For $1,999, the iMac comes with a quad-core i5, DDR3 memory, 27" 2560x1440 ips display, and a 5670. In the Sony you get a Core 2 Quad (lost), DDR2 memory (lost), 1920x1080 display (lost), and a GT330M (Come on, I have that in my notebook, lost).

The only thing that computer has is a touchscreen, and Windows 7 can't even utilize that properly.

In any case, I do promote tech. If I'm such an Apple fanboy I wouldn't buy anything other than Apple, which I don't. I just bought a Dell Venue Pro (off contract, $500 without tax at a Microsoft store), I had to drive 35 miles to get it. Does that seriously sound like an Apple fanboy lol. I do prefer Apple products over others because they care about what I care about. My laptop has the power of the Sony L while using less power.

@iDiggMGL the added pixels 2560x1440 are worse for playing HD content(its a fact)and i also recognized it while trying it out, (lost)Further the display has to upscale to 1080i ( i believe it cant even handle FullHD) which makes the picture worse and you have to sit like 4 metres away so you come closer to a native FullHD display (proofen and their are also many articles about this) (lost), the glare of the display is so high that you have to darken the room completly (damaging your eyes) (lost)

@TheMrDisser No, stupid, playing HD content on THAT resolution is "worse" lol. It's actually no worse at all. I've played games on that resolution and it runs perfectly fine. Oh, and there's the fact that YOU DON'T HAVE TO PLAY ANYTHING ON THAT RESOLUTION. I don't know what country Apple is screwing over for you to be soooooo misinformed but nothing you said is true, lol. iMac does 1080p and higher, Vaio has a glossy display, have you ever seen one lol "damaging your eyes" lol

@iDiggMGL better camera (lost),the graphic card is trash (lost),less Ram(lost), you cannot upgrade the hardware(lost),no bluray (lost) and all that and more for a better price. The design is crap too when i had the new iMac it was not even good enough for standing in the kitchen because the white looks just horrible. Also more programms are compatible with Win7. Further the Sony could handle graphic,film,music production programms and a game at the same time as i watched a bluray the mac crashed

@TheMrDisser Yeah, because web cam matters (I used mine.......once, oh, but wait, you're going to tell me you use yours EVERY SECOND YOUR BEING EXISTS), iMac has a card that puts the GT330m in it's mobile place lol and you call the 5750 trash. The iMac comes with faster RAM, less is more lol. Don't need bluray, I have a PS3 and a 52" Bravia, loser. Wow, iMac's came a long way since the plastic white iMacs lol the new iMacs are Aluminum and match stainless steel products, you don't have any I bet

@iDiggMGL REALLY??? You can even work on programms with it. Its Outstandig you can controll your entire PC with it without any problems. WTF are you talking about. I guess you had never your hands on the Sony Vaio VPCL14S1E/S. I know what i am talking about i tried atleast both of them before opening my mouth. The touchscreen works prefectly with Win7 u really can to everything. At first i thought they are like HPs crappy touchscreens but for this touchscreen is just one word AMAZING.

@iDiggMGL although i didnt even came to render a film or watch the bluray it crashed before. ( lost ) I has a better disk drive. And even iTunes worked better on the Sony Vaio (lost). And it was able to load files on my iPhone 4 way faster. And there are a lot more thing. And you cant say i am a SonyFanboy BUT i was fastcinated by the iMac until i got it and figured out it was trash. Even the resolution of DVDs wasnt good.

@iDiggMGL Also you can hook up everything on that screen and use it as screen only too without booting. So beside using it as a PC i use it sometimes as TV has a double TV-Tuner,also you can play with a gaming consol on it or use it as screen at a lan even i havent done any of these activities since a long long long time. For some people this is also a advantage. And you can also use hook the graphic tablet to the PC and draw with a stylus directly on the screen ( perfect for architects etc.)

@TheMrDisser OK, let's get something straight, NO ONE is going to draw on that display. I've tried the Sony Vaio L, and I wasn't impressed one bit. It had the power of my MacBook Pro while being a stationary and using windows7 for touchscreen support. I know what's good, the Vaio L is far from that, but it's not trash.

i just bought my imac 27" 2 days ago and im starting to get use to my imac. i didnt know i was going to spend an extra 3 hundred on classes and extended warranty. but other than that. i think i would have wanted the imac if i would have bought the latest sony all in one. I just think the imac was really worth the extra cash in the end

Logically you should compare the 20" Imac with the Sony Vaio JS. The entry one at that. Otherwise there is nothing conclusive to tell us.

Also, price wise, at least here in the UK, the entry Imac is a good £150 - £200 more than the Vaio, based on some places I checked out today (on-line).
