It's easier like this, and you need nothing but the ps3, i only know how to do it on slim.

Disconnect the power cable,press the eject button and KEEP PRESSING, while pressing the button connect the power cable, the ps3 should beep and after this it the cooler will start running at full speed, if it's dusty enough, you will see the dust coming out fast by the vent.

Do it again it 1 to 3 months, not less, it can fuck up the system

@sqaldly100 just return and get a new one, if you got it on christmas i highly doubt that it is full of dust unless you have been running it on carpet. dust if their is a hardware issue i doubt that it would be the cause, possibly where your ps3 is could be causing it to over heat or something try to avoid enclosed spaces.

Note: If your PS3 isnt reading all your discs this works. My PS3 was only reading a couple of games so I tried this and it worked fine. All it does is remove dust from the PS3 and laser reader. Just hold it as close to the vent and run it up and down a few times.

Also make sure you get into all the vents.

ATTENTION: Don't do this while the power is on (or power cord is in). And leave the ps3 for about half an hour so all the electric charges are gone inside the ps3 (yes because of the coils and capacitors, even after a bunch of minutes it still will have some (very little) power left.

I wouldn't recommend doing this with a vacuum especially a metal nozzle or large nozzle tubes because it can create static in the air and you might have a small chance of frying circuits where compressed air is a lot more safer because its cold "fake" air I'm in no able to explain why it creates static but I remember specifically being told by many computer teachers to only use compressed air because of static.

Good vid bro. You never want to do something that kicks your PS3 on high van. Vacuum or take at least the small exterior apart and use a Duster can to clear it out. If it doesnt work then you need to take more apart, and clean the reader disk which needs a special cleaner. If you have rainbow walls on Black ops, it's the disk reader

alot of people say that there is no point of cleaning it well if you do not clean your ps3 you are an idiot the dust will gather in the ps3 and slow down the system because there is so much dust that the fan will end up struggling and yes the ps3 will freeze less if you clean it and it will also work faster because the fan will move faster causing less overheat letting you play more and freeze drasticly less .

@chrismck100 It's reccomended, if you use it like, for a whole weekend, then dont touch it for about 2 weeks, then yeah, because the dust you collected when u played the first time, sits there, and when u start it up again, the fans kick in and suck in dust that sat there. plus if you play alot, every day or every other day, you collect alotta dust. inside the system is really dusty im going to guess. xD
