  • This guys is my fucking hero.

  • thanks for this tutorial...i´m going to do it with your explanation... Regards :-)

  • @fiogurru have fun.

  • Great tutorial. Just a quick question - I notice you practice with water first, do you replace the glass after each test (I don't see any water residue on your final photo)?

  • @JustifyJustin yes clean glass each time.

  • Great tutorial...congratulations

  • Easy but it works really well. Nice job!!!! :D

  • thanks you for the video! :-)

  • very helpfull vid

  • Ohhhhh, my Gosh! That's so F****ing cool!!

  • Cool video!

  • Awesome.

  • the background is fake , right ?

  • did this guy actually green screen himself into a "studio"??

  • Very helpful tutorial thanks for sharing ur experience.. One silly question, is it ok if we just used a soft box instead?

  • @SuhadShi Softbox would be fine if it's big enough

  • hey i have a fujfilm s2940..pointing it directly at a lamp a 1/1000 and aperture 6.7 its still to dark..suggestions?

  • @Megafatass66 hmm. try higher iso maybe 400 or 800 and open aperture a bit more maybe f4 , f5

  • @Megafatass66 and bring the light a bit closer to the subject

  • @LearnMyShot the thing is it has crappy aperture adjustment..like it only gives u 2 options and the second one was lik f-11. but today i got some cool pix just added some light :) thanx so much for the tutorial there all great!!!

  • You mention one light.. Have you not also got a light hitting the white background???

  • @josephohalloran one light. background is translucent the lite is placed behind background

  • @LearnMyShot ,aww I see it now. Nice work

  • Awesome!

  • which camera and lenses did you use ?

  • What if i dont use vellum and just use light? what is the difference?

  • @iliadisi1: The velum diffuses the light evenly. If you do not use it or something similar, the bare light would be blinding. You can use faster shutter speed but that would also impact the water motion. Just play with different setup and find out

  • exellent /congrats

  • Wow mate! Such beautiful pics broken down so in a simple way. My new inspiration...........thanks for posting

  • @LearnMyShot .... I've done everything what you said .. but my picture turns black .. please can you tell me where the problem is .. PLEASE ANSWER

  • @nnddeerriimm I just tried the same. Mine is black too, I tried many ways for light, laps, flashes but didnt work. The reason is light as I read. If u do not have good light sourse it will not work. shutter speed is too high (1000) if u decrease it, it will get ligher and visible, but water wont be as beautiful as in this video. tomorrow I'm gonna try on a daylight, hope it will work. Cheers

  • Thank you!

  • This helped me tons! Thanks!

  • This is really neat! I love looking at the motion of water, but vI don't have the camera and lights...that's why I make slow motion fluid dynamic simulation renders on my beefed computer lol

  • Do you see the image of Jesus in this as I do?

  • did anyone else notice that the papers he was holding at the end were blank?... Brilliant!

  • which camera is good in quality in all aspects whether Nikon d5100 or Canon 60D ? ... plzz answer sir ...

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! Thank You!

  • whats "iso"????

  • great video ill have to try it soon

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! I'm going to try this sometime soon :)

  • suppose i dont have the velum or the light source....is there still a way i can replicate the picture you have there??

  • @shadowrao1 you can use strong daylight

  • this is a vey good tutorial.

  • the kid filmmaking ad was one of the few on youtube i actully like

  • Great tutorial, thanks again!

  • very nice :) thank you :)

  • i searched 4:56 just to come here and go to 1:23

  • Thank you Sir!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is for my camera lab project

  • Great tut, nicely explained. Thank you.

  • it is beautiful

  • I recently got my first camera.. Panasonic Lumix GF3, i was suprised at it's capability, the built in flash copes well with splash photography, and i made what i could with the lid of a quality street chocolates tin as a reflector ^^ I got some good images of running water from my bath tub's tap :D I used the standard 14-42mm lens, I had it on 42mm and the results were cool :) Thanks for the video, but when I put the shutter speed too high it doesn't take in any light at all. Any tips?

  • @ChiversVinny the flash will not sink with camera when shutter speed is above 1/250 sec. (in most cameras) so that's why black image. We demonstrated continuous light. so you need a lot of light to this shot without flash.

  • what's the RAW thing about?? what's it do?

