I think this Shabad is being read from Sri Sarbloh Granth Sahib Ji as from what I know, Sri Dasam Granth Parkash is usually on the left of Maharaaj Guru Granth Sahib Ji and on Guru J's right is Sri Sarbloh Granth

The most purataan and unchanged maryada is Sri Takht Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib maryada. Did you know Sri Chaupai Sahib is from Sri Charitropakhiyan bani? If you live in India, go to Gurdawara Sri Bhagour Sahib near Anandpur sahib, Guru Sahib wrote Charitarrs there...Akaaaaaaal
maybe a mix of both. he's reading bani, but the bani is writen like poetry to flow in certain way and evoke certain emotions. the point of raag, or kabitts or dhunis etc.

sri dasam mahraj is a guru. a guru is spiritual teacher. and sri guru dasam maharaj teachs us on various spiritual levels.
And as for disregarding chritropakiyan as bani, there is a signed hand writen scripture with dasam patshah's signiture on it in patiyala.
