The roller shutter effect is from the CMOS sensor being just that, a roller shutter sensor. A global sensor doesn't have that effect and is more suited for vehicle mounting. Check out the MPV-HD from RaceOptics. A little more pricey but it's got the global shutter. There is some sample footage on YouTube.
At $495, 'a little more pricey' is an understatement. That puts it way out of my price range. I can live with vibration for the <$130 price... Thanks for the info, tho...
5VDC. It comes with a ciggy adapter (actually a 12V ciggy addapter to USB female -then a standard USB cable between it and the camera). It can be run non-stop. But if power drops at the ciggy, the camera gracefully shuts downs (has internal battery). As soon as power comes back, it resumes recording. Once full, the camera begins to overwrite the oldest data. Each video segment can be anywhere from 2 to 15 min long. It really is the perfect setup (minus the zoomed in lens)...
The unit itself is powered by 5VDC, but comes with a 12VDC to 5VDC adapter (cigarette lighter). If you keep constant power on, it will not know when to start/stop recording.

Thanks for the video. Can this unit be powered by 12v DC constantly?