  • @candyqueenify its literally raw image data. Making it better to edit as it has more 'information' in the image, as there is little/no loss in quality

  • @brcdrift ohhhh I See now, thanks.

  • What is velum?

  • @hyperfocus2011 velum is a drafting paper. search google for "roll vellum crearprint" it makes nice even diffusion.

  • What about using a white muslin background instead of velum?

  • Thanks For the Tutorial. I tried it out last night,. Staples and Michaels didn't have vellum so I used Tissue Wrapping Paper. I didn't have a boom stand so I taped my glass to a bbq scraper tied onto stacked Cinder Blocks. Every time I wanted to reshoot, I had to lift the cinderblock to dump out the water. It was a tiring process :/ but very fun!

  • Soor chah gya yr Allaa <3!

  • :) i love the video

  • Do you know of a website where i could upload RAW pictures for free?

  • truly amazing...

  • Verry good, i love it, and thanks for show this here, i give it a treay (sorry, i know, its not so good englisch :-(

  • Do you zoom? What program do you use for editing the raw pictures ?

  • Great tutorial ! I m looking for the other tut of your now .Thank you

  • Thank you.

  • Great job !! Great Tuto !! thanxx a lot !

  • Thaaaaaaaaaanks... i really wanted to learn how to do that... =))))

  • do you shoot raw?

  • @est101010 i only shoot raw

  • what lens you use? can use the other lens like 55mm or 1.8?

for nikkon d60 bcoz i want to try to nikkon. Canon d60 is the best to.

  • @Austin28angel I used kit lens on this one 18-55. You can use any lens

  • wow... its sow GOOD. thank you for sharing this video. i want to try that. its simple but sow help full to other. like beginner or to get more idea. about shutter speed and ISO

thank you dude. for uploading this video. GOD BLESS dude. and more turials video uploaded

  • great work - and easy too!

  • hello Mr.robert nice splash, what is the lens you use in this photograph?

  • Cool video on Splash Photography.

  • thx i like it

  • nice thanks

  • thnkss love it

  • spotlight behind the vellum? Also do you do any editing on photo shop?

    Great tutorial!

  • @tresflip some images where cleaned up in Photoshop. Not so much the ones in video. If you find this tutorial on our site you can see images where the color was changed etc... and yes it's a spotlight behind the vellum

  • But it's all fake, what is the fun in that?

  • @Dennis060796 what do you mean? what's fake?

  • @LearnMyShot : Sorry for that :/ My brother thought you used photoshop without even watching the video xP haha i had to explain it to him and show him the whole thing, haha no worries.

  • @Dennis060796 ....what?

  • @applepiewithtoast : we went over this apple, you are totally late, he already took the $50.

  • @Dennis060796 does that mean family pictures and basically all still life and studio photography are "fake?"

  • @billium345 : can you fucking read when i said to the uploader that my fucking brother commented that because he didn't see the whole video other than looking at the thumbnail? yeah, research through my comments before you let out a fail comment trying to make yourself look cool.

  • @Dennis060796 hey sorry about that I didn't see it.... no need to get mad :)

  • @billium345 : im sorry too xDD lol i was tired lol sorry bout that xP

  • @Dennis060796 You fucking weirdo freak! Why don't you find some dark corner to hide in or better still jump off a bridge somewhere?

  • @anthonyevans69 : Haha are you seriously trying to make me emo bro? Nah I don't do that. And the sentence you wrote..."Why don't you find some dark corner to hide in or better still jump off a bridge somewhere?"...is not correct. It should of been said like this," Why don't you find a corner to sit in or better yet, jump off a bridge!" Haha you totally fucked it up and made no sense at all. So yeah, you probably have problems and mental challenges. Have a nice day Anthony! :D Thank you

  • Looked better without blue.

  • I love your tutorial!!! Thanks for sharing!!! :)

  • man, this makes me wanna have a drink. i bet one of those beverage companies would pay a ton for one of those shots.

  • Muy bueno!!! gracias por el aporte.

  • what lens is that?

  • Rapid Fire Just as Call of Duty Yeah!

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

  • So cool!

  • @mohkth : If I may help... Basically every DSLR can do this, so yes, you only need to understand the manual mode of your camera.

  • this is very helpful. u make it seem easy for us. i'm now willing to try this.

