  • I wonder how much that Stylophone he held goes for on Ebay?

  • DAVID BOWIE WILL NEVER SLIP AWAY.. GOD IS HIS MASTER..

  • His adoration for a public access NJ daily vaudeville show I grew up with... I wish everyone could've seen Uncle Floyd

  • Cleaning and doing laundry while listening to Bowie is such a harmonious task!

One thing for sure, he needs to come out with a new album soon or I’m coming suicide!

  • I love this video best performance of this song

  • i believe he knows alot and feels the pain of humanity

  • I Like this track and love it that never will forget. Thanks Mr.Bowie.

  • I love David 'Bowie. Ich höre in nunmehr seit 29 Jahren.

  • @mellobbello Thank You !!!!! I dont wish harm to come to anyone, but I just dont get Bowie.Booooooooring.

  • @flyfish1995 - I used to think that but I've completely found my appreciation for his style.

Try David Bowie - This is not America.

If that doesn't change your mind then accept it and move on :)

  • I believe in HEATHEN - DAY and NIGHT.

  • God Head! Thw whole album is amazing!! BIG FAN!

  • Beautiful song!!

  • david bowie is just amasing is he not .

  • This nice musik i want dedicate to my VANGI (from Lolek und Bolek;)

  • This song solidifies in my mind the fact that David Bowie is the tenderest, most emotional pop star out there.

  • This song really gets to me. The ole heart!

  • I love this song, it makes me feel chills.

    I love you David!!!!!!

  • Bowie and a stylophone, how could it be better? :D

  • Que locura de bueno.

  • A lovely but shortened version from the master!

  • Based on this, David Bowie will be eyeball-searingly hott when he is a thousand.

  • David, you are the most wonderfu man I ever knew. I love this song of yours.

  • I always thought this song was about Syd Barrett

  • Brilliant song, from a brilliant album. If I can just repeat what Ivan... said about repeated listening, if you repeatedly play this song, so it repeat's in your mind, until you are very, I repeat, very familiar with the song, only then will you be in a position to judge. Chances are you will then like this song, and want to repeatedly play it.

  • I do agree it's a new great song that just fllows his story

  • Been a huge fan since the early 70s, grew up on hunky dory and ziggy stardust.. But tracks like this are just as good, and the voice and style are amazing. see also 'never let me down', 'something in the air' and 'thursdays child'. granted there are far fewer great tracks than in the years 69-77 but i mixed his songs up for my 9 yr old daughter and 'slip away' is one of her favourites. That's a much more objective view than it's possible for me to have.

  • seems to me like you complete lost your mind .... or hearing :) (btw the bass in this version is just top shelf )

  • poor banal song! he completely lost his talent, however he remains my absolute favourite (1969/1997)

  • How cool!!! i think his later stuff,90 onwards, is his better work. its about taste i guess.

  • ok, maybe you are the only one in the world, lol!

  • better to be the only one, than one of many lol

  • lol!!!!

  • I don't really much care for Earthling, but I think Hours and Reality are really really good albums.

  • great song, david bowie is beautiful

  • I think this is great. All his recent work is grand. BTW - why is Gail Ann Dorsey not playing bass, but acoustic guitar? Funny...

  • the last 3 albums do not ever come close to the heights he reached in 1976/7/8/9....

Later stuff is lame. Just like listening to a recent U2 album which are also lame.

U2 keep up the dellusion by picking up their annual Grammy Award, for the 'Emporers' New Clothes' award.

    Sick

  • Comment removed

  • Paddy - would you rather he (and U2) just stopped and lived off their glory days instead of at least TRYING to make new music. For my money I'd rather U2 and Bowie etc keep on working and creating. It makes the world a better place.

  • Yes indeed, at least they are trying. I think in Bowie's case he did in fact at least try.

The last 3 U2 albums should be exposed for the lame, shit efforts that they are.

  • You are sure you have really given some of Bowie's recent albums the chance of repeated listening. My experience, is that I am often initially disappointed, but that they tend to grow immensly over time.

  • I will give it a try, thank you!

  • lo mismo me pasa a mí, hermano!!

  • with his later songs it's like he never quite reaches the emotion needed to take it to the next level. Life on mars is better but it's still a good song.

  • I love this song. My best David Bowie song from all his career! And how come - this guy was 55 at the time when the program was made. Would you bekueve it? He looks here so youthful!

  • i think this is one of most elegance albums in pop's history

  • @vicius68 i agree with you! this album is a work of art!

  • I agree with you! this album is a work of art!

  • I think this is one of the more elegance albums in the story of pop.

  • "Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd" is a classic song lyric.

This particular song reminds me of his

    early 70s songs.

  • It does indeed but without copying himself. In fact, I think it is one of his strongest ballads ever, on par with Life on Mars. So strangely sad and melancholic and hauntingly beautiful.

  • I agree. This song is one of his best

    ballads.

