I have tried it a good handful of times now, reducing weight in all areas except keeping the v10, aircraft brake, and ether x rally suspension. using 16" tires. i can't make it past the oil field....what did you do?
Such a great game. I discovered this ages ago driving slower cars and then stepped it up with the faster ones.
I remember discovering the funny crap in the game (like ten years back :S), like pushing taurus around til he got stuck places, and killing him or yourself before cutscenes (eg: trip #1 after blowing up fireworks factory. You could roll your car on the hill and die or kill taurus, and if you timed it right the cutscene showed a dead car driving along the road talking on the radio).
Continued to DanAmerican. There or if you can't find a copy on your own, and if I manage to find both sets of discs, then I could send a set to ya. Anythin to help a fellow I76 player. I think my e-mail is public if ya end up lookin my way to get it. If my e-mail isn't public just ask and we'll work stuff out I guess. Can't have someone goin without I76 if they want it.
@phouka123 if you are right with this arsenal version of the game, then i thank you a thousand times for this video. i somehow thought about I'76 and all the fun i had with this game and looked for it on youtube and found your comment. this will be the 1003 try to get I'76 running again! (sry for bad english)
@keets0 I have both original discs in original casing on my shelf :D nice and clean, no damage to the cd's and all i do is copy them to not wear them out :D God Bless this game!
Man I miss playin this game online. I think I actually still went by Keets back then ... Tried playing again after spending days to get the game working on Windows XP but couldn't find anyone to play with. That was years ago too even.
You cannot imagine how sad I was. I wish some people would get together to create a new version of I76 (forget I82 or vigilante8 or that crappy mmo they tried to make.... can't remember the name sorry).
Seriously though we need this kind of game back these days.
@keets0 I have to get a hold of the full version of the game again to try it, but I have Vista. I downloaded the demo, set the compatibility mode for the installer, and then afterwards the EXE for the demo once installed, to Windows 95 compatibility. I also had to set an exception for the files in DEP (data execution prevention). Just incase the security thing wanted to give me hell, I set them to run as Administrator as well. The demos work pretty beautifully now.
@DanAmerican I've still got two copies of the original cd's. One set (install + play) disc was included in a voodoo video card I installed and the other set I bought a little later when I couldn't find the first set
(found the first set right after I got home, I was like oh well at least I got two copies) Lost the nitro pack cd though.
I don't know where you can find the discs anymore but I think I saw some on amazon (I hate to advertise but just tryin to help out) There or if one sec new post
This game is damn goood.by the way, phouka, on what operating system you're playing this? Do you have the original CDs from the game cause I can hear synced music on the background and the hacked version doesn't play the music even if the CD is mounted.
I remember all the great tracks with huge jumps people had created. Also creating textures for cars and 'lowering' the suspension on them using code hacks in config files.
lol.. nice.. just like the old days when we rode.. Who can forget those 2am shootouts with the unkill hackas... lol.. I took them all on with just mines and oil..
lol I have done that so many times at so many different jumps. god i loved that game. :) Check out my Interstate '76 Stop Motion Video. If you loved I'76 you'll dig this video.
I sucked at the game, but I was great comic relief. I think people enjoyed having me around just for something to blow up and watch fly all over the map.
@kazimann if you mean using the same ramp that he did except to actually complete the level, yeah it took me a few times to get my speed right so i didnt explode on impact lol. the exit of it is just so steep!
this was the BEST game ever to play online, but unfortunately i think the servers for this game aren't up anymore as it is so old, and even if it was i doubt anyone would still play it.
oh it was so much fun doing this stunt <3

I remember it was possible to jump the huge canyon in that level and survive. I was incredibly difficult though.
It was great fun getting the AMC Gremlin and sticking the V10 engine into it. It was a rocket!

'Oil Well Well', right? Nice nitrous slide...funny, even without the SSS article I wrote(that was never published), word still got around.
I never should have told DeathMachine about it.
Try outrunning Dr. Radar with the same technique. There's video of me doing that in a red coupe somewhere.