  • how to increase contrast in photo without photoshop?

  • @ThePoisionblack keep highlights brighter and shadows darker

  • @LearnMyShot thnks for reply.....well i bought 50mm lens recently but m still wondering if we can take photo in sepia from camera directly???? i tried lots of option but i couldnot succeed......:)))

  • This video is great, can you do more like this showing is diffrent things you can do with photography???

  • I just noticed that you're using a green screen.

  • Hey a Tiltall! I've got a Leica Tiltall that I had converted into a 3/8" threaded tripod to put a ballhead on it.

  • Hi. great video. Is it possible to do this with a 120 watt outdoor halogen work lamp ? and what kind of paper can you use ? :)

  • @wackerguy 120 outdoor might do it. 500w will work better. paper in drafting vellum on the roll clearprint 1000h i think it called

  • @LearnMyShot Thank you for the answer. I just got 2 120 watts and a 150 watt lamp right before i got your answer :P But i did work just fine. I just had to use f/2.8 and ISO 400 with a shutterspeed at 1/1000 second or it would be too dark. Thanks for the video. great stuff :)

  • this is fantastic as always. very inspiring and instructive for amateurs.

thank you for sharing and for sll this stuff.

  • So what if u don't have any of that fancy stuff, just a camera and glass? XD

  • LOL this guy has this ridiculously pricey setup and canon gear and can get about 4 frames a second when my $450 Pentax gets 7. Feels good not paying more for less because "it's a canon."

  • @atticbasementattic I would be interested in seeing the results of your 7 frames per second posted on Youtube.

    Thanks

  • Amazing.U made it so simple.I have a question. What is that which is holding the glass? Is that a part of tripod or something?

  • @a73210 it's a Hollywood Arm (made by Mathews) on our channel find a video "basic photo studio lighting and grip equipment") or browse LMS site for that tutorial there is all the info on gear in the article

  • that is AMAZING... this stuff I don't learn in class (I study photography at uni)

  • LINK is not posting here u can see them on FACEBOOK>CAPTURED IN WINK> FAST SHUTTER SPEED (album)

please hv a look and suggest me some improvements sir :)

  • yes i tried..bt without tissue paper thats why the light is some wat distracting

    u can see them

btw thnx u r tutorial helped me alot soon i'll try with tissue paper :)

  • well i liked this too much bt i hv a query can we do this with compact camera actually i did bt i m lackin in setup of light as i dont have a studio i do this in my room with CFL bulbs bt the problem is this the light of CFL scatters wat cn i do for this????? reply asap :)

  • @vrk122 place tissue paper close to your subject have your cfl light right behind it. that should do a trick.

  • Fantastic tutorial :)

  • @TheUnchainedMind glad you liked it, we have over 60 tutorials check out the rest.

  • Have you found that one brand of halogen spotlight bulb is whiter than other brands? I work with white background and I am tryong to find the right bulb. Can you help?

    Thanks!

  • Great thx :)

  • SUBSCRIBED! Just a well put together video. Thanks.

  • When we take this shot what do we focus on? The glass?

  • @searchsid i usually place a paper with sharp graphics at the place where the splash will be. and then leave a camera on manual focus.

  • Awesome

  • Well sir, you make a "subscriber" :-)

  • I'm eleven and you have the easiest videos to follow especially without photoshop

  • @bigben123456789ify hey Ben post some of your results on out blog would be great to see what you came up with.

  • simple and clear ,, Keep on doing these useful tutorial Thank You ,

  • amazing tutorial, well done!!

  • Very good video...simple and cheap setup yet great result.

I am a bit puzzled though.....al three exposures seem about the same lightwise that is....yet between your first and last exposure there's a difference of 2,2/3 stop.

  • @HoutmeyersP it a bit brighter and the liquid is sharper as the motion froze better. But you are right the change isn't dramatic.

  • Beautiful

  • i have a question if you want to catch action like fast moving as you said at the minute 1:25 would you not be better filming with high shutter speed and at lots of frames per second or im confusing myself?

  • Thanks for the guide!

  • Awesome video!! really loved the results! :D

Just a quick question, did you use Photoshop to sharpen the image after you took the shots or not?

Muy buen video y saludos desde Mexico :)
