It is not the weight of the car it matters, it is the capability to absorb the impact forces. If you'd put a 2 tone, Chevrolet Belair (just to give an obvious example) there instead of Smart, you'd still get deadly forces on the body. The front side of the car should fold and absorb the impact forces.
