They should have definitely stuck with this project. IMO it was a bad call to stop production. The Game Table would have been a great step forward for a dimming but amazing franchise.
@jefaw82@jefaw82 I think they should have outsourced it to a proven game development company, and they should have started by developing this for already-established gaming systems (XBOX Live), SONY (well, the network needs work but you get the idea). From there they could have ported it out for PC use once the kinks were worked out. They would have been spared themselves the pain of development (which usually kills great software ideas) and generated income across multiple platforms.
I would like to see this implemented on a touch screen table. I prefer playing with my buddies face to face, this would send table top RPG sessions through the roof if it could be done.
Finally with D&D we'll be able to stop having our own sets of dice, miniatures and no longer need to meet people in person to play. I'm sure Gary would be proud.
This product is going to be a tool. It could be used to better the enjoyment of the game or make it worse. For me I like the idea of still playing with my friends even after I move. And we've talked about using this software but in person since most of us have laptops. Who knows if it will replace normal table top for us. We may stick to what we have, especially considering the amount of money we've invested.
thanks for abandoning this great idea WOC, you dickbags.

Should be out already, but if not you could try Map Tool (google for it) - easy to handle, but it is 2D.
