More than any other ELP song I can think of, this one epitomises the contrast between the three musicians. Greg Lake strumming a lyrical ballad and singing flawlessly. Carl Palmer finding a beat that only he seems to be playing to. Keith Emerson hits his stride with a top-drawer classic jazz-prog solo on the Moog, Timeless.
EL&P's all-time best song--a unique, riveting rock classic! The techno rift that starts at about 3:22 is way ahead of its time (done with a moog synthesizer). Love the picture of EL&P shown then too--so young and talented and their whole lives ahead.
dude this song is amazing i heard it lastnight while baked out of my mind and like this is a mellow song to listen to while baked it makes you think and stuff and when they get the synthesizer in there it made me trip really bad but all in all a GOOD song for a good tripp
I love this so much!! I really love the Moog Synthesizer at the end!!They really had a great sound, incredible!!!!A testament to early 70's talent plus technology!!

Some of the drumming is kinda sloppy :/, it irritates my, cause I know he could do it so much better! Just listen to like Karn Evil 9 and Tarkus... Well, the song it self is completely amazing.
Fantastic band, fantastic song - been listening to ELP since about 1975 when I was still at school and everyone hated prog - never tired of them and still blows me away

Melodic rock, very baroque ... it was (rightly) wiped out by Punk

@yallowrosa Ah, Punk. That nasty little virus that swept through the music industry like HIV through a brothel.