  • we wont stay hir

  • This is the equivalent of Anthony Newley on cocaine. A friend of mine went to school with David & Peter Frampton (Beckenham). I recall David when he worked in a record shop in London.

  • uncle floyd and oogie are from an american childrens tv show

  • Tnx.But what is it have to do whith GOD?God will look at every person diferent.I am no trying to change your way:)

  • when he plays the stylophone. what is the TAB for it? if anyone can tell me.

  • HE IS FROM ATLANTIS GIFTED MAN.

  • I love this song. David Bowie is great! But I don't get the line in with "uncle floyd". Who is uncle floyd? Can anyone explain? Greetings from Germany

  • Uncle Floyd is a childprogram on TV from US - search here and you see - But someone from the States will give you the details and the symbolic meaning

  • Thanks ramsenacka for the information. I didn´t know that it was a TV-Show. How odd to sing about that.

  • It fits with the very nostalgic mood of the song, I think.

  • In interviews he's said he used to watch it with John Lennon.

  • shivers up my spine when i here this fantastic x

  • David Bowie is timeless

  • David Bowie is my all time favourite singer and composer.

This song kind of reminds me of his work in the early 70's. And I absolutely love it!

Gorgeous song, David. Keep up the good work!

    Greetings from Sweden.

  • I too used to watch Uncle Floyd Show on chnl 68 in the tri states area, hurried home to watch it. Im also a fan of David Bowie & recently learned about this song..

Thanks David, You are an incredible man! A great singer!

  • If David is an alien like I think he is then aliens must be really really hot.

  • David, David, David, I was ten when you said goodbye to makeup and i cried looking at your picture on my wall, and now I´m 45 and I´m still here and you´re still here and we both live and the world is still glorios place to discover...

  • David is so talented!

  • i do love bowie

  • I was looking for this one here some long ago :)

Thanks a lot for sharing :)

  • tender,beautyful.... bowie is maybee the best actual musician and this song one of his masterpieces, thanks for posting!!!!

  • just fantastic

  • Toward the end of the video he plays the stylophone. How do you play the stylophone?? Bowie is so clever he's the best!

  • A stylophone is a bit like a piano, well its layed out the same way, but instead of pushing the keys down you touch them with the pen thing it comes with, so pretty simple, well easy to understand, hard to play. David bowie is a very talented singer, songwriter, and every thing else he does, he is a Superhuman, if he is actually a human, i personally believe he is an alien because he is so perfect. And so beutifull.

  • Not to mention, think about just how many of his songs deal with space or aliens, even if we exclude the entirety of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie is definitely an alien! But I'm O.K. with that fact as long as he keeps turning everything he even thinks about touching into gold.

  • 04:04 - The concentration on his face. =]

I adore this song and sometimes I just HAVE to listen to it, whereever I am, because there's just a need for it. It evokes so many emotions.

    Thank-you David. x

  • He seems very emotional while singing this song. It is an absolutely beautiful song though.

  • @Elfphan7

He's emotional about every song he sings.

  • One of the best songs I've ever heard!!! It should have been more famous! Amazing music and amazing how he puts his thoughts about the innocent old ages in Uncle Floyd's tv shows where though some important messages were sent to the adults!! Great chorus and such an incredibly melancholic melody. Bowie is really a real artist...

LOL

  • haha I recognize small parts of a childrens song in this!!

    Twinkel Twinkel little star

how i wonder where you are

    Wonderful!!

  • this song is amazing

  • I think Bowie did a newspaper-ad for stylophone back in 1969

  • Excellent track from the unique superb David Bowie - love it

  • i feel depresd and down but when i here this it eases the pain love you bowie

  • He is a legend-truly a legend

  • god bless this man

  • what was that thing he was holding in the end of the song?

  • A stylophone

  • a stylophone. later in the interview jonathan ross gave david his stylophone cos he was jelous of jonathan's black and white one haha! he was so chuffed!

  • A "stylophone". A toy synth that was popular in England in the early 1970's.

  • I get chills watching this.

  • Having grown up on "The Uncle Floyd Show", it moves me to tears.

  • delicious, so feeling and david is inmortal

  • my god...i love this guy:-)

  • The most important artist in history.

  • I love the heathen album! This song is so great indeed!!

  • This is far superior to the recorded version. This is one of the dames most lovely songs. Superb. Don't forget to keep your head warm while sailing over coney island. Thanks for posting.

  • This song is based on Uncle Floyd...an entertainer from New Jersey (that I know very well). Uncle floyd told me that apparently Bowie and Lennon loved when they went to New York so they could get to watch the Uncle Floyd show on t.v....it was there favorite show. He's flattered by the song. He also recieved an autographed copy of the cd from Bowie.

    Just an interesting FYI...

  • Song of my life. Thank you David Bowie.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I love this song - my favourite of his 2000+ stuff.
