  • Hey mate, great video and tracks, wonder can you do a track list, the tune on the decent at 8 min 14 secs is awesome. I love netsky chew lips too. Many thanks

  • Hey congrats Bro! awesome ride & place, if a mere mortal like us would like to do it, what would be the overall cost for a quest like the "Megavalnche"? Thanks

  • @RudyRoiz:

Interesting question... ...just out of my head, it's about 80EUR entry fee including all costs for lifts and gondolas. 5 days in a 4-bed appartment will account for around 400EUR. The costs for getting there and back depending on the place you live - and not to forget food, drinks and spare parts for your bikes ;-)

  • @rchewdy Thanks very much Bro, hopefully I'll see you there.

  • No video got me so pumped as this one. I so want you to win.

  • many thanks, ive only riden general off road a XC, and never tried the clip pedals so for me the jury is still out, seem to see a fair few crashes (low speed) due to not being able to get the foot out quick enough! but as you say down to preference, would you say most downhill riders ride clipless then?

  • fantastic videos, im hooked on this race, hopefully one day I will take part!

Sorry if this has already been covered but what pedals/shoes do you use or reccomend for this.

Also what tyres do you use for it, and stupid question but what about punctures?

do you carry inner tubes or that foam stuff?

    many thanks, dan

  • @bomberbolton:

Thanks for the compliments - and for raising a new topic: Shoe-pedal related questions had not been asked yet ;-)

Since I'm used to clipless pedals for almost 20 years, I prefer those in combo with carbon-sole raceshoes. I feel safer and like contact points to the bike being stiff and precise. Just personal preference.

Tyres: I've never experienced punctures when running on 2.5 Minion DH F tyres, the rear one with Stan's. Still, a precise line choice is key! CU

  • @rchewdy wow clipless on that at the top must have been mental! some nice line choices there too!

  • @rchewdy , just wondering is your bike a 26er or a 29er? And do you think a hardtail bike could survive in this kinda environment? :)

  • @SL1DE5TER:

Well, as there are not that many 29er with 200mm of travel around, I did not have the choice ;-)

But riding a 29er in front might have advantages in terms of rolling over bumps and improved traction for braking and cornering... ...let's see how the industry develops.

  • @rchewdy Woo! Thanks for the reply bro, one more question, do you have to be a VERY SKILLFUL rider to make it out alive at the finishing line? Cos it 'looks' so simple the way that you went through from your video. :D

  • @SL1DE5TER:

    Well, define "Very Skillful" ;-)

You definitely should have some "above-average" bike-handling skills to enjoy. But the trail itself is, besides some short sections, not that tricky. It's the crowd, the speed and the sheer lenght what makes things different. Give it a try, then you know ;-)

  • In seeing this year, it is the highest. BEST!!!

  • what is the music from 8:20 onwards?

  • @Kinmofo It is a remix of Winter from Kathbert (Kuthbert) I was trying to find it for weeks now, still unsuccesfully. Maybe rchewdy can help ;)

  • @TheAcmerider:

Oh yes - from one ear to the other.

A good lesson in "You shouldn't start something you can't finish".

  • Great vid and very educational for me, a prospective racer on my Remedy in 2012. The trail from 7:50 onwards looks so sweet! d:)
