The entire video looks to me to be a promotional video, it has everything. A naval plane, 2 chase boats, and a chopper coming in hard. Think the pilots were just trying a little too hard, to much momentum coming in for them to level off. Just my thought on it, I'm stupid so it doesn't matter. I think it was a commercial gone wrong.
1 hero died in this crash 2 severely wounded because the navy pilot was a ignorant jerk and was trying to show off!! All he accomplished was killing an innocent soldier with a family and children because he was trying to impress. His widow tells his daughter, who still looks up at passing helicopters and asks "when her father is coming home: Daddy stayed in the water to help people. He stayed too long. That's why he went to heaven. Daddy is a hero. Your daddy was a Marine." Semper Fidelis
An Airman falling alseep in the middle of the taxiway while taking a smoke break with his head on a wheel chock...wheel chock saved his life. Didn't do much for the front end of that maintenance truck though. Jet engine cartridge starters exploding and blowing the 80lb cowling RIGHT behind the crew chief while we all watched.(brushed right against the back of his jacket) An E-dub walking to the back of the bomber to preflight his antennae and walking right into one of them. No deaths thank God.
There were no accidental deaths at our base during my term of enlistment.....but only by the grace of God. I'm talking exploding jet engines....aircraft departing the runway....welders (need I say more than the word "welding?")...welders welding on fuel bowsers with "water" in them. (It wasn't water.) Airman accidentally setting off an ejection seat.(not a scratch) Falling off the top of an icy bomber fuselage while removing an ejection seat.(yes, it was the same seat)
They're recovering helicopters on that fucking landing pad, you have to wonder why they have that God damned snare right there where landing gear can get hung up in it. It's a ship at sea receiving aircraft...why don't they act like it? Typical military operation....all fucked up. Every day after I got off duty I'd look back at the flight-line and shake my head and say to myself, "It's a MIRACLE that we didn't kill somebody out there today." And I mean EVERY day...all kidding aside.
You say they died, but the rescue boats were right there, what could have gone wrong? It looked like the classic crash that they train for where the helicopter fuselage section is dumped in the pool upside down in the dark and everybody is trained how to find their way out and to the surface. If these people had that kind of training, what went wrong?
omg!!! thats soo sad that those people died there.........i would of been soo sad if anyone i knew was on that plane........in memory of those who died in that crash.
This happened quite a while ago. It is the crash of a CH-46 while it was trying to come in to engage a hover over the landing pad of the USNS Pecos. A force of 18 people were on board including the flight crew. Most were standing ready to fast rope onto the deck of the ship. 11 people survived and 7 bodies were later recovered.

Looks like the pilot came in too low and his wheel got caught on the guardrail. He treid to correct and flipped over. I hope the crew got out ok.
