  • People just frustrate me. And I can't do anything about it. And it's just stupid that everybody hates everybody else. I'm not some hippy preaching for world peace and shit, that's just unrealistic based on the nature of humanity, but I'd be a lot happier with us as a community and a country if we focused on getting along so we can kick another country's ass than being focused on kicking our next door neighbor's ass all the time.

  • @chennighausen I hear you, however, here is some off topic advice from an older man to a younger man. It is good to take life seriously but not too seriously, at least, not at the wrong time. You are a young man and you should be enjoying your youth. The fact is that 10 or 20 years from now things WILL be better in the U.S. and the world overall. Things won't get better all by themselves but they will get better. That means you can have some fun and cut up a little bit in the mean time.

  • @ChrisEveryDay cont. My message is that I think you should lighten up a bit because things will be alright. Enjoy your youth and don't have a drab outlook because we (humankind) do learn from our mistakes. It takes some time to do and sometimes we even regress but our overall goal is to improve and we do that, slowly but surely.

    Peace.

  • @ChrisEveryDay Thanks. I always get real caught up in stuff that I have no control over, and it's so hard for me to change that about myself. I really hope I can take your advice to heart, it's my senior year in high school, and unless I really mess up I won't get another one of those. It's just I see all these problems around me that shouldn't even be problems in the first place, and that it's almost a duty as a human being to help better my environment.

  • And on the other hand, Democrats may want to create equality, but often time programs that create equality can completely backfire. I think Affirmative Action is a good example. A white guy who is forced to work with a minority instead of another white guy who was better qualified but didn't get the job because he was white sort of seems like taking a step backward for me. But left unregulated, that white guy might hire another white guy based on race instead of qualification.

  • sides. Which of course can only create tension. But in defense of the government, there is no perfect way to solve the situation. Republican ideals would be great if everyone was actually born with an equal chance to create something for themselves, but unfortunately that's not the case. If my application to Virginia and a Senator's son's application are put side by side, it's a no-brainer who UVA will pick, even if we had the same grades and same SAT scores and everything. That's just not fair.

  • committed by lowlife thugs, who more often than not seem to be minorities because this is the way the news likes to show things, and elements of pop culture like rap music (every white kid in the world loves Lil Wayne) and TV shows and movies. If more isn't done to straighten out people like Trigga, ignorance will continue. Damn, I rambled for a really long time. Oh well, I fell very strongly about this. I hope this clears some things up for you, if you actually read all of these haha.

  • @chennighausen I actually did read all of it and I thank you for your insight. You enlightened me and, hopefully, others to how things are going with your generation.

    Peace.

  • @ChrisEveryDay I'm just so frustrated with how this country is run. Not Obama, not Bush, not Congress, no one in particular, just in general. Capitalism as an idea is wonderful, everyone getting a fair and equal shot to live their dreams and make something for themselves is true freedom in my opinion. But here in the US, we're missing the most important part of it, the fair and equal shot part. And it seems that every safeguard that's supposed to help equality gets taken advantage of from both

  • is Trigga (probably not going to NC State next year) punching a security guard in the face? If I don't tell the story about Martin, he's nonexistent to my friends in Minnesota. All they know about is the black kid nicknamed Trigga punching the security guard in the face. So when they see some ignorant pile of dogshit like Al Reynolds make an extremely generalized statement about an entire race, they feel like they connect. These views are further conveyed through the news, who often show crimes

  • outweigh our knowledge that not all minorities act like that and when we speak before we think we come off as racist and misinformed. As fucked up as this is, it's the truth. I mean, when I go back up to Minnesota during the summer, and I'm racking my brains for stories, what sounds more interesting, me and my black friend Martin (who will be attending NC State next year) working on our engineering project, or the black kid whose nickname

  • rates will be higher than black graduation rates, but only because the ratio of well-off whites to poor whites is higher than well-off blacks to poor blacks. The 20-30% who don't are way more obnoxious and do things to stand out, and yeah, more of those people are black than white, and these people will stand out more in memories of high school than the countlessly larger normal population. So when me and my friends formulate our own opinions as adults, the few negative experiences often

  • You pretty much hit the nail on the head with everything you said. I'm white and attend a public school in Charlotte, NC and 78% of my school is on a free or reduced lunch plan. From the outside looking in, yeah, one would probably say that my school is "ghetto" and not somewhere that most parents would approve sending their kids to, but of our 1,600 student population, I'd be willing to bet that 70-80% will graduate and go to colleg or have a normal job. I'm also sure that white graduation
