson and Alexi Smirnoff grab the referees shirt so the ref can 'hold them back'

Do you have any of the Big Time Wrestling
intros with the circus type music?
DRbiohazard 4 years ago 4
I didn't save that part. Wish I had though.
AdoribleAdrian 4 years ago
The show with the circus type music was actually called "National All Star Wrestling" and was taped at KTVU channel 2 in Oakland.

It was in 1980, when Roy Shire underwent open heart surgery, and sold his wrestling franchise to Eddie and Mike Graham, and closed in 1981.

Awesome...just Terrific!!! Great to see Miss
Wrestling and the posterboard and stars again.
(I think that may have been unique to Big Time
Wrestling.)Don't recall seeing it on Georgia
Championship Wrestling at least.
These Big Time Wrestling videos are great.
Do you have any of Kaiser when he wore the
German helmet?

Cool...I did'nt know these were video tapes;
I thought perhaps the t.v station may have
kept some of those old B.T.W. programs.
